Each week we take a deeper look at one of our favorite new love stories, and today we’re taking you straight to Hawaii for Melissa and Rich’s beachfront wedding.

If this fun-filled day, captured by D.P. Weddings, doesn’t make you want to jump on the first flight to Kona, Hawaii, then we don’t know what will. In fact, this pretty celebration, held at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, is giving us serious location envy. After all, who wouldn’t want to tie the knot at a luxury resort overlooking white sand beaches and the clear blue Pacific?

While the location itself is obviously incredible, it’s not all we love about Melissa and Rich’s wedding. This pair did far more than just tie the knot in paradise — they made sure their day was infused with pieces of Hawaii, too. Some other details that totally won us over were airy fabric ceremony structure, locally inspired ceremony, and the bride’s beautiful tropical bouquet.

But when it came to the reception, this pair went totally classic (Read: seriously fun). From the second Melissa and Rich were pronounced husband and wife the night became all about celebrating. From their choreographed first dance to the never-empty dance floor, this couple and their guests made sure the night was a blast.

The 5 Times You'll Totally Need to Take a Breather During Wedding Planning

take break wedding planning

Photo: Getty Images

Wedding planning definitely isn’t for the faint of heart! The entire process will test you in ways you never even knew possible. You’ll want to laugh, cry, scream, and jump for joy. There will be highs and lows and ups and downs — and sometimes you’ll feel like literally you’re going out of your mind. We swear it’s all worth it in the end though. To help you maintain your sanity and everyone else’s too, here are 5 times all brides should take a breather and find their zen.

1. When you’re creating the guest list
Your partner wants to invite everyone and their brother, and you want to keep it small and intimate. Meanwhile, your mother-in-law has a guest list a mile long of her own and is insisting you invite everyone on it. The truth of the matter is, no matter how you slice it, creating a guest list is one of those things that you’re probably (scratch that, definitely) going to have to revisit several times before you can really narrow it down and finalize the head count.

2. When it starts causing a rift between you and your fiancé
Wedding planning should be fun and something you and your partner both bond over. But if your partner isn’t invested However, it’s time to take a step back and reevaluate when you’re fighting more than you’re having fun and the planning process is starting to negatively affect your relationship. If this happens, try planning a date night where no wedding talk is allowed. Work on nurturing your relationship instead, and remember why you’re saying, “I do” in the first place.

3. When you literally have no life outside of the wedding
Your friends have stopped calling and texting you to hang out because you’re always busy with wedding stuff on the weekends, and you have to work late on weeknights because you can’t stop Pinteresting at the office. Girl! You need to take a chill pill and step away from the planning craziness like now before you lose your job and have no one to invite to the wedding you’re obsessed with. Limit the planning to one day or afternoon a week, and get together with your besties for a girl’s night out or spa day. They miss you!

4. When you’re overwhelmed by all the decisions
From what cake designer to pick to the type of flowers you want in your wedding bouquet, there are so many itty-bitty yet oh-so-important decisions to be made along the way. While we definitely don’t advocate procrastinating by any means, we do advise taking a break when you’re on the verge of a panic attack because you’re so overwhelmed by all the choices. Take a deep breath, relax for a bit and remember that it will be okay.

5. When you’re about to go bananas on a vendor
Yes, you might be pissed off and that particular vendor might completely deserve your rage. Regardless, you should always recommend allowing yourself some time to cool down and consider how you’d like to respond without letting all your emotions get in the way. You’d hate to ruin a relationship over a simple mix up or mistake that’s easily fixable.

How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks Before Your Wedding Day

Microneedling Stretch Marks

Photo: Getty Images

If you’re among the 90 percent of women who suffer from stretch marks, you’re well aware that they are 1. beyond annoying and 2. tough to overcome. And while a healthy balance of pre-wedding diet and exercise is a surefire way to help you achieve your body goals for the big day — and look great in that white bikini for your destination bachelorette — there’s a certain level of genetics at play that makes stretch marks (and cellulite, for that matter) tough to beat on your own.

Stretch marks, or striae, are indented streaks that often appear on the stomach, hips, butt, breasts, and thighs. They vary in thickness and color (usually pink or reddish-purple to start, fading to silvery-white overtime), and are caused by a stretching of the skin due to rapid weight gain, pregnancy, fluctuating hormone levels, and sometimes, pure genetics, according to the Mayo Clinic.

While losing weight when stretch marks first arise can help diminish their appearance, consistent aerobic exercise and strength training — to replace body fat with muscle — won’t make them vanish (unlike cellulite, in certain cases). Think of stretch marks like scars in the middle layer of your skin. Sounds impossible to get at, right?

Not so — if you have a good doctor. We sought out Jennifer Chwalek, M.D., a board certified dermatologist at Union Square Laser Dermatology who specializes in cosmetic and laser surgery. Dr. Chwalek recommended microneedling, which “is often used to smooth out acne scars and fine wrinkles on the face, but can also treat stretch marks on the body.” Dr. Chwalek explained that microneedling requires less downtime compared to popular laser treatments. “Fraxel or vbeam lasers can combat redness caused by stretch marks, but the results often fall short of expectations and treatments on the body may take longer to heal,” she says.

We decided to try a round of treatment with EndyMed’s Intensif RF Microneedle. The device — essentially a thin wand hooked up to a standing machine — is outfitted with super fine needles, which, when placed flush on the skin, penetrate down into its deepest layer (the dermis) to essentially “traumatize” the skin and, as a result, kick-start the production of collagen and elastin (those forever-young factors) through the body’s natural healing process. This particular device also uses radiofrequency to heat the deeper dermis, which can increase the effects.

See More: Semi-Permanent Bridal Beauty Treatments to Try Before the Big Day

After I was properly numbed-up with topical cream, Dr. Chwalek began working the wand over the individual stretch marks. Each poke was painless, but felt like it was pinching my skin from the inside out (weird). We treated my right side and then the left, over a 20 to 30 minute period, chatting all the while (she’s a super chill, easy to talk to doc, by the way).

My skin was fairly red immediately following the treatment, gradually becoming less so over the next few days, and also slightly itchy — which I took as a sign that something was working. Each spot where the microneedle went into my skin remained visible for about two weeks, so Dr. Chwalek recommends planning your treatments at least that far in advance of any event (or any vacation that involves being in a bikini), and also advises three to five treatments total. So if you decide to go for it in preparation for your big day, plan to start at least six months out.

7 Ways to Come Up With Badass Names for Your Signature Cocktails

Naming your signature cocktail can be a fun highlight in planning your wedding — or, if you put too much pressure on yourselves to be clever and cute, it can be kind of stressful, says Amy Nichols, owner of Amy Nichols Special Events and cofounder of The Poppy Group. “Brides and grooms want their guests to know they’ve thought of their enjoyment when selecting a signature cocktail,” she explains.

But naming your signature cocktail doesn’t have to be burdensome. With these tips, it’ll be a breeze — and hopefully fun.

1. Start with the bartender.
Who better to help you name your mixed drink than the bartender who’ll serve it up to your guests? Ask him or her what the key ingredients are, how it’s prepared, and how it’s served to spark inspiration, suggests Nichols. “All of that information could give you some ideas for a fun name,” she says.

2. Play up the key ingredient.
Rather than picking any ol’ cocktail, start your search for the right beverage by brainstorming cocktails with ingredients you love, then use those flavors for your name, says Jaclyn Fisher, owner of Two Little Birds Planning in Philadelphia. “Vodka Rosemary Lemonade could be Vodka Rose-Marry Me Lemonade,” she says, “or Spiked Apple Cider could be renamed Apple of My Eye.”

3. Pick a drink with a name that already works for you.
You’ve got enough on your plate to stress over. So rather than spend hours trying to come up with a clever catchphrase, why not let an already delicious drink do the work for you? There’s a beverage called the Blushing Bride that is already fitting for a wedding, Fisher points out, made with champagne, fruit nectar, and grenadine.

4. Take your guests on a trip.
You don’t have to throw a destination wedding to take your guests to a new locale. Use your signature drink as a way to celebrate a city you love, or a time period that intrigues you, Nichols suggests. “Use the influences of your dream locale to help you make the selection of your signature cocktails name,” she says. Of course, if you are throwing a destination fete, you can use your wedding spot as inspiration, too.

5. Be playful and informative.
While you want to surprise and delight your guests with your cocktail’s name, you don’t want to make it such a tongue twister that they’ll have no clue what they’re drinking, warns Fisher. “While drink names should be playful, they should also be descriptive so guests know what they’re drinking,” she says. In addition to placing a sign with the drink’s ingredients at the bar, consider including the main ingredient or alcohol in the cocktail’s name for clarity.

6. Get a little online help.
You may have heard of a hashtag generator. Well, it turns out, these awesome online tools can help name more than your big day. By plugging in key words, such as cities or ingredients, a hashtag generator could come up with a cocktail name you’ll love. “Plus, this will ensure you create something totally unique,” Nichols says.

7. Search the season.
Just as your wedding’s season informed the details of your wedding — your ‘maids won’t be wearing short dresses in the dead of winter — so too can it help you with your signature cocktails. “Signature cocktails and their names should be reflective of the season,” says Fisher. So, for example, “in the summer months, stick with something cool and refreshing like a Moscow Mule, named the Marry Me Mule.”

10 Reasons To Go On a Cape Town Honeymoon

Cape Town Honeymoon

Photo: Getty Images

When it comes to embarking on the ultimate honeymoon, there are a few elements that seem absolutely necessary. A beautiful beach is one; memorable food and drinks are also key. It helps, too, if there’s something exotic to see or do. Cape Town, South Africa, checks all these marks and many others. It’s a clean, modern city — whose summer, remember, is our winter — that is oozing with natural beauty, adventure and creative cuisine. Here, 10 things to keep in mind when planning the romantic getaway of a lifetime.

1. You’ll become obsessed with the practice of “sundowners.”
At some point you’ve probably gone somewhere pretty to have a cocktail and watch the sunset, but here this concept is called sundowners, and it’s taken quite seriously. Sundowners are a ritual that all Cape Town residents adore, and you will too. To confuse things, you don’t necessarily have to be watching that fiery ball of light drop below the horizon for a drink to constitute as a sundowner, but it always helps. Prime spots include the many cafes that line Camps Bay (a hip Malibu-esque beachfront strip) and the sloping grassy lawn at The Roundhouse, where bottles of bubbly make the perfect compliment to the setting sun.

Table Mountain Cape Town

2. Bring your sense of adventure.
Cape Town brings the best of a well-functioning metropolis together with a huge amount of natural beauty, and there are many more adrenaline-producing activities to experience than in your typical city. The massive flat-topped Table Mountain presides over the city, and provides fun in the form of hiking, climbing, abseiling (rappelling) and even hang-gliding from the top. Lion’s Head, it’s peaky counterpart, is a steep climb — complete with chains and a vertical drop at one point — that’s best done at sunrise or sunset, even better if it’s a full moon. If that’s the case, bring a bottle of Champagne to toast as the sun sets and the moon rises simultaneously, a breathtaking sight. And bring a headlamp! There’s also surfing (for those willing to shimmy into a thick wetsuit) and, of course, the fearsome cage diving with great white sharks.

3. There’s a hotel to fit every taste and budget.
The exchange rate between the US Dollar and the South African Rand is currently — and has been for some time — very much in our favor. There are seemingly endless beautiful places to stay in this city, from super high end to incredibly charming B&B guesthouses (check out La Grenadine Petit Hotel and Boutique@10). The proprietors all seem to have an impeccable sense of taste. The One&Only Cape Town is a shining star in the city. Situated right at the buzzing V&am;A Waterfront, with an indulgent spa and gigantic guest rooms on their very own island, it has a prime view of Table Mountain from its elegant bar (also Africa’s only Nobu) and offers one of the more opulent places to honeymoon, not to mention indescribably wonderful beds.

4. Expect to drink lots of wine.
Instead of wine country, South Africa has the Cape Winelands, a bucolic area surrounded by jagged mountains just 45 minutes driving from the city. It’s where much of the country’s amazing wine is grown and made, and has been since the late 1600s when French Huguenots settled in the area. Franschhoek and Stellenbosch (think Napa and Sonoma) are worth a day — or two or three — trip, but in lieu of a journey to their elegant tasting rooms and picturesque restaurants you can also go places like Reuben’s in the city, where the sommelier Musa can enthusiastically walk you through local varietals in their towering glass wine lofts. In South Africa, Syrah and Shiraz are interchangeable — the latter is simply the French spelling — Sauvignon Blanc is a popular white and Pinotage is the country’s very own grape, similar, as expected, to pinot noir.

5. The city is mecca for foodies.
There are not many places in the world you can get a six-course meal with wine pairings for under $100. But the rand makes it possible to have impeccable meal after meal of innovative, exciting food for shockingly low prices. A few of the top spots to nosh include The Test Kitchen (it’s the toughest reservation in the city, so plan way ahead) and its chef Luke Dale-Roberts’ other two eateries Pot Luck Club (where dishes are organized on the menu by things like bitter and umami) and the beautiful new Shortmarket Club. Anywhere on the recently buzzing Bree Street is a pretty safe bet, as are Azure and Aubergine.

6. You can shop ’til you drop.
Cape Town has oodles of homegrown designers, many of whom gather their men’s and women’s denim, apparel, swimwear, jewelry, leather bags, decor and other accessories on Saturdays at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, where the mouthwatering Neighbourgoods Market also pops up for a feast that’s worth making room for. (Stalls offer everything from wood-fired pizza made in a tuk-tuk to paellas, fresh seafood and artisanal open-face sandwiches plus bars and so many desserts.) For traditional South African crafts, check out Greenmarket Square or the long warehouse-style Watershed market at the V&A, which is a little more upscale.

Cape Town Honeymoon Penguins

Photo: Getty Images

7. Penguins. On the beach.
Everyone’s favorite bird is a longtime resident of Boulders Beach, about an hour from Cape Town (Kalk Bay nearby is worth a wander, too). Make the pilgrimage to watch tiny adorable jackass penguins — you’ll understand the name when you hear the donkeylike noises they make — as they preen on the beach, swim in the crashing seafoam waves, attract mates and waddle around in their black and white splendor. It’s an insanely cute spectacle.

8. Plan to indulge in the city’s craft cocktail and artisanal gin scene.
Capetonians know how to have fun. Along with all the delicious eats and local wines available there is a significant craft cocktail scene and burgeoning trend toward artisanal gin distilleries. Orphanage is a dark, scene-y bar where concoctions are imaginative and appropriately intoxicating, and the cocktails at Outrage of Modesty are also impeccably crafted. As for the juniper-based spirit that’s becoming big, there’s the hidden Gin Bar behind Honest Chocolate Cafe, which carries a couple dozen South African gins, and also Mother’s Ruin, a bar dedicated to the liquor. Fun, boozy tastings are also possible at Woodstock Gin Co. (beside the Old Biscuit Mill) and, on a weekly basis, at Hope and Hopkins distillery.

Cape Town Honeymoon Robben Island

Photo: Getty Images

9. Save time for a little local history.
It’s not necessarily romantic, but taking the boat journey to Robben Island to learn about and witness where local hero Nelson Mandela was a political prisoner for 18 years is an important experience. It will give you a greater understanding, context and appreciation for what the nation went through during apartheid.

10. The coffee culture is huge.
It’s not just about intoxicating sips in Cape Town. Caffeine addicts — or even appreciators — will love the city’s hefty coffee scene. The steampunk-styled cafe Truth Coffee is widely recognized as the best on the continent (and for some, the world), and there are countless other sworn-by stops, including Origin, House of Machines, Bootlegger Coffee Company, Haas and Latitude 33.

Queen Elizabeth Was Warned Not to Marry Prince Philip for the Most INSANE Reason

It turns out one of our fave royal couples may have never been a thing. Recent insider reports have surfaced revealing that the young Princess Elizabeth was warned by her royal courtiers not to marry Greece-born Prince Philip back in 1947 for the most absurd reason… his humor! But, as is pretty obvious today, the Queen clearly didn’t listen to instruction and went with her gut — and almost 70 years later with the jokester prince by her side, the rest is history. Take THAT naysayers!

The shocking reports came from the Queen’s biographer, A.N. Wilson, who spoke at the Cheltenham Literature Festival on why the princess was told to avoid Philip at all costs. According to the Telegraph, “She was warned the then naval officer was ‘entirely the wrong person to choose’ and made ‘gaffes.'” But by age 14, Princess Elizabeth was certain that the beautiful blonde prince was “the one” even though her advisers were super concerned about his sense of humor.

The biographer though feels differently. Wilson said at the festival, “Many of his jokes are extremely funny. He has been what she has described [as] a tower of strength. The fact that he makes all these so-called gaffes, well…I don’t think they are gaffes. They are the kind of jokes a naval officer of a certain age might make. I think [they are] made rather wonderfully.”

Guests Soaked Up Ocean Views at This Beachside Florida Wedding

Josy Portella just knew Andrew Yoder was going to pop the question. After all, they were dining at an inn’s intimate restaurant, the perfect spot for a romantic proposal. But the ring wasn’t in the champagne, and it wasn’t baked into the bread either. And when the hostess came to the table, asking if the couple might enjoy a tour of the inn’s renovated rooms before their dessert course, Josy figured she had been wrong. The two walked from room to room until the hostess finally led them to the honeymoon suite, where roses, candles, dessert, and a diamond ring awaited. “I managed to get out, ‘Is this for us?’ just as I saw Andrew go down on one knee,” the bride says. “I was so overwhelmed by emotion that I was speechless. Luckily, our hostess stepped back in with tissues and was the first to congratulate us.”

With such a dreamy proposal, it should come as no surprise that the couple wanted their wedding to ooze romance, too. “We wanted to project the love we have for one another onto our guests and shower them with details that would create an unforgettable weekend,” Josy says of their October 11, 2015, destination wedding in Sarasota, Florida. After months of planning, the pair pulled off an ethereal wedding with nautical touches that played up the beachy locale. Clover and Company directed the day, while Debra Eby and Villetto Photography were there to capture every detail. Soak up the gorgeous views from their seaside ceremony below!

Josy and Andrew invited 85 guests to join them at the Ritz-Carlton Sarasota Beach Club. Their invitations hinted at what was to come using floral and starfish patterns.

Josy’s Romona Keveza Legends wedding dress was made from head-to-toe lace with delicate pearl beading. She added an embellished belt for a bit of bling, while chandelier earrings and a beaded headband completed the look.

Andrew donned a three-piece tan suit for the beachside occasion, which he paired with a light green silk tie. But the groom’s boutonniere was his standout accessory: A starfish was the perfect nod to the couple’s love of all things nautical.

Bridesmaids purchased their dresses from J.Crew in the color dusty shale. Josy allowed her attendants to pick any floor-length style they wanted. Groomsmen wore linen pants and tan vests to complement — but not compete with — Andrew.

Josy’s blush and peach bouquet featured roses, succulents, stock, and seeded eucalyptus, wrapped in an ivory satin ribbon, while her bridesmaids carried similar round bouquets.

The bride and groom held their ceremony on the beach, where a branch arch draped in white fabric and decorated in fresh flowers anchored the sandy space. The aisle was lined with white-washed lanterns, while chairs were adorned with blush satin sashes and nosegays of roses, peonies, and hydrangeas.

To ensure guests could really enjoy the ceremony, the thoughtful couple created a shoe station where friends and family could trade dress shoes for sandals until after the vows.

The couple’s three flower girls wore starfish tiaras and carried nautilus shells that were fashioned with a ribbon handle, making them look like little purses. Each “purse” was filled with rose petals that the girls scattered down the aisle.

As the ceremony, which was perfectly timed with a gorgeous sunset, came to a close, the groom’s cousins sang as the couple was pronounced husband and wife. “The entire crowd took a moment to listen to the beautiful and inspirational song before proceeding out to the reception,” Josy says.

“We picked the Ritz-Carlton Beach Club because it was exactly what we were looking for,” the bride says. “It was on the beach, offered an outdoor terrace for our use, and with the brand comes the knowledge that they can deliver top-notch customer service.” They chose to hold the reception beneath an open-air tent that was draped with blush fabric. From its peaks, the pair chose to hang alternating glass and floral chandeliers. Stunning as they were, there was another design element the couple’s guests couldn’t quite take their eyes off of: A huge floral wall that served as the backdrop to Josy and Andrew’s sweetheart table. The eight-by-eight foot installation was created from white hydrangea and blush and peach roses.

“Visually, the hanging floral chandeliers in the reception were breathtaking,” Josy says. “But the biggest hit of the night was the sweetheart table with the floral boa and flower wall as its backdrop. It was the spot to be for pictures that evening.”

“A mix of long feasting tables, lined with blush and gold metallic tablecloths, were offset by centerpieces of driftwood, candles, and small votives with succulents,” the bride says of the reception décor. Glamorous gold chargers, bud vases packed with fresh blooms, and mercury glass accents tied the entire space together.

The couple’s three-tiered yellow cake was iced with Florida-appropriate key lime mousse and topped with a white citrus ganache, edible sugar flowers cascading down its side.

“Andrew and I took dance lessons before the wedding and our routine was down pat,” Josy says. “But we had failed to account for one minor issue: My dress. While we practiced between the ceremony and reception, we quickly discovered that my bustle was too long and too easy to step on. It wasn’t the prettiest, but we managed to get through our routine and at the end, our wedding party held up scoring paddles with a row of 10’s across the board, much akin to Dancing With the Stars! What a sweet gesture.”

Guests danced the night away as the sun set on the beach. After the wedding, Josy and Andrew took their honeymoon in Italy.

The bride’s best advice to other couples is to forget the favors. “Don’t splurge on a trinket that will just gather dust on a shelf,” she says. “Instead, think about forgoing them all together and budget in extras to the wedding reception itself. Our favors included flip flops to dance with, pashminas for the cool evening breeze, a photo booth with take-home prints, and a beignet bar for all to enjoy.”

Melissa Wood's Lace Wedding Dress Was PERFECTION at Her Wedding to Nightclub Mogul Noah Tepperberg

Melissa Wood Wedding Dress

Photo: Melissa Wood via Instagram

If there’s one thing that Fall 2017 Bridal Fashion Week taught us, it’s that lace won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. The traditional wedding dress fabric is still dominating the runways and wedding aisles after countless decades. Why, you ask? Because, as model and wellness coach Melissa Wood just proved with her stunning frock, there are still countless fresh ways to rock luxe lace. Wood just recently tied the night with famous nightclub owner Noah Tepperberg in a chic and classic wedding at the Plaza Hotel, where the brunette beauty wore a lace bridal gown we’re positively dying over!

What better place for a New York City nightlife mogul to get hitched than an iconic NYC landmark like the Plaza Hotel? According to Page Six, last Sunday, the city’s glitterati — including Paris and Nicky Hilton, Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, Tiesto, NBA star Rony Seikaly, Dylan Lauren, OITNB star Jackie Cruz, Wilmer Valderrama, and Mario Lopez — all headed to the Plaza to witness Wood and Tepperberg say their “I do’s.” The couple was pronounced officially wed under a traditional chuppah covered in lush white blooms with their one-year-old son by their side in a teeny tiny tuxedo. And while we’re obsessed with their little one’s totally adorbs pint-sized suit, it was his mom’s big day ensemble that has swooning.

On her wedding day, Wood donned a beautiful Berta wedding dress in a fitted mermaid silhouette. Featuring feminine lacy fabric, a sweetheart neckline, double spaghetti straps, and a low-cut back, the wedding dress is seriously to die for. And of course, its sultry cut makes it totally party ready! (The woman did just marry a nightclub owner, after all!)

If one thing is sure, Tepperberg knows how to party so it’s no surprise that his wedding reception was a celebration of epic portions. Paris Hilton herself reportedly delivered a toast for the pair, Kygo performed “We Light Up the World” for their first dance, tables were adorned with towering centerpieces, and the venue space even included a graffiti portrait of the newlyweds. Oh, and the after-party went on until five in the morning. Naturally.

How Exactly Do You Pee in a Wedding Dress?

how to pee in wedding dress

Photo: Getty Images

Ah… the age old question of how to pee in a wedding dress. With so many layers of tulle, chiffon, and organza flowing around you (or tight-fitting lace!), it sounds impossible without completely taking off your dress. But between rows of buttons, finicky zippers, and those pesky eye hooks, that doesn’t sound so easy, either. Is there a better way to use the restroom in your wedding dress? We have a few tips from the pros.

The best way to use the restroom in your wedding dress depends first and foremost on the style of your gown. For a modified a-line dress with a looser — but not poufy — skirt, you might be able to head to the ladies’ room solo. Head into the handicap stall for maximum maneuverability, then (while you’re still a good distance away from the toilet) lower your underwear. This is key: It will be much harder to do so once you’ve gathered up your skirt, so slowly waddle toward the toilet, then turn around. Gather your skirt, making sure to get all of the layers, and hold everything above your waist and out in front of you.

Got a few more layers or a fuller skirt, like a full a-line or a ballgown? If you’re not shy, inviting a friend or your mom to help is your best bet. Have them help you lift and gather the layers in front of you and then, with your assistant holding your skirts, back up toward the toilet, lower your underwear, and take a seat. You could also bring in two assistants and have each wrangle one side of your dress so your hands are more free while you’re peeing. Pro tip: Have the faucet running if you’re experiencing performance anxiety! The bonus of having such a full skirt is that, while you’ll be pretty close to your friend, she won’t be able to see anything around all the tulle.

If you have a long train that you don’t think you’ll be able to gather up, try using the toilet backwards! Simply reach down, lift up your skirt from the front (try to grab the innermost layer of lining and use that to gather the outer layers), and approach the toilet facing the wall. By straddling the toilet this way, you’ll keep your train free and clear without having to lift your entire dress. You could also have a bridesmaid come in with you to lift up your train, just in case.

For more form-fitting dresses, during your final fitting, see if you can wiggle the fitted part of your dress up and over your hips, leaving you more mobility and less skirt to deal with. This is a good argument for leaving just a teensy bit of room in the hips — which will make sitting at dinner much easier, too!

And if all else fails, have whoever helped you put your dress on help you take it off in the restroom, then head into the stall in just your underwear before putting your dress back on. This is the most time-consuming option, so you’ll want to time it so you’re not missing anything major! Take time to use the restroom just before the ceremony, at the end of cocktail hour before you sit down for dinner, and after the toasts, both so you’re gone at the least conspicuous moments and so whoever you’ve tapped to help you is still sober enough to keep your dress dry!
