And just like that another celeb duo has called it quits. Several news outlets are currently reporting that Mariah Carey and James Packer have thrown in the towel, after getting engaged just this past January. The reason for the split is murky, although various sources are claiming that the “Glitter” star’s reality TV show may have something to do with the couple’s downward spiral.
According to TMZ , their relationship “has been plagued with issues” and “what may have been the deal breaker for Packer came when she had some sort of rendezvous with one of the dancers in her Vegas show.”
Oh, Mariah.

Apparently the Australian billionaire wanted nothing to do with his fianceé’s reality show, and it’s ultimately what caused their demise. “It’s all over,” a close family friend told Woman’s Day. “James had huge reservations about Mariah’s new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world.” It was clear things were a little rocky between the two when Carey’s ex-husband, Nick Cannon, showed up to the singer’s Halloween party but her fiancé didn’t. On a lighter note though, she diiid slay in that devil costume.

Regardless of the outcome of this sad, sad alleged split, can we please take a moment to mourn Carey’s $7.5 million emerald-cut engagement ring? Sources report that the “We Belong Together” star gets to keep the ginormous bling that Packer proposed to her with in New York City in January, but wouldn’t she feel a little awk still showing it off on that finger? Maybe she can craft it into a necklace or something, but it’ll NEVER be the same.
