Prince George Turns 3 Today and His Birthday Portraits Are Adorable

Pippa Middleton‘s potential ring bearer and your favorite heir to the British throne, Prince George, turned 3 today, and Kensington Palace released the cutest pictures of the tiny royal on Instagram to commemorate his big day.

The photos, taken by photographer Matt Porteous, were taken a few weeks ago at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge‘s house in Norfolk, and feature Prince George walking through the grounds in an adorable whale sweater, feeding ice cream to their dog Lupo, and swinging on a wooden swing with his parent’s names carved into it. The social media posts also came with messages from the royal palace and Porteous about the photo shoot.

“The Duke and Duchess hope that people will enjoy seeing these new photographs,” a quote from the Kensington Palace spokesperson reads. “They would like to thank everyone for all the lovely messages they have received as Prince George celebrates his third birthday.”

“I really enjoyed the opportunity to take these photographs of Prince George. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere,” the message from Porteous reads. “I’m honoured that they have decided to share these images with the public to mark his third birthday.”

In addition to his stylish photoshoot, the future king of England will be having a tea party at his parent’s country home in Anmer Hall to continue celebrating his birthday, according to People.

There is no official word on whether or not Prince George and his younger sister, Princess Charlotte, will be a part of his aunt Pippa Middleton’s upcoming wedding next year, but it is hard to imagine any other kids being her ring bearer and flower girl. We’re sure that she’ll find a place for all of the royals to play a part in her wedding to fiancé James Matthews. If by some surprise Prince George doesn’t land the role of ring bearer, these birthday photos prove that he could always snag a job as a catalogue model for J. Crew kids!

It’s been over two weeks now since Ciara and Russell Wilson married in a surprise wedding ceremony in England, and we’re still talking about the bride’s Roberto Cavalli wedding dress here at BRIDES. Yes, it was THAT gorgeous. If you’ve forgotten already (shame on you), the sultry singer donned a custom couture creation featuring endless yards of luxe lace, a corseted front bodice, and romantic bell sleeves. Sigh… But if you thought that her wedding day look was jaw dropping, just wait until you see what Ciara wore to her bachelorette party! The newly-wedded woman just posted a few throwback photos of her epic bachelorette bash in — where else? — Las Vegas, where she donned a couple of super sexy looks for the occasion.

#SquadGoals, y’all. For her bachelorette party, Ciara and her squad headed to Sin City for a wild weekend — and even wilder outfits. “The girls made cute CSquad patches for the crew,” Ciara wrote on Instagram, captioning a photo (below) of her Ciara-Squad bachelorette patch pinned on her stunning bridal white swimsuit. The look featured a lace-up design along the sides and tuft of tulle on the back as a mini-train. “#BacheloretteFestivities,” the singer wrote.

Ciara’s bachelorette squad also included another famous face — Serena Williams, whom she took an adorable selfie with in between all of the pre-wedding fun.

But the night was still young! Next up, Ciara slipped into an epic outfit that featured a black leotard, dramatic cape, thigh-high boots, and black bunny ears. She strutted her stuff in front of a backdrop of huge gold balloons that spelled out, “The Bride.”

“Fun times partying in costumes with my girls,” Ciara captioned the sultry snapshot. “They put this surprise #Vanity6 inspired look together for me, along with many other amazing surprises. I think they did an awesome job. #Bachelorette fun.”

Bridesmaids of the world, take note. Now this is how you plan a bachelorette bash!

How These 8 Brides Survived the Stress of Wedding Planning

Feeling like you’re trapped in a pressure cooker? You’re not alone, especially when it comes to wedding planning. While it is the best year of your life, it can also be the most stressful. Read how these eight brides-to-be reclaimed their sanity during wedding planning.

“In order to enjoy the wedding planning process and keep it stress free I had to come to terms with a few things: everyone has different opinions about for instance, which dress is the dress — mom, bridesmaids… Though I wanted to hear their ideas and opinions, I couldn’t make everyone happy and in the end I needed to make the decision. The people that love me shared in my happiness, knowing I got the wedding I dreamed of versus the wedding they had dreamed of for me.” — Arsineh, co-founder of Zveil, a bridal veil design company and online retailer

“I did a lot of surfing when I was planning my wedding. I even surfed the morning of my wedding to release some of that nervous energy!” — Audra

“I got married five years ago and I still remember how stressful the wedding planning was. My mom was heavily involved in planning and budgeting because my parents were paying for the wedding. I just learned to agree with her choices if I didn’t care too much because it was just easier to give up a small battle here and there and get a win in the area I cared about a little more. I didn’t care that much about which floral arrangements I used, so my mom took care of that task by herself. But I felt strongly about the bridesmaids’ dresses, so I went shopping by myself. I sent my mom only a few photos of different styles and made sure that the one I preferred was the winning one!” — Yana

“I planned my entire wedding in three weeks while experiencing a tumultuous pregnancy. It was my pregnancy that helped me persevere. When I got agitated I took a breath and reminded myself stress wasn’t good for the baby.” — Melody

“I ‘kidnapped’ my fiancé and took him away for a romantic weekend to remember why I was putting myself through all this craziness.” — Kim

“After becoming so stressed I was downing Pepto Bismol like it was going out of style, I made a pact with myself to devote 20 minutes a day to relaxing — meditation, yoga, reading… I ‘guarded’ this ‘me time’ religiously and it really helped ground me and distill the anxiety.” —Juliana

“I hired a wedding planner to deal with sussing out caterers, vendors, etc. Once I started delegating, the process was smooth sailing.” — Em

“My junk food eating habits weren’t doing my insides any favor. So I went to a nutritionist who recommended stress-busting foods like whole grains and veggies. I cut down on caffeine, started drinking herbal tea… This helped enormously!” — Shelly

“We cancelled the wedding and eloped!” — Ann

Kym Johnson Continues to Reveal More Impressive Details About Her Wedding to Robert Herjavec

Kym Johnson Wedding Plans

Photo: Getty Images

While tons of celebrities keep their big day details under lock and key, Kym Johnson is proving to be an open book when it comes to wedding planning. And thank heavens, right? We’ve been loving all these sneak peeks of her sure-to-be romantic wedding to Shark Tank star, Robert Herjavec. First, the Dancing with the Stars pro revealed that she’ll be wearing a surprisingly simple wedding dress when it comes time to walk down the aisle. Then, Johnson shared a video of her florist consultation — and the beautiful wedding flowers that came of it! And now, the Australian-born dancer is planning the most fun detail of all: The booze! Okay, maybe it’s a little much to say that it’s the most fun part, but designing your signature cocktails is definitely up there — and Johnson is bringing you along for the ride!

In an exclusive video (see below) with People, Johnson met with a few alcohol aficionados to design her signature cocktails and plan for not one, but two bars at her reception! A must for Johnson when it comes to big day drinks? A champagne bar, supplied by Le Medaillon Champagne. “I’m more of a champagne girl,” the bride-to-be declared. (Amen to that!) “I think champagne is celebration,” she explained of her choice. Well, pop the bubbly because this is one celebration we can definitely get behind!

But that’s not the only luxe liquor this couple will be serving to their guests. Johnson also wanted to include a whiskey bar — complete with signature cocktails, of course! — as a special treat for her groom. So what personalized drinks did this dancing pro and her Jack Daniels bartender dream up? First, is a twist on the classic Manhattan dubbed, “Respect Your Mother.” Also included on the menu is “The Starship,” a drink whose garnish includes edible glitter (gotta get some glitz in there, right?), and a whisky punch complete with Australian ginger beer. “Love that Aussie touch,” noted this Australian bride.

“Hopefully people don’t get too messy at the cocktail hour!” Johnson mused. Yeah, drunk wedding guests are never good. But hey, at least that means your signature cocktails went over well, right? “It’ll be fun,” the bride-to-be concluded. “I just want it to be a big party and a big celebration.” With those drinks, there’s no doubt about that!

7 Ways To 'Fake It Till You Make It' Back To A GOOD Marriage

couple coffee

Marriage is hard. Being a good partner in marriage is harder than being a good parent or excelling on the job. Both of those things take work, perseverance and patience. But marriage is just … well, different.

Like most marriages, mine has had its share of ups and downs. Mostly ups but I’d be lying if I said there were more than a few “I don’t think we’re going to make it” moments over the past 10 years, particularly in the early settling-in months of our marriage.

Some may find the phrase “fake it ’til you make it” distasteful or disingenuous, but real life is full of real doubts, real problems and rough patches. If you’re experiencing second thoughts or dissatisfaction in your relationship, consider the fake it ’til you make it approach versus writing your marriage off as something disposable.

1. Schedule couple time.
If you’re feeling frustrated, upset or even just ho-hum about your partner, your knee-jerk reaction may be avoidance. Make sure you’re clearing time to do things together, whether that’s date night, downtime or sexy time. That’s right, I said make time for sexy time.

Be deliberate about your time spent as a couple and you might surprise yourself and find that you’re looking forward to it.

2. Schedule alone time.
I’m a firm believer in alone time. Even the most extroverted extrovert needs at least some alone time. If you’re going through relationship troubles or even just experiencing ambivalence, taking that extra time to take care of you is all the more important. Meditate, exercise, or do something that gives you peace. If you take the time to nurture yourself, you’ll be a better partner.

3. Make a list of your partner’s good qualities.

Sit down and make a list of the things you like about your partner. There’s something that attracted you to him or her in the first place. Focus on those things. If you’re in fake it ’til you make it mode, it helps to keep your mind on positive traits.

4. Make sex a daily thing.
I’m not suggesting you fake that but if you’re in a committed relationship with your partner and are struggling with your feelings about the relationship, have sex. It reinforces closeness and those lovey-dovey romantic feelings, and, well, do you really need other reasons to have sex?

5. Stop holding grudges.
Yes, this is much easier to preach than to practice. But seriously, stop holding grudges. There are things about your significant other that will drive you batsh*t crazy. There may be things about him (or her) that fall into the realm of character flaws and you have to decide whether or not you can live with them and accept them.

Letting go of your grudges is a hard thing to do, but making a focused effort to do it will help you to focus on the positive attributes of your relationship, which is very important.

6. Accept responsibility for your actions.
This goes along with “stop holding grudges.” You have your flaws too and the potholes in your relationship probably have a least a little to do with you. Fake it ’til you make it pairs well with “give a little, get a little.” While you’re working on your relationship, be cognizant of things you’re doing to stall it.

7. Realize that all marriages have rocky patches.
I’m probably not the first person that said “I do” with unrealistic expectations of what “happily ever after” would look like. I got married in October to a man I’d had only one notable argument with during a two-plus year courtship. It came as a complete shock to my system when things got tough two weeks before Christmas.

Sometimes love, like and common ground aren’t enough to make a marriage go. Even the best marriages weather some storms and to expect idyllic perfection? Probably not very realistic.

There’s no black and white answer or a cure-all for a struggling marriage, but if you’re coasting and feeling “meh” about your partner and not ready to throw in the towel, these little tricks might help you figure out where you want to be.

I’m no expert on relationships, or anything else, really. I’m just a wife who stuck it out during a particularly rough period. And I’m glad I did.

Mila Kunis, Teresa Palmer, and Zoe Saldana Give Major Bridal Beauty Inspiration

celeb-beauty-july-22.jpg

Photo: Getty Images

Teresa Palmer keeps her smokey look light, Zoe Saldana gives us a gentle pop of color and Mila Kunis shows us the soft side of glam. These three red carpet looks are giving us major wedding beauty inspiration.

Teresa Palmer at the premiere of ‘Lights Out’: How do you keep a smokey look light and glowy? Let Teresa Palmer lead the way. Start by buffing a radiant-finish foundation into your skin, followed by a very subtle contour (buffing a matte bronzer into place helps keep the effect low key). Tightline the eyes with a brown pencil and create a smokey effect with shimmery copper and bronze shades, making sure you use plenty under the lower lashline, and finish off with just a coat or two of mascara. Plenty of highlighter along the cheekbones and brow area (apply it in that ‘c’ shape) and nude glossy lip keep things light and fresh. Another tip? Play down your eyebrows—a very against the trend approach—by either dying them a shade lighter or using a brow powder lighter than their natural color.

Zoe Saldana at the premiere of ‘Star Trek Beyond’: Looking for a sweet and ladylike way to incorporate some color into your bridal look? Zoe Saldana’s makeup is the definition of demure. A flawless complexion is warmed up slightly with a coral blush on the apples of the cheeks and highlighter along the cheekbones. Tightline the eyes with a black kohl pencil and swipe a pearly blue eyeshadow from the lashes to the crease of the upper lid. For Zoe, this shade coordinated perfectly with the hue of her dress, and a bride can easily match the pop of shadow color to her florals or other accent color. A coat of mascara and then a light pink lipstick applied not-too-precisely complete this laid back, ladylike look.

Mila Kunis at a private screening of ‘Bad Moms’:
Who says you can’t have it both ways? At least when it comes to your makeup, you can certainly go for the glam without losing sight of reality, just like Mila Kunis. After prepping your face with a lightweight foundation, use a pop of bright pink blush on the cheeks and highlighter on all the high points of the face. A glamorous look requires perfectly groomed brows, so make sure you get yours shaped by a professional before your big day. For the eyes, tightline with a kohl pencil and then extend the line out the corners and smudge the line into a slight cateye shape. Apply a gray eyeshadow from the lashline to the crease, and then use a shimmery silver shadow from the middle of the eye to the inner corner on both the lids and under the lower lashes. Use several coats of volumizing mascara, and line and color the lips with a soft pink, glossy lipstick.

These 5 Splurge-Worthy Kitchen Items Are a Wedding Registry Must

expensive wedding registry items

Photo: Getty Images

There seem to be a ton of rules when it comes to registering for your wedding. From what price points to include, to how many items to select, to which items are “worth it” — it’s easy for a fun task to turn into a head-spinning chore.

While we agree that there should be a variety of affordable items on your wedding registry, it is certainly okay to have a few big-ticket items as well, since some gift-givers love to give a communal gift, and friends or family close to you may be willing to splurge for your big day. Check out our favorite higher-end items to consider adding to your bridal registry.

Fine China
Ah, China. The one item that can send brides-to-be over the edge while registering and asking themselves, “How can this be so expensive?” “Will I ever really use it?” while you SHOULD NOT register for fine china just because you’re told to do so by your future mother-in-law, or “just in case,” you SHOULD register for it if you truly believe you will be hosting holidays, dinner parties, and more — fairly frequently. Think of it this way: It’s the only time in your life people may be willing to buy you a place setting that costs hundreds of dollars, so if you even think you might want or need fine china one day — go for it.

Once you decide to add the big-ticket item to your registry, the next challenge lies in picking a pattern. We recommend going for something timeless and classic, that will look great on any table, in any dining room — because who knows what your future may take you?

High Quality Bakeware & Cookware
Every budding chef needs some quality cooking items in their kitchens, so when adding cookware and bakeware to your registry, don’t skimp. Go all out and add those items and brands you’ve always dreamed of owning, even if you would never spend that kind of money yourself. Not sure what brand to scan? You really can’t go wrong with Le Creuset. The company’s first colorful cast iron piece made it’s debut in 1925 and it has been taking the culinary world by storm ever since. Not only are these pieces — ranging from lasagna pans to dutch ovens to cast iron skillets — vibrant (adding a pop of color to kitchens everywhere) they are also functional, durable, and versatile and have pretty great warranties.

A Knife Set Fit for Top Chefs
Even at the most basic level, anyone who cooks would agree that quality knives can make or break your cooking and kitchen prep experiences. Rather than stocking up on individual pieces, you really can’t go wrong by selecting a superb knife set, with bonus points for a sturdy and eye catching block in which to hold it. Luxury brands like Wusthoff and Chicago Cutler offer a variety of set pieces, including steak knives, pairing knives, scissors, and bread knives, gathered together in exceptionally crafted counter-ready blocks. Select quality stainless steel sets with sharpeners to ensure your knives last through the years.

A Top Caffeine Machine
At home coffee enthusiasts and on-the go sippers alike can attest to the fact that the machine really does make a difference between so-so coffee and a quality cup of joe. Aside from the fact that a quality coffee maker can help you save hundreds each year by skipping a daily visit to your local barista, there’s nothing better than enjoying your drink of choice in the comfort of your own home. (Poured into some cute mugs also gifted from your registry, perhaps?) While registering, consider Nespresso and Delonghi, as trusted manufacturers in the art of espresso, as well as Keurig and Cuisinart for high rated coffee brewers.

Luxe Stemware and Glassware
Every home needs a little sparkle, that’s a given. When it comes to adding a touch of elegance and luxury to your home, one of the best places to start is with your stemware and glassware. A classic go-to brand for high quality crystal is Waterford. First established centuries ago in Waterford, Ireland, this company has become the leader in luxury glassware as well as a staple on many bridal registries. As the brand has evolved, partnerships with designers like Monique Lhullier and Robert Mondavi have added a modern touch to classic designs. Perhaps the best part? Waterford has a more affordable branch, Marquis by Waterford, that offers sets at more modest price points so that everyone can experience the glamour of crystal stemware.

5 Awesome Ideas for Your Joint Bachelor/Bachelorette Party

joint bachelor bachelorette party ideas

Gone are the days when brides and grooms would celebrate their final single days separately with competing bachelorette and bachelor parties. For brides and grooms — and same-sex couples! — that share a lot of the same friends, hosting two separate parties may seem like kind of a waste of time — and a missed opportunity to celebrate with all their loved ones before the big day. To combat this dilemma, a new trend in pre-wedding parties has popped up: The bachelor/bachelorette party hybrid, which brings all friends together for a crazy good time. Instead of focusing on a bash for just the bride or just the groom, this joint party can be inspired by who the bride and groom are as a couple, along with their shared interests and friends.

If you’re throwing one of these joint parties, you might not want to stick to the same old club-and-stripped script. For some out-of-the-box inspiration that will appease all attendees, check out our favorite ideas for your co-ed bachelor/bachelorette party.

Friendly Competition
Instead of the typical rowdy club scene, challenge your wedding party to a friendly bridesmaids vs. groomsmen sports showdown. Rent out some field or gym space, get some team T-shirts, and the possibilities are endless — dodge ball, flag football, even a series of Olympic-style relay games could be a total trip. Encouraging some competitive play can help bond your wedding party, and you all can keep the fun going at a sports bar, where the losing team can pick up the bar tab.

Road Trip
If you and your fiancé are looking to participate in the typical bachelor/bachelorette party activities (night clubs, a stripper or two, and partying into the wee hours of the morning), consider renting a van or bus and driving to Vegas, NOLA, or another nearby city as a group instead of just the bridesmaids or just the groomsmen. It’s like a field trip for adults, but instead of ending up on a boring walking tour, your final destination is an epic bash. Obviously major fun will be had at whichever city you end up, but turning the drive into it’s own co-ed road trip adventure will give your joint celebration a totally fun upgrade.

Adult Sleep Away Camp
Who said that sleep away camp is just for kids? All over the country there are adults-only summer camps that bring out the kid in you while still offering up adult perks like no curfew and plenty of booze. Couples looking for a more authentic camp experience should consider Camp No Counselors, where the day is filled with fun camp activities and the night is filled with open bars and all-night themed parties. Camp Grounded is more akin to the camp experience you remember as a kid, full of games, fireside s’mores, and crafting, but without any adult distractions, like alcohol or technology. There are even programs like Adult Space Academy, for everyone that might be too old for space camp but would still jump at the chance to learn about being a real-life astronaut.

Good Ol’ Fashioned Camping
A trip to the great outdoors may be just what you and your fiancé need to destress from planning the wedding. As opposed to the wild party that happens at some adult sleep away camps, a wedding party camping trip is all about enjoying the great outdoors. You can opt for the authentic camping trip experience and head to a nearby campground to set up tents, build a fire, and really rough it in the wilderness, or rent a cabin so that you can spend more time hiking, fishing, and enjoying more mellow outdoor activities. We suggest checking the Kampgrounds of America website to find a camping reservation near you.

Backyard Barbecue
The best thing about throwing an easy backyard party is that it’s, well, easy. There typically isn’t a whole lot of planning and coordinating involved, and it is way cheaper than planning a huge destination bachelor bash, so the wedding party doesn’t have to worry about emptying their wallets for yet another wedding expense. Creating a theme, finding fun decorations, setting up outdoor games, and customizing an out-of-the-ordinary barbecue menu can give your celebration the playful, youthful party vibe for which bachelor parties are typically known.
