At your wedding, there may be myriad heartwarming moments. (We certainly hope so.) But these moments really stand out for these brides and even one groom. Here, four couples share the most heartwarming stories from their wedding day.
“My husband surprised me with an additional wedding band. The Jewish religion requires you to get married in a solid wedding band to symbolize that love never ends, so we exchanged solid bands at our ceremony. But after the ceremony, my husband pulled out another ring that was made with diamonds, my birthstone, and sapphires, my favorite stone and birthstone for the month we wed. I love the wedding band, more so than my engagement ring, and I wear it often. Every time I wear it, I think about the thoughtfulness and love he put into purchase it, as it was an added expense that he did not have to take on.” — Charly
“A week before our wedding, we found out that my wife’s father had been diagnosed with cancer. We didn’t know if he would even make it to the wedding to give his daughter away. It was heartbreaking. He did make it to the wedding, however. He rested a lot and couldn’t participate in a lot of the multi-day festivities, but he did walk her down the aisle and danced with her during the father-daughter dance. Most of our guests didn’t know of his illness. But there were some that did, and I promise you none of them had a dry-eye during the dance knowing what this moment really meant to those involved.” — Krishna

“My husband and I got married 38 years ago. Before the wedding, we went around and took pictures of our friends and family — a bit of work, but worth it. Back then, there was only regular film, nothing digital. We had slides made and during the wedding played a song called, ‘All Good Gifts Surround Us,’ and we showed the slides of our family and friends, thanking them for coming. Then I surprised my husband with a song I wrote. During the rehearsal, I had the singer sing a traditional song. But during the actual ceremony, the singer announced he had a surprise for my husband: He was going to sing the song I wrote. It was a fun surprise for my husband as well as the guests, and we still talk about that.” — Silvana
“We expected our best man’s toast to be more like a roast. He’s never been the most warm-and-fuzzy, affectionate guy. But to our surprise, his toast brought tears to our eyes — and all of our guests’ eyes, too. He spoke so kindly of our relationship, how he had seen my husband grow and become a better man since he had met me. He even said he couldn’t have designed a better woman for his friend if he had tried. Even now, when we watch our wedding video, seeing his toast still brings tears to our eyes, and my husband can’t wait to repay the favor when he gets married.” — Amber
