BRIDES Florida: Miami's Top Shops for Killer Wedding Shoes

Saying yes to your dream wedding dress may seem like the most important shopping decision you’ll ever make — until you come to the shoes. In Miami, anything goes as brides often hit the aisle barefoot (as well as in five-inch Louboutins). Just as with your dress, shoe shopping is all about style, comfort, and price point, so if you’ve been waiting for that right time to splurge on designer heels, now’s the moment to go all out. Here are a few of the best boutiques and bridal salons known for their showstopping selection of shoes sure to complete your picture-perfect wedding day look.

Christian Louboutin
Shoes are one of the best ways to subtly throw in that “something blue,” but if you really want to add a pop to your wedding day ensemble, go for red. Louboutin’s signature soles always make a statement and will not only look good in photos, they’ll also look gorgeous as you’re gliding down the aisle. The French designer even has a whole collection designed with the bride in mind, with wedding white stilettos as well as more off-the-wall styles adorned with spikes and studs. Everything You Need to Know About Choosing Your Wedding Day Perfume

Choosing Your Wedding Day Perfume

Photo: Getty Images

Choosing your wedding perfume can be a tricky business. You have to consider what you like, what your groom likes, and how your scent of choice will last through a whole day of celebration.

“A lot of people choose the fragrance that they wore most when they were dating their significant other, but I recommend wearing something different,” said fragrance psychology expert, Jason Nik, “Our sense of smell is one of our most powerful senses and directly linked to our memory, so by wearing something unique for the wedding the brides and grooms will have a scent that for years to come will remind them specifically of their wedding day.” Look for a scent that has a different note than you typically turn to. If you like white florals, try a scent with a citrus top note and florals in the base. This way you still smell like you, but different enough to notice.

You can also layer scents. When testing perfumes, try layering your normal perfume that reminds you of dating your spouse to be, with a new scent. When scents work together well you can create a brand new signature fragrance for your wedding day.

To increase wear time of your scent, floral expert Robyn of The Social Flower says “it is important to find perfumes with a higher oil than water content. This will help the fragrance last longer and is easily activated by increased movement — perfect for when you hit the dance floor.” So when you are searching for the perfect scent, seek out a fragrance oil or Eau de Parfum. These have a higher oil content than an Eau de Toilette.

While you are prepping for the big day, placement of your perfume is also important Sue Phillips, fragrance expert says. “Never spray fragrance in the air and walk into it. It is a waste of the precious ingredients, and it will fall on her head and clothes — not good as it might stain her clothes, and the fragrance will compete with hairspray, shampoo and conditioner scents. Never spray fragrance at the back of your neck. The heat from your hair will cause perspiration and it will distort your perfume.” She suggests instead “always wear fragrance from the bottom up. At the ankles, behind the knees, in-between the thighs, in the crook of the elbow and at the pulse points — at the wrists, at the cleavage and at the nape of the neck. This way, as the fragrance rises, it will envelop you and will create a blanket of scent around you, versus having the fragrance waft into the air.”

These Are the Best Wedding Hashtags We've Ever Heard

Want your wedding to be hashtag #awesome? Then you’ve got to come up with an awesome wedding hashtag, duh. All the cool kids are doing it! On the real though, wedding hashtags are a great way to consolidate all those fun Instagram and Facebook pics from the big day into one easily clickable place. And the more unique and clever the hashtag, the better, we say. To get some inspiration and just for kicks, we’ve rounded up some of the best of the best wedding hashtags from real brides and grooms around the Internet. Prepare to laugh your asses off, peeps.

#DurekaneKatrina
His last name is Durek, nickname Durekane. She’s called Katrina, and they got hitched in Costa Rica so obviously the only hashtag that really made sense was this one.

#SayYesToTheKress
When Ashley found out her BFF was getting hitched, she instantly knew what the wedding hashtag had to be: A play on the bride-to-be’s last name (Kress) combined with everyone’s favorite wedding-themed TV Show, “Say Yes To The Dress”.

#HusseyNoMore
We love a bride and groom with a good sense of humor and this couple’s wedding hashtag proved that they definitely have the ability to laugh at themselves. The bride-to-be’s maiden name was Hussey so of course this one fit perfectly LOL.

#CrazyStroopedLove
When in doubt, pick a popular rom com movie title like the Stroope’s did and make it work! “We got the idea the good old-fashioned way (if you can even say that for a hashtag) by asking close family and friends for recommendations,” the bride tells us. “Ultimately my now-husband’s most clever coworker nailed it with this one.”

#MorganHeBargainedFor
Erika is getting married this spring to her lovely fianc&#233, David Morgan, and one of her bridesmaids came up with the perfect hashtag for the duo. It’s a mix of his last name (soon to be hers) and a reflection of their personalities. He’s more of the quiet, thoughtful, calm type and she’s the loud, chatty and sometimes intense one.

#BigFatHarryWedding
When Stephanie found out what her friend’s upcoming wedding hashtag was she couldn’t help but laugh. “The groom is named Jason Harris and everyone calls him Harry as a nickname,” she says. “He’s been featured in some surf films called Dirty Harry. Because of all of this, they decided that their hashtag would be: #bigfatharrywedding.” Hahaha!

#2LiveCruzWedding
Prior to the wedding, this bride actually paid someone online to come up with the perfect hashtag, but still, nothing felt right. The closest thing and runner-up was #TheCruzscendo. However, they ultimately went in a different direction. “#2LiveCruzWedding kind of summed it all up for us. We’re music fan and maybe a little bit ‘out there,’ as are our friends so it seemed appropriate.” They did opt out of playing any 2 Live Crew at the wedding though. “Some of our more conservative guests may not have appreciated it,” she says.

#StocksAndBonds
What happens when a professional writer marries a Stock? A clever hashtag, that’s what! “Stocks” is obviously a reference to the two of them, and “Bonds” refers to marriage bonds, which we think is the perfect play on words and oh so fitting.

Here's How to Make Your Honeymoon Flight Actually Enjoyable

Airplane Travel Tips

Photo: Getty Images

Once upon a time, flying anywhere was an exciting glamorous affair, with roomy seating, free-flowing champagne, and gourmet food served on real plates. Nowadays, it’s a more of a necessary evil that can range from pleasantly tolerable to downright torturous. But your honeymoon flight experience can be made slightly better with a little knowledge and preparation.

Of course, if you can upgrade your honeymoon flight to premium economy, business, or first class, it’ll make a world of difference. Many credit cards offer bonus miles if you spend a certain amount in the first few months. If you have a lot of wedding expenses to pay off, it’s easy to hit that limit and collect the miles to cover an upgrade.

Whether you can score a better class or are stuck in economy, here are seven ways to make your honeymoon flight more enjoyable.

Travel Well-Rested
“Well rested” is likely the last thing you’ll be after your wedding night, and a plane ride will only exacerbate your exhaustion (even if you can sleep on the plane, it’s unlikely that you’ll sleep well). If you start the trip feeling good, you have a better chance of not passing out as soon as you arrive at your destination. If your schedule allows, leave for your honeymoon a day or two after the wedding. At the very least, try to avoid an early morning flight the next day; try to schedule your flight for the afternoon or evening so that you have a few hours to relax with your new spouse, rather than rising early to rush to the airport.

Pack for Comfort
Long gone are the days where economy class passengers were treated to any creature comforts — some flights don’t even offer pillows and blankets anymore (and do you really want to risk the germs on your honeymoon?). If your flight is more than an hour or two and you’re hoping to catch some zs, it’s worth bringing a travel pillow (if space is a concern, opt for an inflatable one), a soft scarf that can double as a blanket, and an eye mask. For longer flights, toss some lotion and eye drops in your carry-on to keep your skin hydrated and eyes moist in the dry cabin air.

Bring Snacks and Drinks
Most airlines no longer offer free food on domestic flights, and even on longer international flights that do include food, the offerings tend to be bland and salty. Skip the meal and bring your own snacks instead, such as unpeeled fruit, nuts, or granola bars. You won’t miss the food everyone else is eating and you’ll likely feel a lot better upon landing. Don’t forget a water bottle (so you don’t have to rely on the tiny cups poured by flight attendants) and, if you want to enjoy a celebratory drink in-flight, check out the Carry On Cocktail Kit, a travel-sized kit that includes a mixer for drinks like Gin and Tonic, Moscow Mule and Old Fashioned.

Spring for the Extras
Airlines love to nickle and dime passengers these days, but your honeymoon is one trip when you should consider the extra fees worth it. Things like priority boarding, seats with extra legroom (like the bulkhead or the exit row) and extra luggage allowance can make quite a bit of difference in your enjoyment of the travel experience.

Treat Yourself to a Little Luxury Along the Way
It’s your honeymoon and that’s cause for a little pampering. Rather than battling traffic and then waiting for a shuttle from the long-term parking lot, why not spring for private car service and arrive in style? And skip the airport food court and shell out a few extra bucks for lounge access (which is free with certain credit cards) so you can relax in a quiet space away from the crowds. Most lounges have wifi, comfortable seating, and free food and drinks. Neither will make a cramped economy seat seem spacious, but if you enjoy the pre-flight experience a bit more, you’ll board less stressed and in a better mood to deal with the indignity of being crammed into a tin can 30,000 feet above the earth with 300 other people.

Choose Your Seat Wisely
If you can, choose your seat in advance. Consult a site like SeatGuru to learn the pros and cons of particular seats so you don’t end up in a seat that doesn’t recline on a 12-hour flight. Some flyers like to gamble a bit by selecting an aisle and a window in a three-seat row; if the plane isn’t full the middle seats are the most likely to be empty so you may end up with no one between you (and if someone shows up for that seat, they’ll likely be happy to trade their middle for your aisle or window so you can sit together). Another option is to pick seats in the back; planes usually fill from front to back so you might luck out and find yourself with more empty seats around you if you’re in the last few rows.

Look for Last Minute Upgrades
Several airlines now offer the chance to bid on an upgrade. There’s typically a minimum bid and there’s no guarantee you’ll win, but you might get lucky and find out you were the high bidder for a bump to premium economy or business class. Some airlines also offer unsold upgrades at a significant discount at the 24-hour mark, so look for the option when you check in online. It’s also worth asking at the gate, as sometimes people cancel at the last minute. Asking at the gate also gives you the chance to try your luck that you’ll score a romantic agent who’s happy to make your honeymoon extra special. You’re probably more likely to score a perfect-condition Vera Wang gown in your size at a yard sale than you are to get a honeymoon upgrade to first class — but there’s no harm in asking!

Romantic Brides Will Love the Enchanted Garden Vibes at This Couple's Late Fall Bash

Garden-Inspired Wedding in Southampton, Bride and Groom Portrait

Allie Lynch and Ben Grandjean first met at Colby College in September of 2006. Throughout their years together, the couple spent a lot of their free time at Allie’s family’s home in Quogue, New York — a place where the bride made tons of memories growing up. So when Ben was ready to propose on May 3, 2014, choosing that beloved beach as the backdrop for their engagement was a no-brainer.

The pair chose September 26, 2015, as their wedding day and planned to tie the knot almost exactly nine years after they met. For Allie and Ben, picking their venues were the easiest wedding planning tasks: They knew they wanted Basilica of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton for their ceremony, and Quogue Field Club for their reception. The future Mr. and Mrs. leaned on the team at Bellafare to transform their indoor venue into an elegant English garden. The results were totally breathtaking, and, lucky for us, Nathan Smith of Ira Lippke Studios photographed every romantic detail.

Allie looked stunning on her big day, dressed in an intricate French lace and silk Amsale wedding dress. She knew it was the one based on comfort and the way it made her feel confident. She paired the gown with a lace trimmed veil, a diamond tennis bracelet from her mom, diamond and pearl earrings, and Christian Louboutin white lace pumps.

Allie’s sister served as her maid of honor and wore an all-white Amsale wedding dress. “The color scheme of the entire wedding was very neutral so a neutral or white gown seemed most fitting for the maid of honor,” Allie says.

Groomsmen stuck to the elegant vibe of the celebration in classic black tuxedos. The couple had two flower girls, who wore adorable white dresses with tan sashes and oh-so-sweet flower crowns.

The Basilica itself was a stunning backdrop for the ceremony, so the couple only added a few touches for décor. Two large arrangements of hydrangeas and greenery were displayed at the altar while smaller, largely green-and-white swags of flowers lined the aisle at the end of each pew. Live musicians played the organ, violin, and trumpet throughout the ceremony for a romantic touch.

Once guests arrived at the Quogue Field Club, they caught a glimpse of how Allie and Ben’s planner and florist brought their enchanted garden vision to life. Breathtaking floral installations were suspended from the venue’s ceiling, dazzling friends and family with their dripping greenery and touches of neutral flowers. Everyone was seated at long tables that were topped with white Irish linens and a custom tan table runners.

Tons of candles in hurricane lamps were scattered along the length of the tables, casting the space in a serene amber glow. Centerpieces varied in height from table to table but stuck to the same neutral color palette. White roses, greenery, and fragrant herbs helped drive home the feeling of being in an outdoor garden.

Guests enjoyed the couple’s signature cocktail, the Colby Mule, an ode to their love for Moscow Mules and the Colby College mascot. The dinner menu, which featured fresh, seasonal ingredients, included filet mignon, Guinness-braised short rib dumplings, and citrus-glazed halibut. For dessert, everyone enjoyed the couple’s three-tiered wedding cake. “Nine Cakes made a minimal and elegant confection that matched the décor perfectly,” Allie says.

Do We Need to Provide Breakfast and Lunch for Our Wedding Party?

If you’ve ever been in a wedding party before, you know that there’s a lot more to it than just showing up properly dressed before the ceremony begins. Especially for bridesmaids, the getting ready process might begin at 8 a.m.! With a day that long, you and your girls are bound to get hungry — not to mention the groom and the groomsmen! So should you provide breakfast and lunch for your wedding party on your wedding day? Here’s what our experts have to say.

Since you’ll definitely want to make sure you get something to eat before your wedding begins, it’s a great idea to have some food available for anyone else who will be around while you’re getting ready, too. For breakfast, this could be as simple as some fresh fruit, yogurt, and small pastries — things that are easy and relatively mess-free to eat, and also great for snacking on throughout the morning.

When it comes to lunch, you’ll want to nosh on something that’s got protein and will be filling, but also won’t mess up your makeup (sorry, burgers!). Consider a salad with chicken, a veggie platter with hummus, or sliced wraps or small sandwiches. Be sure to include vegetarian-friendly options if you have some non-meat eaters in your crowd. You could also set out a platter of cheeses and crackers, alongside easy snacks like grapes, roasted almonds, and pretzels. Avoid anything that has a messy sauce, to keep faces and fingers clean (especially when it’s time to put your dress on!). Make sure you’ve got lots of water on-hand, as well as juice — both for mixing celebratory mimosas and for sipping when you don’t want alcohol.

Depending on what the groom and groomsmen have planned for the day, you may want to provide a similar spread for the guys, too. Who wouldn’t love some snacks and a beer while they’re putting on their suits and tying ties?

Teen Mom 2 Star Chelsea Houska Just Posted a GORGEOUS Wedding Photo

Love is in the air for some of our fave Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2 stars! After we ogled over Maci Bookout and Taylor McKinney‘s stunning wedding album, we’re now falling in love with Chelsea Houska and Cole DeBoer’s new snapshot from their big day — featuring her impeccable, autumn-inspired flower crown, no less.

The pair celebrated their two-week wedding anniversary this past weekend by giving us this beautiful glimpse of their special day. Houska, who was all smiles in the photo, wrote on her Instagram post saying, “Best.Day.Ever. 10.01.16. @jakephotographysf did such an amazing job with our pictures! And @landiduh with my hair!” DeBoer also shared the dreamy pic on his Instagram saying, “Blessed 10.1.016 one amazing day!” With an embrace like that, it sure looks like a pretty fab day.

The newlyweds are now expecting another child to add to their household (DeBoer’s first kid!), and it seems like Aubree is pretty pumped to have a playmate around, too.

We’ve been rooting for this adorable couple since day one, and we have to admit we kiiiinda lost our sh*t when DeBoer proposed to the reality TV star back in November. “He was acting so weird,” Houska said in a Teen Mom 2 episode to her mom. “He took me to this spot he likes out in the woods, and he had me come out there. There was a whole bunch of trees and there were pictures of us three nailed up on there. I seriously covered my eyes and I was like, ‘Is this really happening?!'” But the absolute cutest part about his proposal was probably the fact that he asked Aubree permission to marry her mom first before popping the big question.

JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers' Wedding is On Hold — For a Very Important Reason

jojo fletcher jordan rodgers wedding on hold

Even though breakup rumors were swirling not too long ago, JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers are still going strong and finally getting down to wedding planning business — well, sort of. Most recently, The Bachelorette and her fiancé opened up about why their wedding is on hold: because they can’t find a wedding location!

“We’re trying to figure out where it’s going to be first,” Jordan explained to E! News. “We have family in California, family in Dallas…” he explained, noting that they hadn’t made a decision on the geographic location. “We’re just enjoying being together right now,” JoJo chimed in, adding that living together in Texas is “so good.”

Recently, the couple has been in the news because of rumors that their wedding was called off, but lucky they were just that — rumors. “I don’t know where those rumors are coming from,” Fletcher shared with TMZ. “Everything’s amazing. Same old same old,” she confirmed.

When it comes to the wedding, Fletcher and Jordan are excitedly making plans and sharing a few minor details — one being that it’s going to be BIG. “I have the biggest family and I know my mom already has the largest list of people to invite,” Fletcher explained. Big families plus a big Bachelor and Bachelorette lineup of besties (and Chris Harrison, one can only hope)? This is going to be one big celebration.

“We’re trying to figure out when it’s going to be first,” said Rodgers previously, which makes us think they may have picked a date. With his new gig as an ESPN football analyst, we’re sure that it’s taking up a good amount of time for the lovebirds. But as every busy bride and groom know, wedding planning is a part-time (full-time?) job, so dive in head first and get to planning so we can see it all unfold you two!
