There’s no place like the red carpet to look for some serious wedding beauty inspiration. From their gorgeous flowing hair, to statement-making eye makeup, the ladies at the Emmys 2016 served up envy-inducing beauty looks that are sure to be a big hit for brides-to-be.

Emmy Rossum: Lest you forget the importance of the famed bridal glow, Emmy’s radiant skin and absolutely glowing cheeks leave no room for doubt. Be sure to use a setting spray to keep your highlighter glowing, but your skin far from oily.

Emily Ratajkowski: For the bride that doesn’t want to stick to convention, Emily’s teal cat eye is revolutionary. It’s a bold choice that will certainly have people talking, and if you can’t make a mark on your wedding day, when can you?

Sophie Turner at 2016 Emmy Awards

Sophie Turner: A red smokey eye is a huge trend right now, but can be intimidating for a bride (or any woman for that matter!), which is why Sophie’s toned down version is the perfect compromise. By using ruddy browns versus bright reds, you’re still treading in trend territory, but are in a much more universally wearable place.

Viola Davis at 2016 Emmy Awards

Viola Davis: The How to Get Away with Murder nominee not only gives us major inspiration with her fight for women’s equality, but her matte plum lip is also a vision! Plum is such an unexpected color for a bride that it’s an instant eye-catcher, and it’s perfectly apropos for a fall wedding.

Ellie Kemper: For the sophisticated bride, Ellie’s deep side-parted bob is a chic and modern way to wear your hair down for your big day without treading into boho territory. Make sure you take the part extremely deep for plenty of volume at the crown and drama in your pictures.

To mimic Claire’s gorgeous strands, start using deep conditioners a couple of months before your ceremony, and ask your hair stylist about getting a glaze to really add extra (lasting) shine.

Emmy Awards 2016: Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy Dole Out Major Marriage Advice on the Red Carpet

Forget dinner and a movie. For the Hollywood set, strutting along the red carpet serves as the ultimate date night activity! The too-cute couples of Tinsel Town were flaunting their love as much as they were their gorgeous couture frocks at tonight’s 2016 Emmy Awards. After all, in our opinion, arm candy is the best accessory of them all! But there was one couple in particular who was giving us major #MarriageGoals. Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy pretty much stole the show at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards with their swoon-worthy style and the too-real relationship advice they couldn’t help but share. If ‘Cutest Couple’ was an Emmy category, these adoring A-listers would be going home with the gold!

At tonight’s award show, both Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy scored Emmy nominations — Huffman for Outstanding Lead Actress in American Crime and her hubby for Outstanding Lead Actor for his role in Shameless — making them the only celebrity couple nominated. Cool, right? And the pair appeared to be playing the part of newlyweds, despite the 20 years of marriage under their belts, as they flirted and playfully posed along the red carpet with mile-wide smiles.

For television’s biggest night, Huffman donned a Tony Ward gown in a white and soft beige hue. With lace overlay and a tulle train, the actress looked breathtakingly gorgeous — no wonder why Macy couldn’t keep his eyes off of his wife!

So how does this duo feel about their duel nominations? “In the morning of the nominations, when we were both nominated, he told me ‘You’re not going to win.’ I told him, ‘You’re not going to win.’ Then we gave each other a kiss!” Huffman told ABC reporters on the red carpet.

Huffman and Macy also shared the secret behind their goal-worthy marriage with E!’s Giuliana Rancic. “I don’t think it’s easy anywhere,” explained Huffman. “It’s not for the faint of heart. We got lucky.” That they did indeed! But we love their super honest advice about working hard at their relationship. Could these two get any cuter? Answer: Yes. Yes, they can.

“I just want her to win,” Macy piped in. Swoon!

Handfasting Wedding Ceremony 101: Everything You Need to Know About the Ritual

Unity rituals are a great way to add an extra layer of meaning to your wedding ceremony before exchanging rings and vows. From lighting candles to layering colors of sand, there’s a wedding ceremony ritual to fit every couple’s style. One of the most popular options is the handfasting ceremony, but what is it exactly? Here’s an explanation from our experts.

A handfasting ceremony has its roots in ancient Celtic tradition, symbolizing the binding together of two people (and the origin of the phrase “tying the knot!”). While it is most often included in Wiccan or Pagan ceremonies, today, it has become more mainstream and pops up alongside both religious and secular vows and readings.

During the ceremony, the officiant begins by explaining the ritual and what it means to the couple. This statement often includes the notion of the couple binding their lives together and the union of their hopes and desires. The officiant then invites the couple to join hands, which symbolizes their free will to enter into the marriage. Many opt to cross hands, taking your fiancé’s right hand in your right hand and his left hand in your left hand. You could also opt to stand next to one another, joining one of your right hands with the other’s left, and have your hands bound that way, around your wrists.

From here, the officiant reads a series of vows as cords are wrapped around the couple’s hands. You could opt to use a separate cord for each vow, or twist or braid together a few cords and wrap them as one around your hands. Then, your officiant may make an additional statement about the completion of the binding and the commitment it symbolizes.

After your hands are bound, you can proceed to exchange additional vows, or use your handfasting as the vows you’ll exchange and move directly to the ring exchange.

3 Unexpected Details You'll Need to Go Over With Your Caterer

Questions Caterer Will Ask

Photo: Getty Images

Thought the only thing you and your caterer would need to discuss was what’s on the menu at your wedding? Well, think again. Caterers cover so much more than just appetizers and entrées, and there are all sorts of little details you’ll need to cover during your final meeting before the big day. To make sure you’re prepared with answers when your caterer starts asking questions you may not have expected, we asked Tanya Gurrieri, owner and operator of SALTHOUSE Catering in Charleston, to fill us in on the surprising details she likes to review with her clients.

1. The Ceremony Location
It might not seem important, but letting your caterer know where you’ll be getting hitched is actually crucial to their timing. “If the ceremony is at the same venue, we need to make sure all food service is set and staff is quiet by the time guests begin to arrive, up to 30 minutes before your ceremony begins,” says Gurrieri. This way no one is rushing around finalizing things as your guests walk over for cocktail hour, and there aren’t any kitchen noises in the background of your video. “This will impact our arrival time, staffing, and set up. We’ll want to get there early enough so we’re not running around when it’s time for you to say ‘I do.'”

2. The Table Décor and Setting
It’s not just your rental company that’s worried about what you’ll be putting on the table. “Couples often don’t realize how much goes into food service and place settings, so we’ll review the details together based on the style of food service (plated, buffet, food stations, heavy hors d’oeuvres, etc.) they’ve selected,” Gurrieri explains. This includes items your caterer will need to make sure are rented, such as bread plates, chargers, wine glasses, and flatware, as well as how each place setting will look. “Will you have a pre-set water glass, or place cards and menus at each seat? If you’re having wine served to the tables, there will also need to be wine glasses at each setting. And will you have a bread basket, pre-set bread on bread plates, or bread service? These items will all impact the look of the table, as well as how many servers we’ll need to bring with us.”

3. The Length of the Reception Party
“Folks think that once food service is over, the caterers are all finished, while others try to trim costs by cutting our service early. In reality, it’s our job to keep the reception space clean throughout the event, picking up bar glassware, cake plates, etc. as guests dance the night away,” Gurrieri reveals. “More importantly, we’re there at the end of the night for all breakdown and clean up! It’s our job to ensure the space is left in a better condition than we found it in, and that means staying until the guests are gone and clean up is complete.” So make sure you let your caterer know when everyone is packing up, so they can give you an accurate estimate of how long they’ll need to have staff on-hand.

Do We Have to Go to Our Own After-Party?

After-parties are every couple’s favorite way to keep the wedding festivities going. After all, who wants to stop celebrating when the lights come up at midnight? But while it sounds like a great idea a few months out, the day of your wedding might be a different story. So can you decide last-minute to skip your own after-party? Our experts weigh in.

Whether you’re tired, overwhelmed by the attention, or are feeling a little too tipsy, there’s nothing forcing you to attend your own after-party — but that doesn’t mean it’s canceled! Instead, let someone (your maid of honor or best man, for example) who will be attending know that the guests of honor won’t be making an appearance so they can let the rest of your guests know not to expect you. You should also make sure they let the venue manager know you won’t be attending, so they know not to try to find you with any questions. Make a point to say goodbye to people as your reception is ending so you can catch any guests you might have missed throughout the night, then head to your room and enjoy a few extra hours of sleep!

Of course, you may want to stop by for just a few minutes to get the after-party going before you head to bed. Grab a water or a club soda from the bar if one more drink just isn’t appealing, make the rounds quickly, and then make your exit. Who knows, you may get a second wind!

While you can’t force guests to stay all night, even with an open bar, have your wedding party serve as unofficial hosts to welcome guests and make sure everyone is having a blast. And make sure to collect all of those late-night stories during your morning-after brunch!
