Freddie Prinze Jr.'s Description of His First Dinner Date With Sarah Michelle Gellar Is So Cute It Hurts

Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar are the epitome of #relationshipgoals, having met during the height of their fame in the ’90s and endured 14 years of marriage. (In Hollywood years, that’s like 70 years.) In a recent Facebook Live, Prinze Jr. detailed his first ever dinner date with his now-wife, and his description of that encounter is adorbs.

It all started on their very first dinner date at a restaurant in Los Angeles, California. Prinze Jr. said that he has been on multiple dates with various Hollywood actresses before, and they all had something in common that he didn’t like.

“A lot of girls back then in Hollywood as far as the actresses, they didn’t eat, they ate salad,” said Prinze Jr., according to People.”And I had gone on a date with a handful of them; they would never eat what I would eat. You have to have that in common with me if we’re going to get along.”

Prinze Jr.’s attraction to sharing food with someone that he is dating isn’t all that uncommon or out of the ordinary. What he said next, though, is where the story gets a little, er, wacky.

“And so Sarah came to dinner with me, and we sat down and she ate everything, including a crab that they let walk across the counter, then kill while it was alive in some oil and said, ‘It’s popcorn, try.’ And she ate it without even blinking, and I was like, ‘Yo, my girl is legit.'” Ha!

Prinze Jr.’s story of his first dinner date with Gellar is heartwarming, and helps to shed some light on how the couple, who dated throughout the late ’90s and married in 2002, have enjoyed 14 happy years of marriage in Hollywood while it seems that all other celebrity couples can’t even last a few years. There is only one this you can say about these two love birds; their marriage is legit.

'Why I First Rejected His Proposal'

rejected wedding proposal

Most proposals go off without a hitch — a drop to a knee, a ring, a resounding ‘yes!’ (often with tears). But for some brides, the first time is not the charm. Here, five real brides share why they rejected their partner’s proposal at first, but with better timing and some crucial second chances, eventually changed their mind.

He proposed during our first date. Yes, we’d felt an immediate crazy attraction but Allan’s suggesting marriage seemed ridiculously impetuous. So I said ‘Let’s wait and see how we feel in six months.’ Six months later to the day he asked the question again, this time with a ring. I said yes. That was 15 happy years ago.” — Jean

“Tim was my high school love. He proposed before we went off to separate universities because he was afraid we would lose our connection otherwise. I said while I was tempted it didn’t feel like a good idea. We needed to have these formative experiences on our own, do some growing up, and when we graduated if we felt the same way, I would reconsider his lovely proposal. Both of us wound up having other relationships during college, as young people should. We always kept in touch, however. We attended each other’s graduations and started dating. Five months later he proposed again, saying, ‘I still feel the way I did back in high school. What about you?’ I said I’d never fallen out of love and this time I could accept with no doubts whatsoever. I’m glad we waited. It helped us mature and have a better chance of forging a healthy marriage.” — Anne

“I met Bill five months after a horrific divorce. Bill was a wonderful guy but I was in no way, shape, or form ready for a serious relationship and he was too wonderful to be a rebound guy. Knowing my reservations, he still proposed. And I said no. We stopped seeing each other — he said it would be too hard to continue casually dating. A year later we ran into one another at a bowling alley of all places! I was at a different place in my healing process and we started dating, this time more seriously. Eight months later he proposed again; this time I happily accepted!” — Lyn

“Carl and I met in an English Literature class, bonding over, of all things — Pride and Prejudice. Our class performed skits based on the novel. Carl was Darcy and I played Elizabeth. When he proposed there was an undeniable spark between us and even though I said no because — well, that’s what the material dictated — a part of me thought, ‘Hmmm.’ We started dating after the class ended and six months later he proposed for real. Unlike the previous pretend proposal, I unhesitatingly accepted this one.” — Pam

“I’d always thought it wasn’t a good thing to accept the first marriage proposal that came one’s way. So when Rob popped the question even though I thought we had a great relationship I couldn’t bring myself to say yes. What if someone better came along? Six years later I married the second man who asked, and we had a pretty awful marriage though stayed together for 15 years because of the kids. I finally got the nerve to get a divorce and while scrolling Facebook one day, I came across Rob. We started communicating again. He was widowed. A few months later we met in the flesh. One thing led to another and here we are, happily married at last. Do I regret the wasted years? Yes and no. I wish we’d had more time together but I can never regret having my fabulous children. And I can say without hesitation, having survived a bad marriage, I so appreciate a good one.” — Michelle

The Best Hangover Cures for the Morning After Your Wedding

best hangover cures

Photo: Getty Images

You know it was one hell of a wedding when you wake up with a pounding headache and fuzzy memories of dancing the night away with all your loved ones. But now you’re full of regret because you feel like a piece of crap! Join the club, girlfriend. Whether you’ve got a fancy morning after brunch to attend and look presentable at or not, we’ve got a few tried and true tricks up our sleeves to help you sober up and snap out of that wedding hangover stat.

hangover gif parks and rec

Drink some coconut water.
Time to replenish those electrolytes, ladies! Not to mention all the salt and potassium you’ve probably (okay, definitely) lost. Annie Lawless, creator & founder of BLAWNDE.com, advises brides to ditch the sports drinks, which pack unnecessary sugar, and stick to chugging coconut water instead. If coconut water doesn’t exactly do it for you, you can always try lemon water with apple cider vinegar to flush your liver right out.

Eat liver-supporting foods (not greasy shiz!).
Okay, we get it. Vegetables like broccoli, brussels, cauliflower and kale are probably the last thing you want to eat with a horrible hangover. However, according to Lawless, they are chocked full of enzymes that promote liver detoxification, and that’s just what you need to feel better/recover quicker, not a greasy cheeseburger. In fact, greasy foods will slow down digestion making the alcohol and hangover stick around longer. Yikes!

Sleep in for as long as possible.
Rest is your best friend! So unless you have an early morning-after brunch the next day or are jetting off to your honeymoon bright and early, let your head hit the pillow and sleep in with your honey for as long as possible. No one will blame you for staying in bed all day.

Get some exercise.
We know what you’re thinking: “Yeah, right!” However, while you can’t exactly sweat out the alcohol the next day (news flash: it’s already gone!), exercise can boost those endorphins, in turn, making you feel much more alive and less like a lifeless zombie. Be warned though: cardio with a hangover isn’t for everyone. Some peeps swear by it though. Hey, to each their own.

Try a little hair of the dog.
Having a morning after brunch? Lift your spirits with a little hair of the dog that bit you. Usually a Bloody Mary or just a can of V8 tomato juice should do the trick, says wedding planner Cate Tenopir of Tenopir Events.

Set up an oxygen bar at brunch.
Trust us, your hungover guests will thank you too! No access to an oxygen tank? No problem. Celebrity wedding planner Donnie Brown of Donnie Brown Weddings and Events tells us breathing room air deeply will also work. “Not your normal breaths. This means deeply like you do when the doctor is listening to your lungs. Think 30 minutes. It helps a lot.”

Hire a hangover cure company
Bet you didn’t know they exist, oh but they do! Wedding planner Tracie Domino, founder of Tracie Domino Events, has actually had clients book mobile hangover cure companies for their guests as part of their wedding weekend. “These companies send nurse practitioners or doctors who administer a IV bags of saline and vitamins that help reduce the effects of the hangover for the couple and their guests,” she explains. As you can guess, everyone is extremely appreciative, and you will be too.

Take a prenatal multivitamin
Who knows? You might have already made a honeymoon baby! Kidding…kind of. But on a serious note, alcohol depletes essential hangover reducing B vitamins, magnesium and Vitamin C as well, says Lawless. “Replenish your stores by popping a prenatal multi-vitamin, since they’re typically packed with higher doses of these critical nutrients.”

Miley Cyrus FINALLY Addresses Her Rumored Engagement Ring on Today Show

Since early this year, Miley Cyrus has been wearing the megawatt engagement ring Liam Hemsworth gifted her way back in 2012, leading everyone to believe that the pair was back together and heading down the aisle. Cue the joyous screams from the Milliam fans (us included!). In the months since then, Cyrus has reportedly moved into Hemsworth’s mansion, the couple has been rumored to be planning a seaside wedding down under in Australia, and even Hemsworth himself pretty much insinuated that the engagement rumors were true in a GQ interview. However, despite Hemsworth’s frequent guest appearances on her Instagram, Cyrus has remained rather tight-lipped on her relationship with The Hunger Games star. (Super annoying, right?) But the pop star finally finally finally was forced to address her rumored engagement ring on her appearance on the Today show. Again, cue the Milliam-enthusiast screams.

The 23-year-old songstress headed to New York City today to promote the upcoming season of The Voice — in which Cyrus is lending her coaching expertise — and her new Woody Allen Amazon series, Crisis In Six Scenes. But of course, during her Today appearance, the conversation turned to that rumored bridal bling sitting pretty on Cyrus’ finger.

When host Savannah Guthrie asked about the Neil Lane sparkler Cyrus was wearing, the “Wrecking Ball” singer playfully started talking about the other two rings she was toting — a watermelon-shaped ring and another featuring a strawberry. “I got this one because it was really cute,” Cyrus said, pointing to her plastic watermelon ring. “And then I got this one because it was really cute,” she continued, referring to her strawberry-shaped bling and cracking up the host. That’s not what Guthrie meant, Miley!!!!

But then Cyrus finally referenced the super special sparkler on her left ring finger — you know, the one we were ACTUALLY wondering about… “I didn’t pick this one out, but it’s cute, too” she said.

Now that’s certainly putting it lightly!

What It's REALLY Like to Be With Him (According To His Zodiac Sign)

zodiac sign dating

Photo: Getty Images

Have you ever browsed through astrology books, hoping to find a little insight before your first date with a new guy? Don’t lie; there’s no shame in the horoscope game! We’ve all been there.

Meeting a new partner, or going on a blind date can be scary because we literally know nothing about this person. What if you say something offensive? What if he likes to jog around Central Park for two hours in the morning, and you recite a dissertation on the love you have for sleeping on your couch during the day in the pajamas your Grandma Mertle gave you?

Or maybe what if he’s really sweet at first, then later on down the road (when you’ve spent lots of time together) something catches you by (unpleasant) surprise?! Even if it does work out, don’t you just want to know ahead of time?

via GIPHY

It’s only natural to feel a little anxious beforehand, so why not get a leg up on your date (no pun intended — or maybe it was — that’s for you to decide) and learn a little about his sign? It may not be gospel, but at least it can give you a peek inside his head!

Don’t believe in this mumbo jumbo? Read it anyway; you just may find out something about yourself that you didn’t realize. Keep an open mind, but most of all, have a good time!

Aries (March 21 – April 19)
Is there an Aries guy you’ve had your eye on? Expect him to be enthusiastic but laid back. With his competitive nature, he may not be the one to Netflix and chill, but he may drag you to climb an indoor mountain, or to his friend’s big gathering. He may be a bit impulsive, so if you’re more of a planner, then it may be a good idea to get that out in the open quickly.

Aries men are determined but also passionate, so be prepared for him to lead the way. His short temper may be a huge turn-off, but don’t forget, it’s a partnership, and relationships are work. Let him know how you feel; he’ll appreciate it.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
A bull is the symbol for a Taurus, and for good reason! They’ll be stubborn, but reliable. They’re into touching, and can be sensual, which can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you feel about your man.

The Taurus guy needs a confident companion who likes activities that involve using hands, like gardening, or even cooking. If he wants to make you dinner instead of taking you out, DO IT! He’ll appreciate stability, so try not to change things up on him often.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
The Gemini man will be sharp, and quick witted; telling jokes and being the center of attention won’t be foreign to him. Because he’s a smarty-pants, he’ll be into books, and music, and will likely attempt to venture out to enjoy those activities.

This gentle guy won’t like to be alone, so expect to be hanging around a lot and making memories. He might be a little anxious, but that’s OK because you’ll be there to help him calm his nerves.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Now, if hanging on the couch, catching up on Orange Is The New Black is your thing, a Cancer is the one to do it with. Cancer’s are a bit sensitive, and can sometimes see the world from a pessimistic viewpoint, but with a little guidance and compassion, you can cheer him right up!

Though he may be shy at first around your friends, and family, once he gets to know them, he will get attached and make it a point to do what he can to help anyone, and everyone around him. That could cause an issue if it’s interfering with your relationship, so always be honest if you feel he’s being taken advantage of, and make sure YOU’RE not the one doing it!

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

It’s going to be had to resist a Leo’s charm; not only is he going to be the leader, but he will always take the initiative when it comes to any complications that may arise. While he’s creative, and passionate, he could also be full of himself. It’ll be up to you to let the air out every now and then.

Leo’s tend to like expensive things, so you can expect to be gallivanting around fancy restaurants, or places to keep your strong lion happy. If you have a lot of friends, and tend to ignore the guy your with for your sister soul mates, he may get upset; they like attention. But like a puppy, they can be trained. You don’t have to give up your girl time, but definitely make some time for your Leo.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
The Virgo man may be shy at first, but no worries, he is most definitely paying attention to what you’re saying. This loyal man may enjoy nature themed activities, or even a quiet night in snuggling up on the couch with his favorite book.

He’s going to be someone who is very detail oriented and methodical, so if you can handle that, go for it! Virgo’s can be sensitive and down on themselves, so he’ll need you to pick him up on occasion. He will be hardworking, though, so if you’re looking for someone who is willing to work his ass of, a Virgo is your guy.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)
Libras like peace and harmony, so don’t expect many disagreements. Libras avoid confrontation at all costs, so make sure to keep the lines of communication open or you may accidentally misconstrue his laid back personality as a “Yes, I’m totally down for that!” when it’s really “I’d rather just sit back and hang.”

Because they’re into being fair, quiet, and down to earth, any loud mouth friends you have could scare him. Being diplomatic is one of the biggest, most known traits for a Libra, so even if he says he’s having fun with Marissa, your BFF from 3rd grade who likes to obnoxiously call out wait staff, he’s probably not.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
A Scorpio will play it calm and cool, but don’t be fooled; much like the Taurus man, he can be stubborn and distrusting. That doesn’t mean you need to stay away, it just means you need to have some patience and compliment his weaknesses with your strengths.

I hope you can take a joke because Scorpio’s love to tease, and be playful, so don’t take it personally, it’s all part of being with this sign. If you’re one to keep secrets, or withhold information, I’d try to free yourself of that burden, because these guys do NOT like secrets. It would be a shame to lose a great relationship over a minor omittance on your part.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

The Sagittarius guy is going to be the life of the party, telling jokes, mingling, and just being generally outgoing. He might say things, or make promises just to get you to like him, and not be able to deliver on those promises, so be careful. Take everything he says with a grain of salt, but don’t be overly suspicious; they tend to lean towards being impatient, and hate feeling closed in.

I’d let this relationship flow naturally, and be patient to see if there are any sparks.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Capricorn men are family oriented, and very practical. They can be a bit of a know-it-all so be confident around him, and let him know that’s a no-go if it becomes too much of a problem.

Capricorns tend to hold grudges, so keep that in mind if you’re in the middle of a spat and say something hurtful; it’ll be hard to take that back. He will probably love music, so concerts and karaoke nights are in your future; get that disco ball ready and start showing him your dance moves or prepubescent vocals. It’s all good because he will laugh and enjoy it all!

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)
Dating an Aquarius man can be a totally enriching experience, since these guys really care about making an effort to do things for other people and animals in need. Whether it be volunteering at an animal shelter together, or feeding the homeless, Aquarius men want to know that you’re going to be right up there with them, pitching in.

And even though these guys tend to run from typical emotional conversation, you’ll want to find good ways of connecting on a deeper level so you can keep your relationship alive and kicking.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
You’re going to find your Pisces to be an emotional man, and overly trusting, so be gentle with his heart. This man hates violence or cruelty of any kind, so suggesting a trip to some animal rescues may be a nice way to nurture that side of him, while also being able to see for yourself just how compassionate he is.

Seeing how selfless he can be may just knock your socks off, so be ready! Pisces men aren’t huge fans of having their past thrown in their face, so I’d steer clear of any talk of past relationships, unless he initiates it.

Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon and Vanessa Hudgens Give Major Bridal Beauty on the Red Carpet

Reese Witherspoon drinks from the fountain of youth, Kate Hudson embraces the berry trend for fall and Vanessa Hudgens has some fun with metallics.

Kate Hudson at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of “Deepwater Horizon”
: If you’re interested in a modern, dramatic look, but don’t want to get too dark (think: classic smokey eyes), Kate Hudson’s look is the perfect inspiration. Start with a super glowy complexion using either a powder foundation with mica or a natural finish BB Cream. Then go in and warm things up with a matte bronzer on the hollow of the cheeks. Keep your brows and lips natural and subtle, with just a bit of brow pencil in sparse places and a pale pink lip gloss. For the eyes, turn to the color of the season — berry — and use at least three shades — a deep burgundy smudged in the outer corners and crease, a lighter, shimmery shade of pink in the inner corners and a bright raspberry above the crease for a pop of color. Use plenty of mascara on your natural lashes, and apply a few individual lashes at the outer corners for added umph.

Reese Witherspoon at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of “Sing”
: Interested in defying the laws of nature and looking particularly fresh and youthful on your big day? Reese Witherspoon looks at least 10 years younger than she is, and here’s how you can chase your younger skin, too. In addition to adding a retinol product into your skincare routine at least three months before your big day, makeup application is also key. When you’re lining your eyes, don’t extend the liner all the way to the inner corner, stop about midway around the eye. A very light wash of pale pink blush on the apples of the cheeks is also age-defying. Finally don’t forget that all-so-important highlighter! Use a very fine powder formula that adds plenty of radiance, but not that heavy makeup look. Embracing the back-to-90s trend of slightly visible lipliner is also fun and therefore youthful!

Vanessa Hudgens at the 2016 Creative Arts Emmys:
Looking to have some fun on your wedding day, but don’t want to go with bright colors? Bring some metallics into your look ala Vanessa Hudgens! Start out with a flawless, matte complexion by buffing your foundation into place with a wet makeup sponge. Then contour your face with a matte bronzer and a highlighter that brightens, but doesn’t leave a shimmery finish (leave the shimmer for your eyes!). Give your brows some precise definition by creating straight edges as you fill them in, and tightline the eyes. Then use two shades of silver/grays$a darker shade for the entire upper lid and smudging under the lower lashes and a lighter shade for the inner corners, above the crease and out past the outer corners toward the tails of your brows. Be sure to use lots of mascara to accent the effect. A semi-matte nude lipstick is the perfect pairing.

7 Annoying Things People Say Once You Get Married

annoying things people ask when you're married

Photo: Getty Images

Ah, married life. Get ready for everyone you see after the wedding to ask you about it… like, literally everyone. From how different it is being a Mrs. to when exactly you’re going to have a baby (yes, really), here are seven annoying questions or statements you’ll totally get once you’re married.

1. So when are you having kids?
Seriously though, why do people always assume that as soon as you get hitched you’re going to start popping out babies stat? Besides the fact that it’s none of their business, it’s such a personal/awkward thing to inquire about.

2. Are you taking his last name?
God forbid you aren’t then people will have a ton of follow up questions like, “Well what about when you have kids? Don’t you want them to have the same last name as you?” And if you confirm you are in fact changing your last name and they’ve already been through the process they’ll make sure to let you know what a bitch it is. Um okay, thanks!

3. So how’s married life? Do you feel any different now?
Err, no? Should I? This one isn’t as annoying as most, but it’s like the default question everyone has to ask after the wedding so it gets real old, real quick. And for most modern brides and grooms, nothing changes except maybe the last name and the husband/wifey title. Oh, and the fact that you’re stoked not to be planning anymore!

4. Are you thinking about buying a house now that you’re married?
It’s like, have you looked at how much houses cost lately!?! Plus, who cares whether you rent or buy? A marriage license doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy a house with a white picket fence stat.

See More: 3 Little Ways to Make Married Life Easier

5. Just wondering, do you have a joint account? Or how do you guys split finances?
Just because two people are married doesn’t give you any right to inquire about how they handle their finances. It’s also the best when you wind up telling people that you do have a joint account but your own separate accounts too (especially the old fashioned folks) just to see their reaction. Shock! Pure shock. Followed by a crap load more questions. And if you only have a joint account together (nothing separate) your younger more modern peers will surely judge you (and ask more questions).

6. Oh hello there, Mrs. [insert his last name]
The singsong cutesy tone of voice that always comes with this statement just kills us! Then the person expects you to give a sweet little shy smile in response and soak up the fact that you have a brand new last name and must be so, so, so proud of it. In reality, you are, however you kind of miss your last name too and are trying to adjust to being Mrs. [insert his last name]. It’s cool, but you still have your own identity, you know?

7. Just wait until you [fill in the blank]
Have kids. Are married for 10 years. Own a house together. Etc. etc. etc. It’s like every married person in the world wants to warn you about the next step as a married couple. And it’s never positive!

The Do's (and Serious Don'ts) of Freezing Your Wedding Cake

Wedding cake (hopefully unlike marriage!) does not last forever. This means that if you’ve spent the last 10 years staring at a royal wedding slice you bought at an auction in your freezer, now is the time to throw that slice out. It’s not a complete myth that you can preserve a piece of the eight-tiered cake you bankrolled for your special day, but there are rules. We asked cake designer/pastry chef Ron Ben-Israel and Chad Pagano, pastry chef instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education, to lay it out the factors to consider when freezing.

How the Cake Is Made
Under what conditions was the cake originally made? That’s the number one question to ask when you’re considering whether a slice of cake you preserve will end up being a big Petri dish. If a cake is handled in unsanitary conditions when it’s being made, it will only take on more harmful bacteria once you trot it out in front of dozens of guests, leave it on the dance floor in open air, and later shuttle it home to shove into the freezer. However, Ben-Israel notes that if the bakery you hired is licensed by the Department of Health (and in his case, they use pasteurized eggs), you’re already in a good place once it’s time for the main event.

The composition of your cake also makes a difference. Fruit cakes (think: Downton Abbey-style) were originally made to last without refrigeration. Those were soaked in high-proof alcohol. That, combined with sugar, makes a natural preservative. Most cakes today — because of dairy and eggs — have to be frozen to last. To note, fondant cakes or cakes made with citrus curd layers preserve better than alternatives.

How the Cake Is Served
Pagano says the most danger occurs when a cake is transported to an event location. “I’m most concerned about the night of the event. Was it out on the table for eight hours in the sun at the park and then wrapped up?” If yes, you’re risking contamination. No amount of freezing will kill that bacteria. If you’re hosting your event at a catering hall that’s 68 degrees inside, it’s less likely to take on tons of extra bacteria during the ceremony and party.

How the Cake Is Wrapped and Stored
The actual freezing process is not usually the problem, it’s that “most people don’t wrap the cake properly,” says Ben-Israel.

Moisture is the enemy with freezing. Pagano recommends wrapping it as tightly as possible — “there’s no such thing as overwrapping” — so that no additional moisture or bacteria collects on the cake. “Every time you open and close the freezer, you let moisture in,” he says. “But they froze Walt Disney. If we had that freezer, the cake would be good forever.” (Jury’s still out on the Walt Disney freezing rumors, but it’s true that cakes are great candidates for freezing if you control for contamination before preserving.)

The top tier of a cake, wrapped tightly in plastic wrap will be completely protected from air and freezer burn. “Eat it at the year mark, but not beyond then,” says Ben-Israel. The decorative flowers, made out of sugar paste, basically last forever. “Sugar without moisture doesn’t go bad.”

How the Cake Is Served on the First Anniversary
After a year is up, don’t just take a slice from your freezer and put it on your counter to defrost. A day or two before the anniversary, move it to the refrigerator (still covered). After it’s defrosted, remove it from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature (still wrapped). You won’t have that soft outside, frozen inside problem either.

Ben-Israel saw a client post on Twitter that she was diving into her cake three years after her wedding day. He tried calling her, tweeting her, texting her — anything to warn her she might get food poisoning. She uploaded a picture of the cake at the restaurant, smiling. No response.

“I watched her feeds for the next month to see if anything happened. I saw nothing. Everything seems to be fine.”

Not that we would recommend doing the same. Memories last a lifetime; frosted cakes don’t.
