Wedding Flower Trend We Love: Pampas Grass

Currently on our wedding trend radar? Pampas grass. The tall, wheat-colored tufted grasses can often been seen growing along riverbanks and cliff sides; the stalks flow beautifully in the wind and add instant texture to wedding arrangements like bouquets and ceremony backdrops. Pampas grass is perfect for more casual, boho-style weddings (or, if you’re not really into flowers at all). Check out these six stunning takes on the pampas grass trend.

Bridal Bouquet (above): This pretty bouquet by Studio Mondine includes clematis, spotted begonia, and feathery strands of locally foraged pampas grass.

Ceremony Aisle: Wow your wedding guests with a spectacular wedding ceremony aisle lined with loads of fluffy pampas grass stalks.

Boho Ceremony Backdrop: Add tall stalks of feathery pampas grass to give your ceremony backdrop movement and a dash of bohemian flair.

Pedestal Centerpieces: Add some major height to your dinner tables by perching lush greenery-and-pampas-grass centerpieces on tall, translucent pedestals.

Bud Vase Centerpieces: Wispy pampas grasses also look great on their own when displayed in modern-looking vases and vessels.

Exactly What to Do If You Drink Too Much at Your Own Wedding

tips-to-sober-up-on-wedding-day.jpg

Can’t stop, won’t stop! Err, but sometimes you have to, especially when it comes to boozing on your big day. Because too much of a good thing can, in some cases, be a very, very bad thing, trust us. So as much as you know not to overdo it on alcohol the day-of, we understand that accidents happen and sometimes a girl (or groom) just has to sober up. If you find yourself headed for drunksville too soon, try these tips to help you get back on your feet and feeling better stat. (Oh, and we’ve also included a few precautionary measures to follow so you aren’t falling over in the first place.)

Take a cold shower
Okay, this might be a little hard to do once your glammed and gussied up, but for tipsy grooms this is a great way to go. If your man gets too shwasted before the ceremony starts, have his boys tell him to take a cold shower, suggests wedding planner Cate Tenopir of Tenopir Events. At the very least, it’ll wake him up, keep him away from the booze for a bit and refresh him so he doesn’t look worse for wear during the ceremony starts.

Slow your roll
And if you’re well on your way to drunk early on, please stop drinking altogether. Once you begin to feel even slightly tipsy, you want to cut out the alcohol stat, says Greg Jenkins, founder of Bravo Productions. “Depending on your height, weight, how much alcohol has been consumed, etc., that will determine how inebriated one will be.” Thus, it’s important to know beforehand how much alcohol one can consume without getting too buzzed, and then avoid drinking (other than a glass of champagne) pre-ceremony and moderate one’s drinking during the reception. “Think about the big day as performing in a one-act stage play. There’s only one chance to make a long-term impression. There are no retakes! To this end, give your best performance on your wedding day.”

Pound water (or coconut water!)
We know it sounds like a no brainer, but even if you don’t feel good and can’t keep it down, keep pounding the water, advises Shafonne Myers, founder of Pretty Pear Bride. “It will for sure help. Pedialyte or Powerade work wonders too, as they both have essential vitamins that will help to hydrate you.” And don’t forget coconut water! Living in the Caribbean, destination wedding planner Michelle Fage of Paradise Planning has easy access to getting this for brides/bridesmaids and has saved the day more than a few times by providing the hydrating drink during hair and makeup time with the bridal party! And she’s definitely forced grooms to drink it too. As a rule of thumb, for every alcoholic beverage you consume, you should also consume a glass of water too.

Eat a bunch of carbs
Literally, stuff your face with them. Something hearty to absorb the alcohol, such as breads, pasta, potatoes, etc. are always good, says Jenkins. And sorry, no salads! “While the idea may not be ideal for someone who is watching their weight, it beats the alternative of appearing intoxicated on one’s wedding day.”

Sleep it off
San Francisco-based destination wedding planner Ashley Smith, founder of BuzzWorthy Events, says to take a power nap. Granted you have time, that is. Obviously this one only works pre-ceremony, and is another great one for grooms who tend to have less busy schedules the day-of and thus more time on their hands to take a quick snooze.

Just say “no” to shots
Peer pressure is a bitch! But let the bartender and your BFF know that shots are off the table, as they only lead to shenanigans (and not the kind you want on your big day). For grooms, wedding planner Marilisa Schachinger of Martel Event recommends sticking to beer before the ceremony and saving liquor for later. Or heck, just do beer throughout.

Avoid darker alcohols
Wedding planner Kelli Corn of Kelli Corn Weddings & Events best advice? “Remember to avoid darker alcohols like red wine or whiskey that contain substance produced during fermentation and instead try white wine or vodka. This can make the buzz not as buzzy.”

Real Brides Share Their Biggest Honeymoon Fails

Real Brides Share Their Biggest Honeymoon Fails

Unlike the wedding, sometimes honeymoons don’t exactly go off without a hitch. Someone either gets eaten up by bugs, or worse, gets a bad stomach bug. The all-inclusive hotel you book isn’t all it’s cracked up to be or the weather puts a major damper on all your planned activities. Hey, when it rains, it pours, right? That’s not to say you can’t make lemonade out of lemons though and still enjoy yourselves. We asked real brides to share their most epic honeymoon fails, which we can all laugh about after the fact.

Hurricane Season
“We booked our tropical honeymoon smack dab in the middle of hurricane season, not thinking that we’d actually get caught up in the middle of one. Well, we did! The island had to be evacuated and we had to cut our honeymoon short several days early. So yeah, that was fun. Fortunately, everyone was safe and we made up for it with a cruise over the holidays.” — Kendall

Food Poisoning
“We got food poisoning on the fifth day of our honeymoon and both woke up in the middle of the night vomiting our guts out. And we only had one bathroom to get sick in! Luckily it was the next to last day of our trip and only lasted 24 hours so we got to enjoy the final day in paradise.” — Michelle </em

Period Problems
“I was planning on doing the whole skip the placebo pills and go straight to a new pack of birth control for our honeymoon, but I totally forgot and ended up being on my period most of the time. Then when it finally ended I came down with a bad cold for the rest of the trip. Talk about an epic fail. My poor husband!” — Mallory </em

Rough Waters
“I got tossed around in the Hawaiian surf and wound up with a dislocated shoulder and blood pouring from scratches on the left side of my body. Needless to say, we spent the last day of our honeymoon in the emergency room. Fun times!” — Alex </em

Hotel From Hell
“Literally everything that could go wrong with our hotel did! The level above us was undergoing construction, which was super loud and woke us up early practically every morning. Then our showerhead kept not working while our toilet was continually running even after they “fixed it” too. Oh, and to top it off, we got stuck next to a couple that would either fight or have sex loudly every night. Um, gross! Then of course the last few days of our trip it rained non-stop and almost flooded the room due to water coming in under the doors. Fortunately, we did have several good days in between all the madness and got some money back thanks to our hotel horror.” — Cassie </em

What’s In A Name?
“I guess it could have been a lot worse, but our travel agent accidently booked all of our hotels and activities under my maiden name so the entire time people kept calling us Mr. and Mrs. [my last name]. Needless to say, my husband was none too pleased since I had just taken his last name and it’s special to hear that new name said out loud on the honeymoon. We were able to laugh it off though.” — Leesa </em

The Missing Ring
“My husband lost his ring on the first day of our honeymoon! We both assumed it was somewhere in the middle of the ocean and it kind of put a damper on those first few days. On the last day I noticed something shiny caught in the shower drain after bending down to get my hair tie that I had dropped. Turns out, it was his wedding ring and we were able to retrieve it. So at least my story has a happy ending!” — Shadhi </em

This Black-Tie Wedding Took Color to a Whole New Level

Bright and Colorful Black Tie Wedding in Santa Monica, Reception Decorations

When Daniela Malca, an interior designer in California, walked into a Moroccan furniture store in June of 2012, she had no idea she was about to meet her future in-laws. “The owners invited me to their home for Shabbat dinner, which is where I met their son.” It turns out, their son would be her future husband, Jeremy Benloulou! Two years later, the pair got engaged in Palm Springs and started to plan a black-tie wedding for a crowd — 331 guests, to be exact. “Our biggest challenge was finding a venue that could accommodate our head count, as well as a kosher wedding,” Daniela says. Thankfully, they found the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica. On September 6, 2015, they gathered their family and friends from around the world for a glamorous party full of rich, vivid colors. With Charley King of Bluebell Events at the helm and Paige Jones behind the camera, the result was a stunning, colorful wedding you won’t be able to take your eyes off of.

Daniela used her design skills when selecting the couple’s invitation suite. She decided to mix pink and coral floral prints with graphic black and white stripes and shimmering gold accents for a formal yet fun look. She and her bridesmaids even dressed the part, getting glam while wearing matching pink, white, and gold tunics, a nod to the groom’s Moroccan heritage.

The bride stunned in a figure-hugging Vera Wang wedding dress with a layered skirt. “I tried on almost 70 dresses,” Daniela says. “I couldn’t decide, so my mom made the final choice! It was the opposite of what I’d planned for, but I wanted something a little less ornate that wouldn’t compete with our bold color scheme.” She borrowed her Jennifer Behr headpiece from her maid of honor, and topped the strapless neckline with a sheer jacket for the ceremony.

Every bride needs fabulous accessories! For Daniela, that meant shimmery Jimmy Choo sandals and a multicolored bouquet of dahlias, garden roses, ranunculus, and anemones. “I wanted the opposite of a traditional blush and ivory wedding,” she says.

The groom donned a classic tuxedo from Hugo Boss. He’d planned to wear cufflinks Daniela got for him, but he forgot them at home. He ended up donning a pair they’d rented as back-up from The Black Tux.

Jeremy’s boutonniere combined a white anemone with a vibrant ranunculus.

The bridesmaids sparkled in sequin gowns with draped cowl backs and carried bouquets that were just as bright as Daniela’s, with lush dahlias and garden roses in shades of coral, pink, and blush. “I was set on gold sequins,” says the bride. “I knew it would be fun, but wouldn’t compete with the bright flowers. I also wanted them to be able to save money by renting their dresses from Rent the Runway!” The groomsmen’s tuxedos were the perfect classic complement.

The escort card table was draped in a black sequin linens, then topped with a full arrangement of dahlias and garden roses. The floral accents on each escort card matched the invitation suite.

The Butter End created a stunning black, white, and gold cake with the bride’s favorite wallpaper printed on wafer paper and wrapped around the tiers. “To keep everything Kosher, they made our wedding cake, but the cake we served was a lemon and raspberry sheet cake baked by our caterer,” Daniela explains.

Around 2 a.m., the ballroom finally closed, but the celebration wasn’t over. “Our family and friends kept the party going in the hallway!” says Daniela.

Her advice? Aside from keeping organized with spreadsheets and remembering to eat, she suggests having a hair back-up plan. “If you’re wearing your hair down, know what you want to do when you get sweaty dancing. I had to have my mom’s friend, who happens to be a hairdresser, fix and pin my hair for me so I could get back on the dance floor.”

Adam Levin and Behati Prinsloo Welcome First Child — and Her Name is GORGEOUS

Adam Levin and Behati Prinsloo Reveal Baby Name

Photo: Getty Images

It looks we won’t be seeing any more bikini baby bump selfies from Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo. Why, you may ask? Because Prinsloo and her hubby, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, just welcomed their little one into the world! That’s right — Levine and Prinsloo have had their baby and we couldn’t more excited for the new parents — or more taken by her sweet name.

Reports have surfaced today that the “Sugar” singer and the Victoria’s Secret Angel have welcomed their itsy bitsy angel — a daughter! — with Levin’s rep confirming the news to People. So what did the proud parents dub their little one?

Dusty Rose Levine. So pretty, right?!

While we’re sure that the little girl is beyond words beautiful (obviously, with those genes!), we’re still anxiously awaiting her first baby pic. But until then, we can always reflect on Prinsloo’s too-perfect pregnancy photos that she posted all over the ‘Gram the past few months.

Of course Levin first confirmed his wife’s pregnancy with a baby bump pic on his Instagram page. “My two favorite Laker fans,” The Voice coach captioned the snapshot of Prinsloo lounging in the pool — itty bitty red bikini and all. And just in case you couldn’t figure out who that second Laker fan was, Levin added the baby, milk bottle, and basketball emojis for good measure.

Since then, the supermodel certainly hasn’t been shy about sharing snaps of that pregnancy glow. Just six days ago in fact, Prinsloo posted a silhouetted photo of herself with her baby belly in full view. Let’s just hope that the new mom is just as forthcoming with those baby photos as she was with those of the baby bump!

Is it too early to start thinking about giving Dusty Rose some brothers and sisters? “I want to have 100 kids,” Levine previously told Ryan Seacrest in an interview. “I want to have more kids than would be socially responsible.” 99 more to go, you two!

How to Choose Songs for Your Wedding Ceremony

What’s a wedding without music? Whether you go traditional or choose pop songs that speak to your story, the right music will really help your wedding day flow. And that goes for your wedding ceremony, too! So how do you pick the perfect songs to get everyone down the aisle (and back!)? Here are a few tips from our experts.

Before you start building playlists, check in with your ceremony venue. Some, particularly more strictly religious venues, have limits on what types of music you can choose. That might mean you can only choose from a set of traditional options, or you can get creative as long as it’s instrumental and doesn’t have any words at all. Once you’ve got a grasp on what’s okay, it’s time to proceed.

Think about the feeling you’re trying to create. Of course, you want the main focus to be “love”! But do you want something calm and subdued, upbeat, or a fun surprise your guests might barely pick up on, like an instrumental version of that rap song the two of you can’t help but dance to? Don’t be afraid to pick an unexpected genre, especially if there’s an acoustic or instrumental version that will nod to your favorite tune without busting out the hard rock on your way down the aisle.

Of course, there are three big moments to pick music for: Both of your processionals (one song each) and the recessional. Your groom’s processional could also be the song the wedding party walks down the aisle to, or you could give him a tune all his own, like you’ll have. You can choose the songs together, or decide to surprise one another as the first notes are played. Choose songs you love now that you’ll also love playing on future anniversaries (or just as you reminisce!). For the recessional, pick something upbeat and happy, as this symbolizes the start of the party! You may also need to choose processional songs for your families or the wedding party. Keep these in a similar tone and style as the songs you’ve chosen for yourself so everything flows together nicely.

Ina Garten Getting Real About Her Love for Husband Jeffrey is the Best Thing You'll Read All Day

ina-garten-jeffrey-kiss-main.jpg

It turns out we can learn more from Ina Garten than rich, home-cooked recipes — she’s actually quite the relationship expert. Not in the traditional sense of course, but having been married to her longtime love for almost 50 years, it’s clear to see this chef knows a thing or two about love and marriage. And unlike some of the other Food Network hosts, Garten is constantly doting on her hubby Jeffrey and bringing him onto set during Barefoot Contessa, and whipping up his favorite comfort foods after he’s had a long day at work. The way to a man’s heart really is through his stomach!

ina-garten-jeffrey.gif

GIF: Giphy

Jokes aside, Garten’s tenth cookbook, Cooking for Jeffrey, was dedicated entirely to her husband (and is set to be released in October, if you’re interested). But what’s even cuter than the fact that she wrote a whole cookbook for him is the melt-worthy responses she gave in Vanity Fair‘s Proust Questionnaire. According to People, “Of the 25 questions, seven mention him directly and it’s safe to assume at least four more reference their life together.”

D’awwww!

See More: If Your Guy Has These 21 Habits, Marry Him Right Now

Of these responses she said that her perfect happiness involves, “Sundays in Paris with Jeffrey. We go to the Sunday market, make a nice lunch, drink a big bottle of Burgundy, and then take a long delicious nap. Heaven.” And if she had to choose a way to die? “I don’t care as long as Jeffrey and I go together and we end up in a big suite with a view of the ocean.”

By far though, the sweetest thing Garten revealed was what her biggest regret in life was. No, it wasn’t anything food or fame related. It was: “Not marrying Jeffrey sooner.” Aaaaand our hearts just exploded.

Moral to the story? In a Brangelina world, be an Ina Garten.

Why This Bride's Epic Wedding Dress is Taking the Internet By Storm

bride designs wedding dress from scratch

Photo: Instagram via Doooonie

We see wedding dresses on the daily, but when it comes down to it — what actually goes into designing a wedding dress (and a very extravagant one at that)? Bride (and fashion influencer) Dana Wolley Zagat decided to document the entire process of custom designing her wedding dress on Instagram, showing us just how much work went into it all.

And on July 29, 2016, after a year of intense work by dress designer Esposa, the Lebanese bride finally had a finished wedding dress to wear on her big day. But it wasn’t just any run-of-the-mill wedding gown. Here’s why the Internet is totally obsessing over her bridal look.

This Wasn’t Her Original Plan
Before she decided to create a custom gown, she went dress shopping like the rest of us. “I started by checking out simple designer gowns at @esposagroup they are all stunning, but I felt I needed something made just for me and faaar from simple! It’s go big or go home for me!” Worley Zagat said on Instagram. She began to document the wedding dress journey shortly thereafter, noting that she was creating a custom dress with Esposa.

doooonie-dress-custom.jpg

Photo: Instagram via Doooonie

The Dress Has Its Own Hashtag
#DoonieXExposa to be exact — and it has over 100 posts sharing all the deets. The bride-to-be is a social influencer with over 233,000 followers, so it’s only natural that she’d want to share with her fans. From the first stages of trying on designer gowns and deciding that she wanted something “more” for her dress, so it was all on social media for the world to see. Most people’s weddings don’t have that many photos tagged on Instagram — let alone just photos of the bride’s dress.

The Wedding Dress Wasn’t White
Instead, it was a beautiful champagne that was adorned with Mouawad jewels and ornate beading. There is not ONE inch of this dress that doesn’t sparkle.

It Took Forever to Make
While most dresses take about six months to make, this custom-designed gown took a year and had a staff of several people creating it. “The beading took two months of working days and nights!” the entrepreneur shared on Instagram.

Her Shoes Were Just As Extravagant
So what does a bride wear on her feet when she is wearing a fully bedazzled wedding gown? Nicholas Kirkwood platforms completed her look (of course with genuine hand-picked pearls) — only the best oyster gems for this gal. Still, the bride called these pumps “the most comfortable bridal shoe ever,” which leads us to believe that she’s either a) lying, or b) is used to wearing 7-inch stilettos and that this was a nice break from reality.

bridesmaid dress

Photo: Instagram via Doooonie

Her Bridesmaids Basically Wore Wedding Dresses
The bride shared a snap of her sister in her bridesmaid attire. “My gorgeous sister Nadine wore @ramikadi to my wedding, I loved her dress! Can you believe she’s my sister?? We look nothing alike,” she joked. TBH they do resemble each other because Nadine was wearing an ornately beaded, pale blue gown which dare we say looked a bit like a wedding dress?

The Rest of Her Wedding Was Just As Fancy
You know, just a casual sword used to cut your wedding cake which had a LIT chandelier inside of it, and thousands of flowers hanging from the ceiling — a few small touches, nbd. The edges of the venue consisted of ornately stacked flower walls, once again giving Kim and Kanye a run for their money.

The bride shared on her Instagram, “For those who asked, the floral decorations at my wedding were done by @eventna.international I wanted something different, not a typical white/pastel floral wedding.. I told them exactly what I wanted and they did an amazing job.” Quite the over-the-top scene, but it definitely fit her aesthetic.

7 Things That Secretly Annoy Bridesmaids at Bachelorette Parties

things-that-secretly-annoy-bridesmaids-at-bachelorette-parties.jpg

Photo: Getty Images

The best kind of bachelorette party is one where both the bride and the guests are having the time of their lives. But planning an epic celebration takes some work. So how do you ensure your big bash is one for the books — where everyone is on cloud nine? While you can’t always please everyone, including your bridesmaids, keep in mind these seven things that secretly annoying bridesmaids at bachelorette parties.

1. Strict dress codes
Whether it’s forcing all the girls in the group to go out in black dresses while the bride wears white — or creating embarrassing tank tops the entire crew has to wear throughout the weekend, nobody really loves a dress code — even at bachelorette parties. Of course, more often than not everyone will happily oblige with a big smile on their faces — yet they’re secretly thinking of how it ruins all the fun.

2. Expensive everything
Bridesmaids get that they’ll have to shell out some serious dough for the bachelorette party. However, with that said, all the activities shouldn’t be over-the-top expensive. One nice dinner is good at a destination bachelorette, but keep the other meals low key for gals on a budget. It’s frustrating when the maid of honor isn’t considerate of everyone else’s financial situation!

3. Paying the bride’s way
If it’s one night out, totally fine. However, now that many bachelorette parties are an entire weekend away, it’s not practical to ask everyone attending to split the cost of all of the bride’s expenses. See how everyone feels about covering her booze for the weekend or paying for a nice dinner out so she doesn’t have to, but don’t push the spending limits too excessively. That’s much more reasonable than splitting her flight costs or accommodations, which could irk bridesmaids on a budget (or any attendees, really).

4. Too much penis
Yes, penis straws can be fun (perhaps not in public) and a silly game of pin-the-Mr.-on-the-man never hurt anybody, but some bachelorette parties can go a bit overboard with the whole penis theme. This can be embarrassing and irritating not only the bride, but also to the rest of the girls.

5. Dare cards
Some ladies don’t mind asking to pluck a random stranger’s chest hair at the bar, whereas other shy gals may be secretly super irked at having to partake in a drunken game of bachelorette dare — especially if they don’t drink or aren’t big drinkers to begin with. Make sure to take the group as a whole into account when planning risqué games in general.

6. An excessive amount of games
A few games are all in good fun and can break the ice with a big group, but keep the number of games to a minimum (shoot for one or two, max). Otherwise, you’ll start to lose the attention spans of the ladies and the bride may get uncomfortable being in the spotlight for that long.

7. Unwanted social media shots
This includes (but is not limited to) embarrassing Snapchats, Instagram photos, tweets, and Facebook posts! Whether it’s an unflattering photo of said bridesmaid — or just a drunken moment she’d rather not have shared with the entire world, many bridesmaids can get secretly annoyed by all the social posts that make it live that they’d rather have hidden for the duration (of life…).
