9 Date Night Ideas That Don't Require Leaving Your Place

At Home Date Night Ideas

Photo: Getty Images

When you and your fiancé don’t feel like going out, it can become second nature just to flick on Netflix. We’ve got nothing against Orange Is the New Black marathons, but there is a lot more you can do on a night in together. Here are a few activities you can try if you’ve gotten bored of the same old Netflix-and-chilling routine.

1. Make themed dinner-TV combos. Watch a travel show and cook meals inspired by the different destinations. Cooking together forces you to work as a team, and you can fantasize about your next trip together.

2. Play board games.
Game nights don’t have to be for families. Classic games like Monopoly, Scrabble, and Twister can actually be really fun. Or, to add an adult twist, you can play a strip version of just about anything.

3. Have a picnic. You don’t need to go to the park to have a picnic. Put together baskets, blankets, and candles if you want to be fancy and bring them out to your porch, yard, or balcony. Dress up to make it feel like more of an outing.

4. Ask each other these questions. In one famous experiment, scientists reportedly made couples fall in love in the lab by having them answer these 36 questions and look each other in the eyes.

5. Hold an at-home Chopped competition. Get out an eclectic mix of ingredients and see what you can do with them.

6. Host an at-home dance party. Turn on your favorite music and have as much fun as you would at the club, minus the crowd.

7. Exchange massages. Unlike going to the salon, couples’ massages are two-sided and totally free.

8. Play video games. You don’t need a video game system — you can team up on Pokemon Go, Angry Birds, or whatever’s on your phone.

9. Get sweaty. It’s easy to find home yoga and exercise videos on Youtube. The endorphins you get from breaking a sweat together can boost your attraction, and it’ll help motivate both of you to get moving.

6 Tried and True Honeymoon Packing Tips for a Two-Week Excursion

Two Week Honeymoon Packing Tips

Photo: Getty Images

A two week honeymoon in paradise? Heaven. Packing for it? Not so much. Worry not! Regardless of whether you’re headed for tropical beaches, European adventures or continent-crossing cruises, packing for 14 days can be a doozy, but it doesn’t have to be. Check out our 6 tried and true honeymoon packing tips for a 2 week excursion. You can thank us for the extra souvenir room later.

Roll It!
It’s a packing secret that efficient travelers swear by. Rethink your traditional folding methods and opt to roll your items instead. Rolling helps avoid wrinkles and creases, and also allows for a more compact fit. By ditching folding, you can also have a more organized feel to your luggage, and see everything at-a-glance, versus digging through for what you need and messing up your folds.

Wear Your Bulk
You’ll want to bring sneakers, a comfy hoodie, a hat, sunglasses and more, but all of these items are a pain to pack, and take up tons of space. Before you opt to leave them behind, wear them instead! By wearing these items for on the plane, you eliminate overcrowding and are cozy and stylish while in-flight, too!

Do Your Research
Look into your hotel and resort options as many offer laundry and dry cleaning services. If not, inquire about local laundry options to know if you will have the option of laundering your clothes while away. Reassurance that you’ll be able to re-wear your favorite items regardless of sweat, spills or stains can help you to feel less obligated to overstuff those bags.

Prepare Before You Pack
“When you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Remember this rings true even when it comes to packing your suitcase. Carefully review your itinerary and get a rough count of how many formal dinner, workout, beach, and casual daytime outfits you will need. Then, select the pieces that are neutral for the most occasions — think black sweaters for cool nights, nude pumps to match every outfit, etc. The more you can do with less, the better off you’ll be.

Prioritize
Once you’ve determined what you want to pack, make a list and numerically rank each item in order of importance and need. As you pack, cross off the items. As you get towards the end, if everything fits, you’re a packing superstar. If not, if you’ve properly prioritized you should be able to leave these items behind without guilt or worry. FYI: Since this is your honeymoon and all, the less you wear to bed, the less you need to pack!

Condense Halfway
Especially for those with a few destinations on their honeymoon journeys, halfway through the trip assess what is dirty, what you probably won’t end up wearing (it will happen!), and what you are still waiting to wear. Take your two suitcases (yours and your new SPOUSE’s!) and designate one to be the “dirty” one, and one to be the “clean.” Doing this will essentially narrow down your luggage to only one suitcase to sort through as you travel and the other as literally — wait for it — excess baggage.

Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz's Wedding Drama is Too Much to Handle in New Vanderpump Rules Trailer

We all obsessed over Vanderpump Rules stars Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz’s wedding photos when they surfaced on social media last month. And who could blame us? That gorgeous wooded wedding venue, the bridesmaids dressed in white, and that incredibly dramatic lace wedding dress… we still swoon. Speaking of dramatic, a just-released trailer for the new season of Vanderpump Rules gives a magnificent sneak peek into the long journey of drama that brought Maloney and Schwartz to the altar, where Lisa Vanderpump is officiating, because of course.

The above trailer, released by Bravo on Monday, shows the Real Housewife and restaurateur welcoming the couple’s wedding guests “to celebrate one of life’s greatest moments.” Her officiating message of love stands in stark contrast to the flashes of scenes full of drama and contention between Vanderpump Rules stars, including Jax Taylor and his girlfriend (and show newbie) Brittany Cartwright — in front of Cartwright’s mother, Taylor says that she’s been “sitting on the couch for a year” while he takes care of her — as well as veteran Pump stars Stassi Schroeder, Scheana Marie Shay and Tom Sandoval.

The biggest shockers of all though have to be the pre-wedded fights between Maloney and Schwartz. Obviously thanks to social media, we know that these two did in fact say “I do” in that gorg California wedding, but these scenes definitely have us worried. At one point, Schwartz threatens to call off the wedding, and Maloney claims that his “d*** doesn’t work.” The two are also seen arguing at their joint New Orleans bachelor/bachelorette party, with Schwartz stating, “I’m not marrying her!” We’ve heard of fiancé fights before, but damn!

Okay, so these fights obviously give us equal parts anxiety and excitement — as all the Vanderpump Rules drama does — but one thing we just cannot wait for? Seeing the Maloney-Schwartz wedding on film, as now we have confirmation that Bravo covered the nuptials for the show. (Season five of Vanderpump Rules will premiere on November 7 on Bravo.) Reliving the Shay wedding of 2014 (and that epic parking lot fight between Kristen Doute and James Kennedy) can only hold us over for so long!

This Couple's Mexican Beach Wedding Had Unreal Views of the Pacific Ocean

Mandi Meng spent Memorial Day weekend of 2012 at the Surf Lodge in Montauk, New York. There, some friends of friends introduced her to Scott Kotchko, and they immediately hit it off. A couple of years later, Scott planned a weekend getaway to Rhode Island, and Mandi sensed that a proposal was in store on their trip. But as she was packing engagement-worthy outfits, Scott completely surprised her by popping the question right then and there. They had a champagne toast on their rooftop before kickstarting their romantic getaway as a newly-engaged couple.

Since the pair dreamed of a destination wedding, they smartly lined up an all-star planning team that included the local pros from Event Design by Marianna Idirin and a wedding coordinator from their venue, Esperanza, an Auberge Resort, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. On December 12, 2015, a year and four months after they got engaged, Mandi and Scott welcomed 60 guests south of the border for a beachfront ceremony and reception. Ana & Jerome Photography were on hand to capture every beautiful moment of this couple’s sunny destination nuptials.

The bride always knew she wanted a wedding in the sand, but it was particularly hard for the couple to find a venue in Cabo San Lucas as the area had been hard-hit by a hurricane in 2014. Many properties weren’t opening again until late spring, so Mandi and Scott had to pick their space based on reviews alone. With help from their wedding planner, they pulled off an unforgettable day inspired by the colors of sea glass and the venue’s stunning surroundings. “I wanted to use a lot of natural wood elements and greenery to enhance the beauty of the hotel without being overwhelming,” the bride says.

To get guests excited for the party to come, Mandi and Scott chose a Mexican-inspired invitation suite, complete with a postcard save-the-date. “The hardest part of planning was tackling the guest list,” Mandi says. “Since we were having a smaller destination wedding, we really had to narrow down who we were able to invite, which was incredibly difficult.”

The bride spent the morning getting ready with her ‘maids, who donned adorable robes in a fun tropical print. Talk about picture-perfect style!

Mandi’s Amsale wedding dress, a corseted silk taffeta ball gown with lace applique details, was the very first style she tried on. “Luckily, Amsale was having a trunk show at Bridals by Lori in Atlanta on the day I went shopping, and the runway sample fit perfectly,” she says.

The bride accessorized with her grandmother’s art-deco watch from the 1920s, her father’s fraternity pin attached to the pocket of her gown, and custom Lazaro diamond earrings from the groom. The finishing touch was her bouquet of white roses, succulents, greenery, cotton blossoms, and blue hydrangea, all tied with a silk ribbon.

Bridesmaids chose their own dresses, following Mandi’s request that they each select a look they loved in a sea glass-hue.

The groom wore a John Varvatos tuxedo paired with a Paul Smith shirt and Gucci bowtie. He also wore Stubbs & Wooten shoes, a vintage Omega Speedmaster watch, and custom jet skull cufflinks by Lazaro, a gift from his bride.

Groomsmen wore their own black tuxedos with black bowties. “We wanted a classic look, which was updated by succulent and raffia boutonnieres,” Mandi says.

A live band played the harp, ukulele, and cello during the oceanfront ceremony. At the end of the beachy aisle, the bride and groom had a custom-made chuppah constructed out of natural wood and white panels.

As the bridal party made their entrances, the band performed Voluntary Trumpet, and when Mandi and her father began their walk down the aisle, the band switched over to Pachelbel’s Canon in D. The duo chose a personalized ceremony, most of which Scott wrote himself. “He even wrote the vows we recited, which made it really personal and special,” says Mandi.

After the ceremony, Mandi changed into a white lace and silk chiffon dress from Grace Loves Lace, complete with a plunging back. “I actually found it on Pinterest and had to order it custom from Australia — that’s how much I loved it!”

At the reception, guests were treated to another stunning view of the ocean as they took their seats in mismatched vintage chairs at round wood tables topped with blue linens. Centerpieces of white roses, succulents, and cotton blossoms were surrounded by mercury glass candles. Each table was marked with a glass box filled with pale blue blooms.

As a nod to their Mexican venue, the bride and groom swapped traditional place cards for mini Casomigos tequila bottles with guests names and seating assignments.

In addition to comfortable lounge seating, guests could slip away for a visit to the couple’s tequila bar for drinks. To amp up the romantic ambiance of the space, Mandi and Scott lined the reception area with silver and gold lanterns from Morocco. Dinner was a full Mexican buffet, which included a guacamole bar and al pastor station. For dessert, everyone lined up at a made-to-order churro station and dove into the couple’s three-tier vanilla wedding cake with succulent detailing.

Mandi and Scott shared their first dance to “Field of Gold” by Eva Cassidy. Shortly after, a gift from the couple’s parents surprised everyone. “We were dancing on the terrace overlooking the ocean, and the sky was lit up with beautiful fireworks. It was truly a magical fairytale moment,” Mandi says.

After soaking up every moment of their big day, the couple stayed at the venue for a mini-moon. They’re currently considering Greece, St. Lucia, the Maldives, and Thailand for a longer honeymoon to celebrate.

Can You Ever Un-Invite a Wedding Guest?

What to do When Wedding Guests Cancel Last-Minute

Photo: Getty Images

Choosing who makes the cut when you’re putting together your wedding guest list is hard enough. Addressing the situation when you don’t want the guest to come, after all? Talk about stressful. But sometimes, circumstances require that you rescind an invitation, no matter how difficult the situation might be. So when, exactly, can you take back that invite? Our experts break it down.

The situations where you can un-invite a wedding guest are few and far between. First, the times when you unfortunately cannot take back that invitation: If your final guest count exceeds the venue’s capacity, if you’ve gone over-budget, or if you’d rather invite your new coworker than that friend from kindergarten. These are all things you should consider before you send invitations out, so make sure you’re being thorough when you’re making that guest list!

You can, however, politely take back an invitation in a select few situations, such as if you and the guest have had a serious falling out, or if they were invited as a friend’s plus-one (where you know their date better) and the couple has broken up.

If you do come across a situation where you need to ask a guest not to attend your wedding after all, tread lightly. Begin by delicately addressing whatever has made you decide they probably shouldn’t come. This isn’t the time to get deep into your differences, but instead to politely say that, while you greatly appreciate that they wanted to be there to celebrate with you, the circumstances make it seem like it may not be the best decision, after all.

If the guest in question is, for example, your maid of honor’s ex-boyfriend, you probably barely need to have the conversation (if at all). If the two of you had a fight, you might have to explain that you’re concerned that your difficult situation could have a negative impact on your enjoyment of your wedding day.

Justin Theroux Reveals His Secret to a Happy Marriage with Jennifer Aniston

Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston Marriage Secret

Brangelina, who? Although the world may be clamoring to catch a glimpse of a smug smile from Jennifer Aniston after the breakup of Angelina Jolie and Aniston’s ex-husband Brad Pitt, the actress has been been hashtag over it for a decade now and there’s no better proof than her current hubby, Justin Theroux. A little over two months after celebrating their first wedding anniversary, Theroux and Aniston are seemingly still cruising along the honeymoon phase, looking totally adorbs on the red carpet and on romantic dinner dates — including a recent double date with fellow power couple Emily Blunt and John Krasinski! And luckily for us, Theroux just shared his secret to martial success with his beautiful bride.

After five years together (the couple first began dating in 2011) and one year of marriage, Theroux seems to have a pretty good idea of what makes his marriage to Aniston work. There’s no denying that these two are totally compatible. (We mean, have you seen their too-cute chemistry in there red carpet pics?) But what’s the real recipe for their sweet success? Well, during his press junket for his upcoming flick The Girl on the Train, Theroux revealed their secret…

“We appreciate each other’s sense of humor, we respect one another and we get along,” the actor shared with Entertainment Tonight. “I know it sounds simple but it’s true!” We couldn’t possibly agree more with you, Theroux! So simple. But so, so true.

And we’re sure that those aforementioned date nights don’t hurt either! The couple recently cozied up during an at-home double date night, along with John Krasinski and Theroux’s The Girl on the Train co-star Emily Blunt. The two power duos reportedly viewed the presidential debate together on Monday night, according to Entertainment Tonight, because there’s nothing sexier than registered voters.

Maybe Brangelina should’ve taken a page out of Theroux’s playbook? #SorryNotSorry. Aniston and Theroux have been keeping a rather low profile since the announcement of Pitt and Jolie’s split. As any pop culture aficionado could tell you, Aniston was married to Pitt for five years before they divorced in 2005, with Pitt going public with his relationship with Jolie soon after. And with the world waiting with bated breath for a comment on the drama, Theroux finally spoke out on Jolie and Pitt’s divorce during the The Girl on the Train press tour.

“As a child of divorce, all I can say is that’s terrible news for those children and that’s all you can really say,” the actor told Business Insider. “It’s boring to sort of comment on anything else. People are having a bad time. That’s horrible.”

He also shut down the media’s “nonsense” attempts at throwing Aniston into Brangelina’s marital problems. “There’s an endless appetite for trash, apparently,” he said.

She’s just too busy enjoying those date nights with her new hubby, thank you very much.

The Most Breathtaking Engagement Rings in Every Style

Before checking off the four C’s, find a rock that reflects your vibe. From classic round to vintage asscher, the gang’s all here. Behold below, every engagement ring cut and a few of our favorites of each of the super stunning styles.

Oval
Oval-cut engagement rings are pretty much as regal as they come. After all, actual royalty — i.e. Kate Middleton — rocks an oval-cut rock. And for us non-royal folk, the elongated shape of oval stones serves as an optical illusion, meaning that a smaller carat size will actually look bigger than it really is. Can you say score? (Above: Oval-cut ring in a platinum band with diamond pavé, Graff)

Round
It doesn’t get more classic than round-cut bridal baubles. A perennial favorite, this sparkly stone manages to reflect a ton of light, stun in pretty much any setting, fit any finger, and will never go out of style. (Promise!) What more could a bride-to-be want? (Round-cut ring set in 18-karat white gold with diamond pavé, Forevermark)

Emerald
Emerald-cut engagement rings are a celebrity favorite (Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, and Amal Alamuddin all tote emerald-cut sparklers). So if you want a Hollywood-worthy ring, look no further! You’ll feel like the paparazzi taking your own #EngagementRingSelfie. (Emerald-cut diamond ring set in platinum, Tiffany & Co.)

Cushion
Kanye West knew what he was doing when he gifted Kim Kardashian a cushion-cut engagement ring. The cut has been beloved by brides-to-be since the 19th century and the rounded edges of the stone not only increase the facet size (making your bling extra blingy), but they help soften the look for a truly pretty vibe. (Cushion-cut platinum engagement ring with diamond pavé, De Beers)

Pear
Carrie Bradshaw may not have loved her pear-shaped diamond (“with a gold band”), but the style is currently having a major moment — and it’s easy to see why. They’re chic, a total standout, and the teardrop shape helps elongate the finger. Carrie was crazy… (Pear-shaped platinum ring with tapered baguettes, Harry Winston)

See More: Every Engagement Ring Style, and the Celebrities Who Wear Them

Heart
Heart-shaped engagement rings are definitely unique — but they still set our hearts aflame! Before calling off her engagement to Taylor Kinney (R.I.P.), Lady Gaga rocked a heart-shaped diamond from her former beau that has since given us permanent heart eyes. (Heart-shaped diamond ring set in platinum, Neil Lane Jewelry)

Marquise
The coolest benefit of marquise-cut bridal baubles? They look equally as stunning in a traditional vertical setting or in a more unusual east-west setting (i.e. where the stone is placed horizontally on the band) for an #EngagementRingSelfie that’ll really standout. (Marquise-cut platinum ring, Tacori)

Asscher
The Asscher-cut style first hit the market in 1902, before gaining popularity during the Art-Deco movement. With wider corners and eight elegant sides, the ring can capture more light for a truly eye-popping effect. (Asscher-cut diamond with a platinum band, Stephen Russell)

Making a Murderer Star Steven Avery is Engaged AGAIN

If you’ve ‘Netflix-n-Chill’-ed recently, then his name will definitely ring a bell: Steven Avery, who may still be in prison, but that doesn’t stop him from finding love. The Making a Murderer star is engaged to Lynn Hartman, a legal secretary. The clincher? He’s only met her once.

Avery is set to marry Lynn Hartman, who hails from Nevada, per his lawyer Kathleen Zellner, who recently made a statement about the engagement. “Steven Avery’s engagement to Lynn is one bright spot in an otherwise unbelievably tragic and unfair life story. Cheers to both of them.” The pair has been dating for about eight months, but only met face-to-face for the first time recently, according to The Daily Mail.

Photo: Facebook via Un-Making a Murderer

The duo’s romance has been kept top secret until recently, when letters and phone calls turned into an in-person meeting last week at Waupun Correctional Institute in Wisconsin, where Avery has been imprisoned for the last 11 years. The 53-year-old was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of Teresa Halbach in 2005 — which includes a widely debated murder narrative that has much of the public still questioning his innocence thanks to the Making a Murderer Netflix documentary (which most of us obsessively watched over the course of two days — sleep? Who needs sleep?). Avery’s nephew Brendan Dassey, now 26, was also convicted in the same murder, but is now set to be released in the next 60 days.

Before the Netflix series, which was filmed over the course of 10 years by Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi, Avery served 18 years on the charge of rape due to a DNA evidence snafu. Since that time, he has been married twice and engaged three times — which includes the time during his first and second stints in prison. While many would think that a prison sentence would deter women from ogling and pining after him, his ex-fiancée Sandra Greenman shared in an interview with The Daily Mail that Avery allegedly receives up to 40 letters a day from women who view him as a “sex symbol.”

And his newest love is no different. “Despite all obstacles, and Steven’s wrongful conviction and incarceration, we plan to be married shortly after he is released,” his new fiancé explained.

While we don’t see any engagement ring on her finger as of yet, it sounds like their plans are pretty set in stone and the former mechanic, 53, seems to concur. “I’m happy, she treats me decent, she loves me, she’s kind of spoiling me right now. I just want to be happy and enjoy my life, I think I did enough time. She’s going to be my future wife. We’ll be laughing forever.”

We may be hearing wedding bells sooner rather than later, as his lawyer, Kathleen Zellner has been working on overturning his case. A new wife and fresh out of prison for the second time? Now that would be another very interesting Netflix follow-up documentary. For now, we’ll just have to sit back and see how it all unfolds.

Virgin Brides, THIS Is What to Expect on Your Wedding Night

Tips for Virgin Brides

Photo: Getty Images

Are you waiting until marriage to have sex? Then keep your first kiss in mind. Yes, your first kiss. No matter how experienced a kisser you and your partner were at the time you started dating, you didn’t know yet how to kiss each other yet. You were absolute beginners.

But by the end of your first make-out session, you’d already learned about each other’s kissing preferences. A month of kissing each other under your belt, and you’d started to establish your kissing style as a couple — how intense, how much drama, how much tongue. After a while, satisfying kisses came naturally. Now you’re masters at kissing each other. But that didn’t happen automatically — it took a bit of time, effort, and adapting to each other. It was a process, getting to that place of it feeling natural. Same goes for sex.

Arriving at the bridal suite on your wedding night is a big deal. But be prepared that you’re going to be exhausted, sweaty from dancing, maybe a bit tipsy. Not the greatest setup, but if consummating your marriage on your wedding night is important to you both, by all means, consummate away.

See More: 18 Gorgeous Lingerie Pieces You Can Buy Now

Be sure to keep the “first kiss” analogy in the back of your mind. This first time you have intercourse, there will be some bumbling around (and likely a bit of pain — expect some stretching your lady parts, since a penis is going where no penis has gone before). Don’t be dismayed if you’re not instantly orgasming (the bridal suite isn’t a ridiculous RomCom or porn set, after all) or that you don’t feel as natural or compatible having sex for the first time as you do kissing each other. Second time, you’ll have learned from the first. A week, a month, a year of intercourse together, and everything will be different from the first night in the bridal suite.

Take the long view: You’re in this marriage and this sex life for the long haul. And that’s how a satisfying married sex life is built — over time.
