Like he does through an Olympic-sized swimming pool, Ryan Lochte is moving along the wedding planning process at warp speed! Barely a week after proposing to his sweetheart, model Kayla Rae Reid, Lochte is already talking big day details — and babies! Better get the pool floaties ready…
Lochte proposed to Reid last weekend with a gold medal worthy diamond engagement ring while overlooking the picturesque Malibu Canyon in Los Angeles. “Speechless. Absolutely beautiful. So in love with YOU,” Reid captioned a snapshot of the super sweet moment.
“My family says, ‘Don’t you think it’s a little too soon?'” Lochte previously told USA Today of his nine month relationship with his now-fiancé. “I’m like, ‘Can you put a time on love? Can you?'” Apparently not! And like their whirlwind engagement, the couple is going for the gold in speedy wedding planning, as the groom already seems to have a pretty good idea of how he wants to plan the big day.
“This is not just her wedding, even though everyone always says it’s the woman’s wedding, but it’s mine too and we’re a couple now,” Lochte recently told E! News, explaining how he wants to get involved in the big day details. Brides of the world, try not be too jealous of this ultra-helpful groom! “I wanted to be involved as much as possible. I want to help her pick out the flowers, help pick out the cake…like everything. I want to be right there with her.”

The big day detail this Dancing with the Stars contestant is most excited about? The first dance, of course! And Lochte promised that his DWTS partner, Cheryl Burke, will be playing an important part in it. “She’s going to be choreographing the whole thing,” Lochte said, to which Burke replied, “Well, that’s going to cost you, buddy!” Can’t she just consider it his wedding present?
And despite the fact that the pair haven’t yet said their “I do’s,” Lochte is already adorably thinking ahead to their future family. “Before I even got engaged, I wanted a family of my own,” he said. “I wanted to find the right one first and then have kids with her. Now that I’ve found the right one, that’s something we definitely talk about… We want kids and I mean, I’m ready to be a dad.”
