Mr. and Mrs. Smith are finally getting some alone time — for a good reason! Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt enjoyed a romantic getaway for their second wedding anniversary last week — and we are definitely stealing some pointers from them.
The actor and actress went to the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel for a night to celebrate the evening, according to US Weekly. Yes — all six kids were left with the babysitter, and Pitt, 52, and Jolie, 41, checked into the hotel for the night. (A perfect gift for a two-year wedding anniversary BTW, because the hotel totally has cotton sheets.) In the morning, they checked out and returned to their six adorable children in their not-so-humble California abode. “It was just the two of them. They had dinner and spent the night, and that was it,” a source shared with the magazine.
Planning a quick, romantic escape isn’t uncommon for the two of them. A source shared that the lovebirds enjoy booking getaways from time to time, to keep that spark. “They want to keep the love alive.” Mr. and Mrs. Smith vibes channeled at all times.
In an interview with The New York Times about their 2014 nuptials, Jolie opened up about their low-key wedding ceremony — sharing that they had to legally get married in California before their vow exchange in France.

“It was just a nice thing,” she shared, alluding to the laid-back, casual nature of the whole event. In her eyes, the real moment they were committed to each other, however, didn’t have anything to do with marriage. “For me, the big moment was when [we] signed the [joint adoption] papers for Maddox and Zahara. That was a decision to parent together, to commit to being a part of each other’s lives for the rest of my life. So [marriage] wasn’t close in comparison. In a way, it was very casual.”
As far as their wedding ceremony, they officially celebrated in August 2014 in France at the couple’s chateau, with all of their children present (that’s one adorable bridal party if we do say so ourselves). It was indeed a family affair — with the children helping write the marital vows, per Vanity Fair. The bride wore a simple white silk-satin Luigi Massi for Versace wedding dress, and of course who can forget the drawings created by her six children sewn onto the train and veil? “Luigi is like family to me and I couldn’t imagine anyone else making this dress,” the actress told People. “He knows and cares for the children and it was great fun putting it together.” Not your average custom gown.

While the duo has only been married for two years officially, their journey together started a long time ago — and they’ve been husband and wife on-screen twice together before they officially tied the knot (2005’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith and 2014’s By the Sea). Now, the Jolie-Pitt powerhouse family has two years of official marriage under their belts, and they appear to be happier than ever. Six kids, an intimate wedding, a chateau in France and being really ridiculously good-looking — the struggle is totally real.
