5 Edgy Eye Makeup Looks Perfect for the Bachelorette Party

Fashion-forward, graphic eyeliner probably isn’t the romantic look you have in mind for your wedding day, but it’s the perfect bold look for your bachelorette party. We asked five makeup artists to weigh in with their favorite sexy, standout eye looks to complete your girls’ night out style.

Mixed Metals
For a night of dancing, makeup artist Christina Chen says you can’t go wrong with a metallic smoky eye. Start by drawing a thick line of black eyeliner all around the eyes then smudge so it fades out on the edges. Pat a metallic eyeshadow on top of the black on the center/front part of the eyelid to give it a nice pop. Blend the edges with a softer brown hue. “You can add a dab of glitter on the inner corner of the eyes, or use a little clear gloss on the outer bottom edge of the eye to give a ‘fireworks’ effect,” says Chen.

Go Graphic
“I think a graphic liner look for a bachelorette party would be really fun,” says Jessika Bekteshi, a makeup artist based in New York City. “I like using felt tip liquid liners like Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. They have some beautiful colors. I also really love gel liners sharpened to a fine point so I can draw shapes. Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Eyeliner has some great bold bright colors perfect for a night out.”

Bold and Blue
Get playful for your girls’ night out with a look that screams mermaid-meets-cat-eye. For the bold, blue style, makeup artist Kate McCarthy suggests applying a silvery base shade, like the one found in Osmosis Colour’s Misty Blue Eye Shadow Trio, to your lids. Next, use a contour shadow brush to apply a deeper grey hue to your crease, like the mid-tone shade in the Misty Blue shadow trio. Line the upper lash line with Osmosis Colour Navy Eye Pencil, using an eye liner brush to wing it out. Using a smudge brush and Osmosis Colour Azure Water Color, add a pop of teal to your liner by lightly pressing the color into your upper lash line. Next, take a clean smudge brush and Osmosis Topaz Water Color to line your lower lash line. The opposing shades will add dimension and really make your eyes pop. Finish off the look with Osmosis Volumizing Mascara and voila!

Smoke Signals
Your bachelorette party is not the time to be shy, go big on glam with a full smoky eye. Makeup artist Ashlee Glazer, who frequently works with Pucker Makeup Studio and Dreamdry in New York City, suggests using a creamy black pencil, like L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeliner in Black Noir, to line the inner waterline and a thick line above the eye. “Take a puffy blending brush and buff all over the lid,” she says. “Try a colored metallic eyeshadow in a cranberry or sapphire for fall. Wet the shadow brush with a dab of water for more impact and press the color on the eyeball for a fun pop of color, a la Gigi Hadid or Emily Ratajkowski. Pro tip: The more you press, the more pigment you will get on the lid.

Give It Some Glitter
Glitter is coming back to beauty in a major way, but this isn’t the same look you rocked in middle school. Los Angeles-based makeup artist Denise Weston suggests giving your cat eye a dose of glitz for a more dramatic eye look on your night out. Draw your cat eye with a black liquid or gel liner the way you normally would, then layer it with a glitter liner on the top lid only to make your eyes pop. “You also want to apply black liner to the waterline inside your eye to the top and bottom lashes to increase it its smokiness,” she says. Add a set of faux lashes for a bombshell finish.
