Why Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Got Into A Huge Fight At This Wedding

Umm, faux pas much? Kim Kardashian West revealed the serious wedding guest no-no that she and husband Kanye West committed at a famous pal’s nuptials. Among failing to mail back that RSVP card and bringing an uninvited plus-one, another major mistake when it comes to wedding guest etiquette is bringing your own drama to someone else’s big day. They registered for a toaster, not your relationship baggage, you know? But Kimye definitely failed to abide by that rule when the couple got into a serious spat at the wedding of their celebrity BFFs Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.

In a chat with Teigen that Kardashian recently posted to her app, the reality star got real about the fight she got into with her sweetheart — via text message — right in the middle of Teigen’s 2013 wedding in Lake Como, Italy. Yep, that happened.

Previous to the supermodel’s “I do’s,” Kardashian had just given birth to her first child, North, so she sent her hubby to the destination wedding solo. “I got into a fight with Kanye during your wedding,” Kardashian revealed. “I didn’t go because she was just born and I was so fat and I was like ‘I have nothing to wear.'” Umm, while we’re not quite sure if a wardrobe crisis is a valid excuse for skipping a wedding, we totally feel Kim K’s pain. Our etiquette experts will have to get back to us on that one…

But while Kardashian sat at home, her hubby was giving her the play-by-play via iPhone — with which she quickly became very fed up. “So then he kept texting me being like, ‘Babe, this is the most beautiful wedding. Babe, this is so pretty. I really wish you were here at Lake Como.'” Not something you really want to hear while being stuck in your Calabasas mansion, away from the Italian sunshine and wedding fun. “We got into the biggest fight. I was like, ‘Just stop texting me. Go enjoy the wedding, cause you’re making me feel so bad, and I’m so fat!'”

But according to People, Teigen later returned the favor by getting in a fight with her hubby, John Legend, at Kimye’s wedding just a year later. “John and I got in the biggest fight at Kim and Kanye’s wedding that you’ve ever seen in your whole life,” the model shared. “You know when you think everything’s about you? I was like, ‘We ruined the wedding and everyone noticed.’ And everyone’s like, ‘No, not really. Nobody noticed.'” Well, that’s a plus at least, right?

But even Legend’s swoon-worthy singing voice couldn’t quell Teigen’s anger at her husband, as he serenaded the crowd at the Wests’ reception. “I remember standing with your mom and being so mad at him and everyone was like, ‘He’s so amazing! Isn’t he amazing?’ and I was like, ‘NO!'” the new mom hilariously recalled.

Ceremony squabbles? Consider this one celebrity wedding detail, we definitely don’t want to copycat!

Michelle Obama's Blue Dress Killed It at the DNC — Here's How to Rock the Look at a Wedding

michelle obama convention dress

Michelle Obama killed it at the Democratic National Convention last night, and we don’t just mean with her inspiring speech. Wearing a bold royal blue fit-and-flare dress by Christian Siriano (one of our favorite newlyweds), FLOTUS was glowing — perhaps it’s that feeling when the pressure is off and you’re not trying to get your husband elected.

All eyes were on Michelle Obama as she took the stage at the Democratic National Convention to lend her support for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. And of course, our eyes were on what Mrs. Obama was wearing — as always! The perpetually stylish FLOTUS rocked a royal blue Christian Siriano dress for her big DNC moment (he’s having a good month, isn’t he?), and had us at BRIDES wondering, how do we channel this look for a wedding? The answer is easy. Mrs. Obama’s look makes the perfect mother-of-the-bride dress, as well as an amazing color choice for your bridesmaids. With a figure-flattering silhouette, cap-sleeves, and bright color, it’s a great choice for mothers of the bride or groom looking for comfort, style, and sophistication. Want to get the look of Michelle Obama’s DNC dress? In short, maxi, and even backless, here, are a few styles we think will have any mom channeling FLOTUS. And don’t forget to take another style cue from Obama by pairing this color with silver accessories like her pointy toed pumps and amazing geometric earrings.

This isn’t the first time FLOTUS has embraced a homegrown fashion choice. Obama has been a strong supporter of American designers, frequently choosing pieces from the likes of Jason Wu, Tracy Reese, Michael Kors, and even J.Crew for many of her big first lady moments. Even at her first DNC in 2008, Mrs. Obama supported designer Narciso Rodriguez (the one responsible for Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s iconic wedding dress), wearing a black and red dress. Like Kate Middleton, who has the ability to sell out any piece she wears, when FLOTUS wears a dress, get ready to see copycats and for a quick sellout.

Melania Trump also made headlines for her fashion choice at last week’s Republican National Convention when she chose a wedding dress by Roksanda for her speech. We can all agree, despite their differing politics, these are two very fashionable ladies.

The Best Sex Position for Your Zodiac Sign

couple in bed

Photo: Getty Images

We know: Astrology — much like the Weather.com app — isn’t the most reliable resource in life. But hey, if we can decide which makeup to use based on our sign, why not let the stars enter our boudoir? It’s all good fun!

So we asked sex astrologist Kiki T., author of The Celestial Sexpot’s Handbook, to give us the rundown of how you should position yourself for mind-blowing intercourse based on your birthday. Even if Mercury is in retrograde, you can still find your O.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)
You tend to be a leader in every aspect your life. You’re quick, domineering, and aggressive, which means you like to take charge between the sheets. Sometimes you can be a little ego-driven and focus more on your pleasure than your partner’s. Selfish? Eh, more like goal-oriented.

Best sex position: reverse cowgirl. Any position that allows you to control the thrusting and penetration suits you best. Might we suggest dripping a little hot wax on your partner (or yourself) to up the play.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
As a Taurus, you prefer sensual intercourse and performing go-to (but not basic) moves — not because they’re “easy” but because you’re used to them. You’re very aware of your five senses and love to feel an intimate connection with your bed buddy.

Best sex position: missionary. It’s a tried-and-true move with lots of skin contact and room for lip-to-lip contact and neck nuzzling. Since you’re so in-tune with everything around you, setting the scene is crucial. Dim the lights, spark a neutral-scented candle, and blast some Marvin Gaye.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
Let us guess: In bed you like to switch it up from position to position. Sound about right? You like having choices and multitasking during sex (using vibrators and masturbating during penetration). You aren’t satisfied sticking to one pose the entire time. Foreplay drives you wild and the longer it goes on for, the stronger your orgasm tends to be.

Best sex position: standing up. You’re in the perfect place to jump from the wall to a kitchen counter or the couch. To really get your hormones flowing, ask your partner to send NSFW photos during, well, work. The sexual pregame will make game time that much hotter.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Cancers aren’t particularly great at showing emotions, but we know you’re actually hiding your nurturing personality. You’re a giver and enjoy taking care of someone’s needs for sure. But when things start to heat up, your animalistic and primitive nature comes out.

Best sex position: sitting up cowgirl. Ask your partner to pull you in extra close — you thrive off the intimacy. You also like to read the emotions emitting from their facial expressions. Warning: You might unconsciously dig your nails into your partner’s back from the hot intensity. What can you say, scratching turns you on.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)
Leos are like Samantha Jones in Sex and the City. You’re a natural-born performer and love showing off your skills — basically the sex “rockstars” as Kiki puts it. While you’re not necessarily self-centered, you do like the idea of someone treating you like a queen. Basically, you prefer them to do the heavy lifting as you go along for the ride.

Best sex position:
doggy style. This way your partner has a clear view of you — up their vision and yours by positioning yourself in front of a mirror.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Directness and efficiency rule Virgos. You go with your head and appreciate being told what to do. Sex positions that look like they require years of yoga practice aren’t your forte, but you’re open to trying something if your partner asks.

Best sex position: face-to-face standing. Ask your partner exactly what they want you to do and follow their lead. Bonus points if you do it in the shower.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)
Libras value beauty — not so much in yourself or your partner but in your surroundings. The stars suggest you’re keen to partnerships and tend to go for moves where both people are doing equal amounts of work. However, you’re rarely the one to initiate sex.

Best sex position: scissoring or spider. In either scenario, you and your plus-one are engaged in similar movements. One person isn’t more dominant or passive. While a well-furnished bedroom can heighten your sexuality, a fancy hotel suite with chocolate topped pillows and a breathtaking view drive you nuts.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
You’re secretive and may come off as a loner but deep down you’re passionate with extreme emotions and aggression others won’t suspect. You know what you want in bed and won’t stop until you get it* (*it being your orgasm).

Best sex position: anything. You’re satisfied with whatever position you’re in…the kicker being that you need a little kink mixed in. Blindfolds, handcuffs, S&M—it’s all fair game. It’s so erotic, you’re fine being the dominatrix or the dominated. A little pain makes for great pleasure.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
As the name suggests, you’re “half human, half horse” (not biologically, of course) but you have a free spirit similar to wild animals, says Kiki. Just like Gemini, you’re spontaneous and love varying up your playbook.

Best sex position: standing downward doggy style. Slightly differing from Gemini’s key move, instead of standing up with your partner, your body bends down, head closer toward your feet. Nothing motivates a Sagittarius more than doing it somewhere outside. We’re not talking about getting it on in plain sight — more so an outdoor setting (like the woods) that can be secluded.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)
You require a little more schmoozing than the other signs to feel comfortable with a partner. But once you feel at ease, you’re open to anything and everything.

Best sex position: flat on your stomach. You generally prefer to be the passive one and like when your partner takes control as the “authority” in the bedroom. Leather toys — whip, handcuffs, clothes — excite you.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

We’ll bet you’re probably as quirky as Jess from New Girl. Sex isn’t usually very personal for you — you’re typically in it for the fun! You’re technology-oriented so high-quality sex toys help you get the job done.

Best sex position: on your back. From here you can show off your deluxe Rabbit (or whatever gadget you have stashed in your goodie drawer) to your partner as they watch. Seeing them get worked up over your self-pleasure will get you ready for the real action.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
You’re the sign of compassion and are a “sponge for emotions.” Pisces are pros at reading body language, so nothing gets past you. Out of the rest of the signs, you’re probably the most romantic.

Best sex position: spooning. Intimate, personal, body contact — everything a Pisces could hope for. Well, that and a little role play. Before stepping into the utensil position, you love acting out your fantasies to get in the mood.

Why You Should Always Make Time to Play (Yes, Play!)

Make Time for Play

Photo: Getty Images

When we were kids, playing was how we developed vital skills, such as social interaction, teamwork and problem-solving. When we grew up, we carried those skills into adulthood, and swapped out play for more serious endeavors. Yet the term “play” doesn’t necessarily equate to childishness. It’s not solely running around in circles, building forts or chatting with an imaginary friend. As an adult, you also engage in play when you’re playing board games, sports, or many other types of activities.

Studies have shown that adults and kids alike should be taking time to play. There’s no shame to playing, and the mental and physical health benefits you’ll reap are well worth it.

First, though, what is play?
The defining factor in a play activity is free will. When you’re at play, you should feel a sort of whimsy because you don’t feel a sense of obligation. Ever hear your jam come on in spin class and dance so much on that bike that you forgot where you were for a second? That’s play. Chasing your puppy around the dog park without caring if anybody is looking at you? That’s play, too.

Play requires mind that’s alert and/or imaginative but also non-stressed. All of you competition junkies out there, take note: any time the mind is stressed, you’re no longer actively at play. This is why sports can count as play if they’re fun and stress-free, but the moment you take it too seriously you’re no longer engaging in play. “If you’re doing it right, you’re not getting overly serious about it,” says Dr. Edward F. Group. “Nor should you. It’s not the mortgage, it’s not a work deadline, it’s not a long list of chores that should’ve been done last week. Not only is playtime not any of those things, it’s a vacation from all those things.”

Why is play important?
Play is stress-free, and therefore better for our mental and physical health than activities that involve stress. The benefits don’t end there. As with children, play helps adults develop social skills and teamwork.

Companies in Silicon Valley were the pioneers of workplace play, embracing fun team outings like go-kart or mini-golf, and now more companies are catching on because of the camaraderie play can build within an office. “We’ve found that when coworkers can enjoy that type of fellowship and get to know each other a bit as people, it makes the workplace much more fluid,” Dr. Group says.

Play can also be good for the mind. There is evidence that suggests that playing games, as well as the commitment to lifelong curiosity, can keep the mind active and even lower your risk for Alzheimer’s. One of the few real experts on play, and the founder of the National Institute For Play, is Dr. Stuart Brown. In his book, Play: How It Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul, he tells us that “movement play lights up the brain and fosters learning, innovation, flexibility, adaptation, and resilience.”

The opposite of a play lifestyle is important to discuss as well. When you don’t incorporate play into your life, you’re susceptible to depression and possibly even stunted brain development.

How can I incorporate play into my lifestyle?
Here’s the easy part. As humans, we were born to play. You can make play a lifestyle. “In a broad sense, play is what lifts people out of the mundane,” Dr. Brown writes in his book. “I sometimes compare play to oxygen. It’s all around us, yet mostly goes unnoticed or unappreciated until it is missing.”

You can be at play when you’re immersed in a great book, playing a fun board game, or horsing around with your dog or children. It seems, though, that of all types of play, the most important is that which involves movement. Take a class that gets you lost in movement and you’re bound for a healthy lifestyle. “Movement is primal and accompanies all the elements of play we are examining, even word or image movement in imaginative play,” Dr. Brown writes. “If you don’t understand and appreciate human movement, you won’t really understand yourself at play.”

Nutritionist and personal trainer Sophie Gray suggests that “any movement is movement, so go rock climbing, roller blading or sign up for a dance class. You’ll work up a sweat and get a workout in while truly enjoying yourself.”

“By doing an activity that you classify as playing, you’re taking a mental vacation because you’re often so absorbed in it, you forget your adult worries,” she adds.

Psychotherapist and author Jonathan Alpert says that “whether it is burning calories, getting the blood flowing, or the simple act of not having a sedentary lifestyle, movement is vital. If it is done in a fun way, such as a game with your kids or kickball with colleagues or buddies, it can serve as a good distraction from the stress of work. Further, if it involves a teammate or teammates, it can help forge social connections and build camaraderie. Finally, play is often associated with an earlier time in people’s lives; a time when all was right with the world. A blissful youth. That can be a nice diversion from the stress of adulthood.”

It’s unanimous, folks. The experts tell us the best thing we can do to relieve stress is to get out there and play! Get involved in a class that you love, and the changes to your mental and physical health will be immense.

Best Red Lip Stains for Weddings

Just pair a ruby red pucker with your gorgeous ivory wedding dress and pearly whites and you’re at once an Old Hollywood movie star, a smoldering modern day diva, and totally first kissable.

The 3 Times Brides Should Definitely Listen to Mom During Wedding Planning

As we grow older, we learn the truth: Mother really does know best. But just because moms are usually right doesn’t mean that daughters always take their advice. Especially when it comes to weddings.

The excitement, stress, and drama of planning a wedding can sometimes skew a bride’s perception of things, and that’s when it is important to listen and hear the advice your mother is giving you. While she’s emotionally invested in your happiness, she may have a clearer head about individual situations.

Remember, your mom is on your team and wants you to be happy, even if she doesn’t always agree with your decisions. You may not do what she tells you to do, but make sure you don’t tune out her advice about the following three things:

Choosing a Wedding Dress
You are a reflection of your parents. Not just the physical characteristics you share, but the choices and decisions you make as well. Your mother wants you to look your best on your wedding day, no matter what current trends may dictate. She may realize a critical mistake you’re making that you will regret in later life, such as showing entirely too much skin for a church ceremony, or choosing a wedding gown that isn’t super flattering for your body type. Even with the best of intentions, your friends may not want to tell you that you’re better suited in a different style. Your mom won’t lie to you, even if it hurts your feelings, because she knows you’ll be happier in the end.

Wedding Guest Drama
Something that would usually be a simple disagreement with a close friend or sibling can explode, in the blink of an eye, under the stressful weight of wedding planning. Your mom realizes the angst is situational, and she doesn’t want you to do something dramatic that might hurt your relationships long term, so it’s a good idea to follow her suggestion if she tells you to take it down a notch. More than one bridesmaid would have been fired, or sister demoted from the position of maid of honor, if mom hadn’t intervened.

Dealing With In-Laws
Chances are, if you don’t like your future mother-in-law, your mom probably isn’t her biggest fan either. With that said, your mother has (most likely) been married and dealt with becoming a new family before. And she’s well aware of the long-term repercussions of stupid decisions made for emotional reasons. You may not like your fiancé’s mother much before the wedding, but she has the power to make your relationship hell in the future, should she choose to do so. Use your mom as a sounding board, and take her advice about dealing with it, rather than constantly complaining to your fiancé. It can cause a rocky start to the marriage if you can’t learn to get along with his family. And it will be worse if you choose to have children together.

Should You Postpone Your Honeymoon?

postpone honeymoon

Photo: Getty Images

Not every couple flies off first thing after their wedding to enjoy their honeymoon. Some newlyweds postpone their getaways by weeks or even months, taking time to relax without the pressure of long flights and lost luggage, to bolster their bank accounts, feed into their FOMO from work, or save money on the getaway itself.

Wedding planning sucks a lot of energy and money out of brides and grooms,” says Sandy Malone, owner of Sandy Malone Weddings & Events, which specializes in destination weddings. Waiting six months, she says, “allows couples to save money and get back their energy so the trip can be as fantastic as they’ve dreamed.”

But that doesn’t mean you should automatically jump on the postponed honeymoon bandwagon. Our experts would advise you weigh the pros and cons long before you book your post-wedding day tickets.

Pro: You’ll have time to save after the wedding. With enough time, you can sock away serious moolah to spend on this romantic getaway, Malone points out. You might choose to spend that extra money on a more elaborate trip, or spring for a luxury resort.

Con: You could feel cheated. “Unless you take at least a few days someplace alone together, you may feel somewhat cheated,” warns Malone. “You need a way to come down from the wedding high,” and that might mean working in a mini-moon if you opt out of a full-blown honeymoon right after the wedding.

Pro: You may have more vacation days to work with. Chances are, you had to take a few days off before you wedding — days that might replenish after the new year. “Added time allows for work vacation days to recharge, giving the couple more time to spend at their destination,” says John Wheeler, owner of Kaleidoscope Events.

Con: You risk postponing your honeymoon again (and again). Life often gets in the way of our best plans, including plans for a postponed honeymoon. So, “unless you block the dates and start your honeymoon planning, it could get postponed again or indefinitely, due to everything from job changes to pregnancy,” Malone says.

See More: Should You Take a Mini-Moon?

Pro: Each day will be fun. Malone warns that it takes time to recover from the excitement and stress of the wedding. If you postpone this particular getaway, “you’ll enjoy every day of your honeymoon, instead of spending the first two days in recovery from your wedding,” she says.

Con: Your cash wedding gifts might get spent before you go. You planned to use those precious dollars for a spa day at the beach. But, if you’re not careful, cash gifts received at the wedding may get used to pay household bills instead of being set aside for special treats on the honeymoon.

Pro: Planning a honeymoon without a wedding to boot is less stressful. When you are planning your wedding alongside your honeymoon, some of the fun of dreaming up your dream getaway gets lost. “Planning will be much more enjoyable when it’s your only priority, instead of a necessary evil added to your wedding to-do list,” says Malone.

Con: It might not feel as special. According to Wheeler, “it’s a magical feeling to go from the wedding day immediately into the honeymoon, especially if you have not first lived together and it’s all a new experience.” Some of that excitement may not stick around if you wait too long, he warns.

Malone offers up this last piece of advice before you decide whether to postpone your honeymoon: “Ask yourself if there’s a good reason to have your honeymoon immediately after the wedding,” she says. “If one spouse is [for example] switching jobs and won’t have accumulated enough vacation time for a year, delaying could mean no honeymoon for a very long time. Otherwise, stash the wedding cash, make your reservations for the later date, and start planning the most memorable trip of your life.”

Are Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Already Married?

liam and miley

Photo: Getty Images

The Internet has been absolutely a-buzz with excitement since Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth apparently decided to reignite their romance and (hopefully) walk down the aisle, but a recent post on Cyrus’ Instagram hints that the couple may already be married.

The picture in question (you can see it below), was posted on Sunday and shows Cyrus sunbathing poolside with a friend. In the center of the photo is a wedding band-looking ring that is covered in diamonds (and gorgeous, BTW), and her rumored engagement ring is noticeably absent.

This news comes after weeks of ring-related news coming from Cyrus and Hemsworth, who allegedly rekindled their whirlwind romance in April after originally calling off their engagement in 2013. Paparazzi have been snapping pictures of the couple all over the world, and Cyrus has been either rocking her original engagement ring or going out without it at all, so there is really no way to tell what adding this brand new ring to the mix means about the state of their engagement.

Sources have said in the past that Cyrus and Hemsworth have been planning saying “I do” in August, and that they were having two wedding ceremonies (one on a beach in L.A. and one in Australia). Billy Ray Cyrus made headlines when he hinted to the Today Show that he may be potentially officiating the weddings, and sources say that no one knows the exact date of the wedding except for the famous couple and their parents.

Regardless of when it will happen, who will be there, and what on Earth the bride will be wearing, it is pretty clear that the future Mr. and Mrs. Hemsworth would throw the most unique wedding of all time, and we can’t wait to see the pictures!
