Terra Gallery (Above)
One of the largest spaces, the Terra Gallery in SOMA features two levels that total 24,000 square feet of space. There’s a 5,000-square-foot upper level with white gallery walls, 20-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and Brazilian cherry hardwood floors, plus a lower level with inlaid glass tile serpentine bars, hardwood floors, a built-in stage and a 3,000-square-foot outdoor area that can seat up to 300 people — or provide the perfect space for a late-night food truck party. Dogpatch WineWorks
Located in the up-and-coming Dogpatch neighborhood, Dogpatch Wine Works offers a more industrial space — and a huge one at that. The 15,000-square-foot venue has 20-foot ceilings, white brick walls, concrete floors, large windows, vintage-looking leather banquettes, and old wood vines for decorative accents. The working winery offers flexible space (use all or part of the tasting room) and lets parties decide between using their own caterers or not. because it’s a winery, they can assist with wine pairings for your meal — major bonus!

Tank18, Inc.
Another urban winery in San Francisco, Tank18, Inc., is set in SOMA and offers 6,000 square feet of space for a capacity of more than 200 guests. In addition to the large bar, there’s a chalkboard wall, rafted ceilings, walls lined with wine bottles, and plenty of space for a large dance floor.

Foreign Cinema
Set in the most hipster of hip neighborhoods, the Mission, Foreign Cinema is a restaurant with a focus on local, sustainable, seasonally-changing California cuisine. Though the entrance nods to an Art Deco, Old Hollywood feel, the interior has the sort of blond wood tables and high ceilings you’d expect in a farm-to-table restaurant. There are several areas for events; for a wedding the best option would be to buy out the whole space which includes the main dining room, mezzanine, and the patio, where you can project movies on the wall. Scribe Winery
For something outside the city, check out Sonoma’s Scribe Winery, a hipster haven set on top of a small hill overlooking the property’s vines. There’s a small covered barn area, but this is mostly an outdoor space, with a few picnic tables and twinkle lights strung beneath the trees. For a wedding that feels more like an old-fashioned picnic, plan for some lawn games or spread picnic blankets for casual, relaxed seating. The winery site also contains a sprawling — and reportedly haunted — hacienda, which is in the process of being renovated, and will eventually be open for events. In the meantime, it makes for a striking photo backdrop.
