Even though Prince Harry has made it very clear that he’s not trying to settle down yet (really though, when will he stop breaking hearts all over the world?), not everyone is listening — and some are even trying to change his mind. Case in point: While attending an event in England to promote sports and well-being in children, a young fan asked him the question that many ladies around the world have been dying to ask the redheaded royal — “Will you marry me?”

This six-year-old named Lottie used her time to speak with the prince during a recent charity event and decided to lay it all out there, saying the things that most women in the world are thinking. “I want to be a princess,” she explained (yasss queen, tell it how it is!). Fortunately for the rest of us, he did turn her down, but it was not without an explanation — something every girl wants to hear when rejected, obviously. “You don’t want that — there’s too big an age gap. You’ve been reading a lot of books,” he responded, according to E! News. We’re guessing Lottie felt pretty bummed with his backhanded compliment and rejection, but hey, we can’t fault her for trying. What girl doesn’t grow up wanting to marry a real-life prince — just ask any ’90s girl about her Prince William obsession.

Among the other lucky little ladies he chatted with was a girl named Mattie — who he bonded with over their shared vibrant bright red hair. “You’re nice, very pretty. Are you having fun?” he told her. Too cute. The prince attended this charity event to interact with the children, which was hosted by RFU and StreetGames, which helps British children from low-income households get better acquainted with sports activities. The chief executive, Jane Ashworth, had nothing but nice things to say about the royal heartthrob, noting his good deeds. “It’s fantastic that Prince Harry has such a commitment to helping young people through sport. I think it’s really clear from looking at the kids that they feel validated, that what they’re doing is important. Harry coming here reinforces that commitment.” Handsome AND good with kids? Sounds like marriage material to us.

So will Britain’s most eligible bachelor be off the market any time soon? With that charming smile and hint of bad-boy mystery (with a side of prince), only time will tell, as he’s definitely been toying with our emotions and wavering back and forth about the marriage situation. Most recently, the fourth-in-line to the throne was linked to actress/model Cressida Bonus, but the pair broke up in 2014. In 2015, the royal surprised many by saying he was all about dat (family) life and getting married, sharing with Sky News, “I would love to have kids right now. There come times when you think now is the time to settle down, or now is not, whatever way it is, but I don’t think you can force these things it will happen when it’s going to happen.” Well that sounded promising, until he revealed to the U.K.’s Sunday Times just last month that he has “massive paranoia that sits inside” of him when it comes to marriage. “If or when I do find a girlfriend, I will do my utmost…to ensure that me and her can get to the point where we’re actually comfortable with each other before the massive invasion that is inevitably going to happen into her privacy,” he said. “The other concern is that even if I talk to a girl, that person is then suddenly my wife, and people go knocking on her door.”

Fair enough, Prince Harry. At least you’re looking out for your future wife’s best interest. But just know that Lottie and the rest of the world is hoping you change your mind soon!
