Marilyn Monroe Looks as Glamorous as Ever in Newly-Released Wedding Video

Sixty years after her wedding day, never-before-seen footage of Marilyn Monroe and third husband Arthur Miller’s wedding has been found.

The rare videos, obtained by Vanity Fair shot by famous photographer and personal friend of Monroe’s, Milton H. Greene, are part of an exhibit at Morrison Hotel Gallery’s “Some Like it Hot” exhibit, which will also feature more footage and photographs of Monroe on set during some of her movie shoots as well as glimpses into her private life.

Greene’s videos of Monroe’s wedding reception are from 1956, and show the happy newlyweds holding cocktails, interacting with guests, laughing together, and even stealing a kiss. The reception was held after their second ceremony, a Jewish wedding at the home of Miller’s agent, Kay Brown. Their first ceremony was a civil ceremony that took place two days earlier in White Plains, New York.

Monroe’s iconic 1950’s wedding day style is easier to see than ever before, with great shots of her fussing with her chin-length veil and talking and laughing with guests in her curve-hugging mid-length sheath dress with empire waist and ruched bust. Though it is hard to see her hair and makeup under her veil, it looks as though she stuck with her infamous hair and makeup look that she can be seen wearing in many of her famous movies.

The video compilation (above) of Monroe’s wedding reception is combined with other rare footage for the upcoming exhibit show, including a musical performance from her 1956 movie Bus Stop and behind-the-scenes shots from some photoshoots.

Monroe and Miller met on the set of the movie As Young As You Feel, and were married for five years before they eventually divorced in 1961. It was her last marriage before her death in 1962. Her previous marriages were to her childhood acquaintance James Dougherty from 1942 to 1946 and famous New York Yankee Joe DiMaggio in 1954 (they divorced that same year).

The “Some Like it Hot” exhibit will be open from July 16-24 at the Morrison Hotel Gallery.
