Don’t call it a comeback. We’re seriously loving pear-shaped engagement rings right now, and we’re not the only ones. Celebrities have embraced the iconic cut — pointy on one side, rounded on the other, shaped like a teardrop — for as long as we can remember. And why wouldn’t they, no matter its size, a pear-shaped diamond always seems to sparkle just a little bit more than its counterparts. From Jessica Simpson to Victoria Beckham, see our favorite celebs that have worn a pear-shaped engagement ring.

Amongst her enviable collection of bling and baubles (that reportedly consists of 13 engagement rings — nearly one for each year of her 15 year marriage!) Victoria Beckham opted to swap out her original marquise cut engagement ring from hubby David Beckham for something a bit more unique and of course, bigger. Her enormous pear shaped solitaire is estimated at between 15 and 17 carats, and showcases a vintage cut set within a platinum band.

Katherine Heigl
“It’s ridiculously big,” Katherine Heigl told Cosmopolitan when asked about her engagement ring, and we’d like to add that it’s also ridiculously gorgeous. Singer, songwriter and actor hubby Josh Kelly proposed in 2006 with a three-carat pear-shaped diamond, nestled in the center of a radiant pear halo with a pave diamond band — and, natch, she said yes. As if her ring wasn’t special enough — half of the band actually came from the actress’ mother’s ring. Aww…

NHL star Dione Phaneuf proposed to actress Elisha Cuthbert in 2012 after a four-year courtship with a stunning yet simple (and massive) pear-shaped solitaire set in an elegant platinum band. The couple celebrated with close friends and family shortly thereafter with a surprise engagement party and have been married since their 2013 fairtyale-esque nuptials.

While their relationship may be surrounded with rumors and questions as to whether or not they secretly tied the knot, one thing is for sure: Tennis pro Anna Kournikova’s engagement ring is something to talk about. An 11-carat pink pear shaped diamond from the mines of western Australia is flanked by two Trillian diamonds (triangle shaped) on each side that only add to its uniqueness and brilliance.

Created by jeweler Maison Repossi of Paris, this three-carat pear shaped diamond surrounded by brilliant round diamonds on a white gold band was given to Princess Charlene by Prince Albert when he popped the question in 2010. Known across the globe for her chic and effortless demeanor, this ring suits her style perfectly, adding a bit (okay, a lot) of sparkle to her sleek appearance.

We just can’t forget this sparkler, even if it hurts to think about it. Although (le sigh.…) Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have moved on, and while we’re thrilled they both have found new love and happiness, this engagement ring will live on in the hearts and minds of all Newlyweds fans. Stunning in its simplicity, this 4-carat pear shaped stone was surrounded by diamonds throughout the band and dazzled as brightly as Jessica’s dazzling, enviable smile.

8 Creative Ways to Use Trees in Your Wedding

creative-ways-to-use-trees-in-wedding.jpg

Forget flowers! Okay, not actually, but turns out greenery is all the rage right now and trees are definitely trending. From creating a more intimate space to hiding the not so pretty stuff (like speakers), here are eight creative ways to incorporate trees into your wedding d&#233cor.

1. Bring the outdoors inside.
Turn your indoor wedding into the ultimate garden party with some strategically placed trees! “For example, our bride really wanted a garden vibe at her St. Regis Atlanta wedding so for the tented ceremony we brought in tree-like arrangements on pedestals to frame the ceremony and create an outdoorsy forest feel,” describes Sarah Chancey, Founder of Chancey Charm. Then afterward, they moved indoors for the reception and brought the garden with them! “We went above and beyond with tree-like centerpieces and grass runners, which truly transformed the ballroom into a whimsical, upscale space that brought our bride’s garden vision to life.”

2. Define the space.
Trees are not only a great way to make an indoor reception feel like the outdoors, but using them around your dance floor can also help define the space and create a more intimate feel, especially if you’re in a large, traditional ballroom, notes Marilisa Schachinger of Martel Events.

3. Soften the technical details (AKA hide the ugly stuff).
Don’t want those tent poles or supporting beams in barns showing? Luxury wedding and event planner Tara Consolati of Tara Consolati Events suggests using trees to help camouflage them! “Trees on either side of the band stage can also help soften the “technical” details of sound equipment and speakers,” adds Schachinger.

4. Add show-stopping elements to your ceremony.
Want to really blow your guests away? Get creative and up the wow-factor at your ceremony with some show-stopping details. For instance, if you love fully grown Japanese Cherry Blossoms or Knock Out Rose trees, planner Lizzy Hill of Chancey Charm Memphis recommends putting one right in the middle of your ceremony seats. “As planners, we always look for height and dimension in design details and reception centerpieces, but adding show-stopping, attention-getters in the actual ceremony gives the wedding a truly unique touch.”

5. Create an escort (or place) card tree.
If you have a great entryway, you can always create a striking escort card tree that will wow your guests, notes Laura Irizarry-Garcia, owner of LIG Events. This idea, of course, works for place cards too and even favors if you want to get super creative!

6. Make the event space even more cute, cozy and charming
To instantly make a space more intimate, place trees around the perimeter of the room, advises Irizarry-Garcia. They will soften the hard lines of the walls and enclose the space in a gentle manner, creating a cozier environment, she says. “Also, who wouldn’t love dining in a beautiful all&#233e of trees? Placing a long table between two rows of trees is a stunning way to create a magical and memorable space, even if you are indoors.”

7. Turn them into centerpieces
Trees as centerpieces…sounds crazy, right? Wrong! “At a recent wedding taking place at The Peninsula Chicago, we placed trees on top of tables and illuminated the tables,” tells planner Bianca Hall of Estera Events. “This is a great way to bring the ceiling down a little bit and make everything feel warm and friendly. It’s also a unique take on the traditional centerpiece.” Perfect for the earthy bride!

8. Use a tree (or trees) as your ceremony backdrop and a photo opp
No need to spend a ton of dough on ceremony flowers if your venue is full of natural beauty already! For example, in one wedding Hall planned, the ceremony backed up to a line of trees to create a beautiful sightline for guests, which only added to the natural design of the wedding. As a planner that focuses mainly on the outdoor, vintage and shabby chic style of weddings, Danielle Rothweiler of Rothweiler Event Design, says she’s used trees in various ways. “Some venues have gorgeous trees right on site and they are the perfect backdrop for a ceremony which means you don’t need to bring in an arch or anything else, but instead can use the tree and decorate it. I’ve also used trees to line entrances and frame an aisle to a ceremony.”

Remember, scale is everything when it comes to trees!
An 8-foot tree sounds like it’s tall, but it will look very small in a ballroom, warns Irizarry-Garcia. “The bigger, the better. However, make sure the trees will be able to make their way in and out of the space! And don’t forget lighting. Lighting trees properly will only enhance their appearance and make them more impressive.”

Signed, Sealed, Delivered: A Definitive Guide to Hand-Canceling Your Wedding Invitation Envelopes

how to address your wedding invitations

Photo: Ruby the Fox

There are infinite ways to dress up your wedding invitations, from belly bands and pocket folds to fabric-covered boxes and multi-piece wedding weekend kits. While adding a little extra detail to your invites doesn’t have to cause the cost to skyrocket, the more pieces and three-dimensional items you add can make sending out your invitations a little more complicated. Most mail is canceled by machines (that’s what prints those lines and dates over postage stamps), but if the envelope is uneven or bulky, the machine can cause the envelope to rip and can potentially damage whatever is inside. That’s where hand-canceling comes in. Essentially, each stamp on your envelope is marked (or “canceled”) using a hand stamp instead of as it’s run through the machine, preventing your painstakingly-stuffed envelopes from being torn before they’ve even left the post office. Does this service sound like something you might need? Here are a few tips to keep in mind before you head to the mailbox.

Check With Your Postmaster
Before you apply any stamps to your invitations, assemble a mock-up (complete with all the inserts and accoutrements) and bring it to the post office to be weighed and checked by the postmaster or another USPS employee. They will be able to check if your envelope is too bulky to be canceled by machine, as well as tell you how much postage you’ll need based on the weight of your invitations.

Purchase the Correct Postage
Now that you know how much your invitation weighs and if it requires hand canceling, purchase a combination of stamps (or a single custom stamp) that reaches your necessary postage. Remember that hand-canceling requires an extra cost (currently $0.21), so if your envelopes need to be hand-canceled, that amount needs to be included in the postage. For example, an envelope that is light enough to be mailed using a $0.47 first class stamp (up to 1 oz.) would require $0.68 of postage if it needs to be hand-canceled.

Do It Yourself
While it varies from place to place, some post offices will allow you to hand-cancel envelopes yourself. You’ll have to stamp all the envelopes in the post office, but you’ll be able to see that everything was handled carefully!

Make It Clear
Can’t hand-cancel the envelopes yourself? No problem, the postmaster or another post office employee will be able to do it for you. Try to head to the post office at an off hour so you can talk with the post office employee about what you’ll need, and consider printing “Hand Cancel” in the upper left corner of your envelopes (opposite the stamps) so nothing gets missed.

4 Reasons You Should Honeymoon in Carmel

carmel-honeymoon-idea.jpg

Photo: Getty Images

Brides looking for a California honeymoon destination, look no further. Carmel-by-the-Sea, often just called Carmel, has long been a haven for artists, poets and actors (in fact, Clint Eastwood is a former mayor) and its artistic soul is apparent not only in the dozens of art galleries that line its streets, but in its bohemian vibe as well. There are no chain restaurants and no addresses and almost every business is dog-friendly. It’s also one of the most romantic places you should definitely consider for a honeymoon. Here, 4 reasons why Carmel makes the perfect mini honeymoon location.

A Rich History
Carmel was founded way back in 1902 and, like much of this stretch of California coastline, has a history woven of American and Spanish settlements. To learn more about the area’s history, visit the Tor House, built by Robinson Jeffers in 1920 or check out the Mission San Carlos Borromeo del rio Carmelo, also known as the Carmel Mission. There are four museum galleries that describe the mission’s restoration efforts and the history of the mission and the local area.

Beautiful Scenery
Carmel is located on one of the most beautiful sections of the Californian coast, and there are plentiful ways to take in the beauty. 17-Mile Drive is a scenic road through Pebble Beach and Pacific Grove. The drive is actually the main road through the gated community of Pebble Beach and there is small fee to enter.

Nearby, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve contains a number of hiking trails, many next to the ocean, and a smaller number of beaches.

la bicyclette

Wine and Dine
The Carmel Valley and Santa Lucia Highlands are home to dozens of award winning wineries, many of which have tasting rooms in Carmel. There are 14 tasting rooms in total; pick up a Wine Tasting Passport for $65 and enjoy a Wine Walk flight at 9 of the 14 tasting rooms. The Wine Walk by-the-Sea(TM) is a self-paced, self-guided stroll to the tasting rooms which are all within a few blocks of each other on both sides of Ocean Avenue.

While Carmel has no chain restaurants, it has no shortage of fine dining. There’s romantic Casanova, located in an old house, and serving French and Italian cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. The same owners run La Bicyclette, a Parisian-inspired cafe with delectable thin-crust pizza made in a wood fired oven. For something quick, stop by Salumeria Luca Italian Deli and Bakery for a sandwich or salumi plates and pick up a sweet treat at Lula’s Chocolates, which offers caramels dipped in chocolate topped with your choice of nine different sea salts from around the world.

Romantic Hotels
In Carmel, there’s no more romantic spot than the elegant La Playa Carmel, built around a 1905 mansion owned by a member of the famed Ghirardelli family. Known as the “Grande Dame of Carmel” the historic hotel has been fully renovated and offers 75 rooms with spectacular ocean garden or estate views, beautiful landscaped groups with gardens, patios, and a terrace swimming pool, and a historic bar and adjacent patio with views of the sea.

Just outside of town, the Hyatt Carmel Highlands is a bit removed from the action, but the trade off for proximity to town is spectacular ocean views from rooms perched high above the hillside.

On a smaller budget, the cozy Hotel Carmel is located in the heart of town and offers beachy-chic rooms with gas fireplaces, a courtyard with fire pit and Jacuzzi, morning bagel breakfast and evening wine hour.

Is Miranda Kerr's Billionaire Boyfriend Ready to Propose?

Could wedding bells be in the air for Miranda Kerr and her billionaire boyfriend, Snapchat founder Evan Speigel?

Kerr and Speigel, founder and CEO of Snapchat, have been dating for a year and recently bought a $12 million dollar mansion in Los Angeles (which, fun fact, was the former home of Harrison Ford). A source told Us Weekly that not only is Speigel ring shopping for an upcoming proposal, but that he is the one looking to have an “extravagant wedding, in true Evan style.”

Though no details have yet been released about their potentially upcoming nuptials, Spiegel being worth a reported $2.1 billion dollars assures that they can pretty much have whatever kind of over-the-top wedding they want. Let’s hope they decide to live-stream their nuptials on Snapchat so that we can all be invited to their big day!

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Kerr said that she and Spiegel were friends before they a started dating after meeting at a dinner for Louis Vuitton.

This would be Kerr’s second marriage, having perviously been married to Orlando Bloom from 2010 to 2013. She and Bloom have a child together, a 5-year-old son named Flynn, and Kerr says that not only has Spiegel won over her son, but also her former husband. Kerr told The Edit, “Orlando thinks he’s great. We’re just a modern family now!”

The couple has yet to comment on whether or not they are planning to take the next big step in their relationship, but one can only assume that when they decide to go public with their plans, it will be in a 10 second Snapchat video.

See How One BRIDES Editor Planned a Modern-Meets-Vintage Wedding in the Heart of Jersey City

Jen and Tyler first met as neighbors in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in 2009 — she was pursuing her Masters in psychology at Lehigh while he was getting his MBA from Moravian and coaching their basketball team. Months later, the two bonded over their mutual love of Dumb and Dumber (“We can both quote it verbatim, of course!”) and realized there was something between them. While sparks were certainly flying, Jen was gearing up for a move to Washington, D.C., so the duo decided to stay in touch and see what happened. Despite several states between them, their relationship flourished and when each was offered a job in the New York City metro area, they both jumped at the chance to move to Hoboken and live in the same zip code again.

On February 3, 2014, Tyler decided to make it official with a proposal on Jen’s birthday that include all of her favorite things: Vanderpump Rules, Benny Tudino’s Pizza, and the couple’s French bulldog, Pierre. “It was the end of the show and I was in the middle of chowing down on a gigantic slice of pizza when he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him,” Jen says. “I couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect. It was simple, us, and Pierre was there begging for pizza.”

As the two planned for their July 18, 2015, wedding, Jen and Tyler had three must-haves for their venue: It needed to have a stunning view, great ambience, and delicious food. In the end, they chose Jersey City‘s Batello, an industrial-meets-rustic venue with epic views of New York City, high ceilings with hanging lights, and seriously incredible grub. Want to see how this BRIDES staffer’s (Jen’s our associate digital editor and the founder of HobokenGirl.com!) big day came together? Read on to see how, with the help of EVJ Wedding Co., this couple mixed modern décor with vintage style, as documented by Andrew Graham Todes Photography.

To find her dream wedding dress, Jen first tried on gowns with her mother and best friend before selecting “the one” at a pal’s bridal salon, Vows, in Boston. Her Lazaro wedding dress, which featured a stunning embroidered bodice, started out as a ball gown but the bride-to-be envisioned more of a flowing, A-line silhouette. To get the style she loved, the salon was able to remove layers of tulle from the fuller skirt. “I knew I couldn’t live without the beaded bodice!” she says.

Soft curls, a flowing veil, and a swoon-worthy bouquet of garden roses and baby’s breath completed her bridal look.

Tyler was every bit the handsome groom in his black seersucker tuxedo from J.Crew. “He was supposed to wear a white pocket square but he forgot it!” Jen laughs.

The couple decided on an almost private first look — Pierre was there to join in on the fun! “It was so special to have our first look alone,” Jen says. “We were right in front of our favorite building in Hoboken, which is where we started our lives together, in one city, as a couple, so it was important to us to take pictures here.”

Pierre even rocked a tuxedo and red bowtie for the special day.

The bride asked her ‘maids to choose their own knee-length champagne or beige dress. “It came together very nicely,” Jen says. “I know mismatched dresses can be tricky sometimes but I wanted the girls to look beautiful, unique, and different from each other.” Her bridesmaids all carried arrangements of tea roses and baby’s breath to complement Jen’s bouquet.

Like the bride, the groom wanted to keep things easy for his attendants, so he gifted each guy with a black skinny tie and leather shoes, meaning all they had to do was show up with a black suit and white button down. “We wanted their looks to be classic and easy,” Jen says. “Black and white with no frills so the ladies would really stand out.”

While their venue was on the waterfront, the couple decided not to do photos with the skyline in the background. “We chose more of a street photo feel since we wanted to embrace getting married in an urban area,” says Jen, who also happens to be a photographer (so great photos were a must). “We found this amazing wall in Jersey City that wasn’t far from the venue and had a painted, graffiti look. It was a fun backdrop for photos.”

The couple’s aisle was lined with white gladiolus that were arranged in cylindrical vases. Guests were seated in chiavari chairs that faced an altar made of draped white fabric. “The venue doesn’t need much dressing up,” the bride says. “It has cathedral ceilings, industrial décor, and hanging lights, plus a beautiful view of the skyline through the floor-to-ceiling windows.”

Jen’s father and 21-year-old brother walked her down the aisle while an acapella version of Ed Sheeran’s rendition of “In My Life” played throughout the space.

The ceremony was personalized from start to finish. Tyler’s best friend from high school read a collection of quotes about love, relationship, and marriages gathered from the couple’s parents and close friends. Then, the bride and groom exchanged heartfelt (and funny!) vows they penned themselves. “The vows were my favorite part of the day,” Jen says. “They really showed who we are as a couple. There were lots of tears and laughter from our guests and from us. Even Tyler broke down a bit and he never cries.”

Among their favorite lines from their vows were a quote from Dumb & Dumber (“What are the odds of a guy like you and a girl like me getting together…”), a March madness reference, and promises to split black and white cookies down the middle.

Guests sipped the couple’s two signature drinks during cocktail hour: “Something Blue,” the bride’s choice of hypnotiq and champagne, or a “Vanilla Mule,” the groom’s choice of a Moscow Mule upgrade with vanilla vodka.

Instead of a traditional guestbook, the newlyweds asked guests to get creative with The Haiku Guys, who helped friends and family whip up funny poems for Jen and Tyler to read after the wedding.

“Our vision for the wedding was to create an intimate feel, but also ‘wow’ our guests with the views we love of New York City from New Jersey,” Jen says. They did just that with the vintage-inspired elements they brought into the industrial space. As a photographer, the bride wanted to include vintage cameras as part of their centerpieces, so she hit up flea markets, estate sales, and browsed Ebay for the perfect antiques. Her future mother-in-law helped cover old encyclopedias with kraft paper for another vintage element.

Along with plenty of cameras and books, tables were also decked out with vintage lace linens, lush arrangements of garden roses in gold vases, and mercury glass candles.

In lieu of favors, Jen and Tyler donated to the Adult Congenital Heart Association and the French Bulldog Rescue. “They’re two organizations that are near and dear to our hearts, since we have a French bulldog and because I was born with a congenital heart defect and had open heart surgery at 4-months-old,” the bride says. “They were easy choices instead of gifts and we let everyone know about it by tying a red heart with the donation information to every napkin.”

After a decadent dinner of short ribs and scallops (“The food at Battello is something to write home about in itself,” says the bride), guests dug into slices of the couple’s four-tier naked red velvet wedding cake.

Jen and Tyler shared their first dance to “Hero” by Enrique Iglesias before inviting all of their guests to join them. And join them they did! “The dance floor was packed all night,” Jen says. “Four people ripped their pants from dancing, including the groom! Too much limbo.”

Following the reception, the newly minted Mr. and Mrs. invited guests to a pizza-fueled after party where everyone was invited to dig into slices from the same local pizzeria that Tyler proposed over. Jen and Tyler, who enjoyed a three-week-long honeymoon in the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Rome, and Santorini, remind future couples to enjoy wedding planning and make your day how you want it. “I’m so grateful to have celebrated marrying the love of my life in such a special way, true to who we are as a couple,” the bride says.

5 Ways to Be the Best Wedding Guest Ever (Before the Big Day Even Arrives)

Without guests, a wedding is just an elopement, and from the proposal to the moments before the couple heads down the aisle, putting together a fabulous party for family and friends is pretty high on the list of priorities. So while an engaged couple spends a lot of time thinking about ways to create the best wedding ever for their guests, what can guests do to make sure they’re making the experience just as wonderful for the happy couple? Here are five tips guaranteed to make you one of the best wedding guestsbefore the wedding day even arrives.

RSVP On Time
Better yet, RSVP early! Make note of the RSVP deadline as soon as you open the invitation, then take a look at your calendar. Once you know whether you’ll make it (as well as any other details requested on the RSVP card), fill it out and pop it in the mail. Nothing stresses out a couple like having to track down guests weeks after the deadline. This applies even if you can’t attend — don’t assume that they’ll know your lack of RSVP means you won’t make it. Oh, and don’t forget your name!

Check Their Website
Sure, texting or emailing the bride or groom might seem faster, but if they’ve put in the time to create a website full of important information like hotel room blocks and recommended local activities, check there first before you start asking questions. Chances are everything you need to know is all in one place, and if it isn’t, let the bride know you looked but couldn’t find the information you needed. You’re probably not the only person wondering if Ubers are available in the area, so she can update the site if needed.

Pay Attention to Recommendations
Did the couple strongly recommend you stay in a certain town or mention that they’ll be providing a shuttle? Trust us, they have a good reason. Whether the venue is remote and they want you to stay as close as possible or they simply don’t have space for parking, these details all get thought about over and over throughout the planning process, so trust that the couple’s suggestions are there because it will make your experience better, too.

Share Any Dietary Restrictions
This is a good one to note when you’re mailing in that early RSVP card. If you have any serious dietary restrictions (we’re talking allergies, not “I don’t like cilantro”), add a quick note so the couple can alert their caterer in advance. It’s much easier for them to either let you know which meal option doesn’t include dairy or have the caterer prepare a plate that’s nut-free than to try to scramble to come up with an option when you’re already at your table for dinner.

Let Them Know if Things Change
Did you break up with your boyfriend, or did a big work project come up that means you can’t take time off to attend? Let the couple know ASAP if anything about your RSVP changes so they can make any changes needed to table assignments and catering counts. You aren’t required to give a detailed explanation, but don’t just not show up.

Ciara's Custom-Made Wedding Shoes Are EVERYTHING

Ciara Russell Wilson Wedding Photo

Thought we were done fawning over Ciara’s drop dead gorgeous wedding day style? Oh, how wrong you are! How could we possibly be over the luxe look when there are so many aspects to ooh and aah over? Those bell sleeves… That corseted front… All of that lovely lace… With so many eye-popping details in Ciara’s Roberto Cavalli custom couture wedding dress, we almost forgot about the cherry on top of any bridal ensemble — the shoes! So what kind of wedding-worthy heel carried the sultry star down the aisle? The gorgeous kind, duh

The “Dance Like We’re Making Love” singer certainly did just that at her recent wedding to Russell Wilson in a perfect pair of shoes Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti made just for the occasion. And while you may think that no shoe could possibly compete with Ciara’s swoon-worthy wedding dress, Giuseppe Zanotti obviously knew what he was doing, as the expert shoe couturier whipped up a pretty pair of heels so beautiful that they made the bride’s English castle wedding even more of a fairytale. (Every Cinderella needs her glass slippers, right?)

To compliment the rest of the singer’s “I do” look, Giuseppe Zanotti created a custom pair of sandals with a mid-high heel, using white satin. The designer also added a bit of lace on the refined ankle strap in order to tie together Ciara’s lace gown and her stunning shoes. Just the sketch is enough to make you swoon, right?

But the bride wasn’t the only member of the wedding party to get the royal treatment when it came to footwear. For the rehearsal dinner, Ciara’s son, Future Zahir Wilburn, also rocked a one-of-a-kind pair of shoes courtesy of Giuseppe Zanotti — white leather sneakers, embellished with a sleek silver strap. How is this kid so fly at only 2-years-old?

So are you head-over-wedding-heels in love with Ciara’s complete bridal ensemble? The singer herself certainly is! She posted her thanks to the designer on social media, writing “Thank you, Mr. Giuseppe for all your hard work you put into making sure I had the perfect shoe for my wedding. Love you.”

Want to whip us up a similar couture creation, Zanotti? We’ll love you too!

Kristen Stewart gets suited up, Ciara has that newlywed glow, and Olivia Munn puts in some practice in a wedding-perfect white gown. Here, the red carpet bridal looks we couldn’t get enough of this week.

Kristen Stewart at Good Morning America Studios: We’re all for the pre-wedding party suit: it’s simple, chic, and great for wearing again later in a myriad of ways. Kristen Stewart loves a menswear-inspired look, so it was no surprise to see her in a white duo by The Kooples this week—perfect for your laid-back engagement party or bridal shower with a fun pair of pumps or sandals. You can absolutely opt for bedhead hair like the Café Society star, or slick your hair into a sleek chignon or ponytail.

Ciara at the 2016 ESPYs: Days after their gorgeous wedding in Cheshire, Ciara and Russell Wilson hit the red carpet—one of the best dressed and most gorgeous couples of the evening might we add. Ciara channeled a glamorous, bridal palette in a silver and blush Roberto Cavalli gown with a sequin bodice, plunging neckline, and cutout detailing: designed by the same man who crafted her wedding gown, Peter Dundas. The fashion-forward, sultry newlywed may actually want to choose this gown for her ceremony, but we recommend it for your rehearsal dinner—it will look fabulous in pictures and will make your spouse even more excited for your big day. Ciara’s faux bob created by celebrity hairstylist Cesar Ramirez is a great way to play with length, and then let your hair down (proverbially and literally) later on.

Olivia Munn at the 2016 ESPYs: Though Olivia Munn isn’t engaged to boyfriend Aaron Rodgers just yet, they sure put in some practice on the red carpet this week. She was clad in a white Antonio Berardi gown with gold grommet detailing—a stunning, wedding-perfect number that totally took our breath away. We loved Olivia’s dewy skin and loose waves: an easy, breezy, and beautiful bride-to-be. Are wedding bells in her near future? We can only hope so! We’ll of course be tracking every bridal-inspired moment she has until then…

6 Things That Seriously Annoy Bridesmaids, According to Real Bridesmaids

While being surrounded by your best girls on your big day is usually filled with laughter, fun, and happy tears, there are certain things that can definitely rub your bridesmaids the wrong way if not approached delicately. Even though it’s your big day, it’s important to be considerate to the ladies in waiting who have committed the last year to getting you ready for married life. To help you, here real bridesmaids share the major faux pas that brides committed leading up to their big day. Learn from these ladies in waiting so that you don’t annoy your own!

“All seven of us were together when we opened our ‘invites’ to be part of her bridal party. Cute? Not when you factor in that the bride-to-be asked each of us to be Maid of Honor! Do people really do that — like Pick a Lane? Any Lane?” — Candice

“I lived on the other side of the country, but she wanted us to buy our dresses at a local boutique. While I was home on break, we all tried on dresses and found one that looked great on everyone. The store took our measurements, and I thought everything would be fine. Later, the bride changed her mind about the dress and chose another one. All the other bridesmaids got to try it on, and it looked great! They ordered the dress for all of us using the original measurements. Unfortunately, the store mixed up my bust measurement with another skinnier bustier bridesmaid. Nobody noticed the mistake because I wasn’t there to try mine on. So a week before the wedding when I tried on my dress, it was HUGE in the bust and didn’t fit at all in the waist. They hastily hacked it together, cutting out fabric from the bust and putting it in the waist. It was the most unflattering dress I have ever worn, and the front looked patched together because they had to cut and move so much fabric. I still love my friend, but that dress was the worst bridesmaid experience of my life.” — McLean

“I don’t expect much if you’ve asked me to be in your wedding. Chances are, you’re a good friend and I want to be with you on your special day. There was no gift, which was okay. But my friend didn’t even say ‘thank you‘ at the end of the reception. I felt like a minion. A phone call after she got back from the honeymoon would have been nice. Didn’t get that either.” — Sheila

“I had to buy the hideous dress and uncomfortable shoes – okay. And day of, get the mani pedi. But she didn’t even offer to spring for makeup and hair.
My outfit and getting ready totaled more than $1000. That felt like a high price to pay, especially when we weren’t that close.” — Carol

“She changed the date of the Bachelorette party three times — including two days before it was to happen. There was no regard for the schedules or needs of her bridesmaids.” — Ivy

“She turned her bridesmaids into slave labor. The coup de grace was the day of the wedding when my soon to be ex friend discovered the dainty wooden fans she wanted placed on the chairs of the 260 guests had ‘Made in China’ stickers. Guess who had to go down on her knees, going chair to chair, scraping off stickers!” — Ann

“Despite knowing I had recently been heartlessly dumped, she demanded all the bridesmaids – including me – bring a ‘plus one.’ I had to take my brother. I spent the whole night crying – and not tears of happiness for my friend.” — Tami

“She purposely made us wear ugly dresses so there wouldn’t be any competition for belle of the ball.” — Lisa
