A Drone Accidentally Captured These Two Newlyweds and The Photo is AH-MAZE-ING

Accidental Drone Wedding Photo

They found one another, but now the Internet is on the hunt to find them! When filmmaker Brandon Li sent his drone up over Hong Kong to capture some sunset shots, he ended up shooting something far more romantic — a bride and groom lying on a rooftop, basking in their newlywed bliss. The craziest part of about this just-too-perfect pic? The bride and groom are complete strangers to Li — and now he’s on the hunt to find them!

The photo that would thrill any couple was a complete (albeit lucky) accident for Li, who told BBC, “I was with a friend trying to get a good shot of the sunset but the drone battery was running low so we just pointed it down as it returned home, and I thought we’d just keep the camera rolling.”

“I didn’t notice anything interesting until I went through the footage later and saw this grassy rooftop,” said Li — and the newlyweds smack dab in the center of it! Li posted the photo to Facebook in the hopes that someone there knows the couple. But so far, no such luck.

But we’re holding out hope that these two lucky loves are found. After all, the photo is so perfect in fact, that some are claiming that the snapshot has to be orchestrated, pre-planned pic.”So many people think that I staged the photo,” said Li. “I’m a filmmaker not a wedding photographer so I don’t really have an incentive. It’s really just a lucky catch.”

But even Li doesn’t discover who the newlyweds are, he’s still pleased with the swoon-worthy shot. “You usually see these really cold pictures of Hong Kong looking really crowded and grey and here’s this moment where two people are doing something very good and joyous,” he explained. “It’s like making your own oasis of joy in the city.”

Malia and Sasha Obama Are Going to Be Bridesmaids! Get the Details on the White House Wedding

Malia and Sasha Obama are going to walk down the aisle! No, no — not like that. The first daughters are set to serve as bridesmaids for the upcoming wedding of two former staffers of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Michelle’s former chief of staff, Kristen Jarvis, is set to wed the President’s former secret service agent, Shaun West — they met while working at the White House together! The Daily Mail reports that the couple will marry at one of the four ballrooms in the Bellevue Conference Center in Chantilly, Virginia — just 30 minutes from the political epicenter of Washington, D.C.

However, according to a wedding registry website under the names of the engaged couple (except the groom’s last name is misspelled with two e’s to be “Weest”), which shows them registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Bloomingales, Target, and Williams-Sonoma, they’re getting married in Brooklyn, New York. BUT that could very well be a red herring to throw the eager paparazzi and media off the scent of this sure-to-be-political-A-lister affair. The couple’s wedding website, which is linked to on their registry page, is only able to be accessed with a private pin number.

In addition to Malia, 18, and Sasha, 15, serving as attendants, Michelle is also supposedly set to make an appearance at the November wedding. Jarvis served as FLOTUS’ right-hand woman for more than seven years, and during that time developed a close relationship with the Obama children, particularly Sasha.

When Jarvis, who first started working for the First Family in 2005 when she joined the now president’s Senate office, announced that she had asked the younger Obama daughter to be one of her attendants, she said: “If you know me, you know my love for this chica right here. I’ve known Sasha since she was three years old, and I couldn’t be more proud of the young woman she has become. She has had to endure more than most will in a lifetime, and she has handled life thus far with such grace and humility.” According to The Daily Mail, Jarvis described Sasha as “one of the sweetest and down-right coolest people” she has ever known. “Sasha and I have had a big sister/little sister relationship since the very beginning and there is nothing I wouldn’t do for this girl — and I know she would do the same for me,” she reportedly wrote on her wedding website (guess the DM must have that pin code!).

TMZ reports that Malia was also asked to be a bridesmaid.

We just can’t wait to see what the first daughters’ bridesmaid dresses look like! Regardless of their frocks, we know these first daughters are going to look just absolutely gorgeous.

5 Ways to Turn Unwanted Wedding Gifts into Cash (Yes, You Have Permission)

weddings bands on money

Photo: Getty Images

After your wedding is over and you find yourself taking inventory of all the gifts you’ve received from your guests, you may find that you have a pile of not-from-the-registry items you’d be better off without. They’re valuable gifts, so you don’t want to just toss them or have them go to waste, but it would be perfect if you could somehow trade them in for some cash. Whether or not you have a receipt or know where the item was purchased, here are five ways to turn unwanted wedding gifts into cash (yes, you have our permission).

1. If it has a receipt, return it.
The first thing you should do when you receive a gift you’re not happy with is to find the gift receipt for it. It may be included in the card or attached to the item as a gift receipt — so be careful throwing out the box and packing materials! If you do have a receipt, take the item back to the store and see if you can get cash back or at least a store credit.

2. If it doesn’t have a receipt, google the brand and model.
If there’s no gift receipt to be found, search for the brand name and model of the item to see what stores carry it. Even if you don’t have a receipt, some stores will take back an item if they sell it.

3. Sell it online.
If you can’t find the store it belongs to, your next option is to sell the item online. Sites like Craigslist or Ebay can be an easy way to find a new owner for the gift.

4. Find a bartering site.
If there’s something else of equal value that you’d prefer instead, check out bartering sites and see if you can do an even exchange between your item and another on the website.

5. Use a gift card exchange.
Let’s face it — all gift cards are not created equal., you can go on a gift card exchanged website and exchange the gift card for one from another store that you will use instead.

Kim Kardashian's Stolen Engagement Ring Deserves to Be Eulogized

Kim Kardashian Robbed in Paris

Paris definitely did not live up to its nickname of the City of Love this weekend for Kim Kardashian when she was robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning local time. While visiting France for Paris Fashion Week, five men disguised as police officers broke into the reality star’s luxury residence, after handcuffing the concierge. There, she was held at gunpoint and locked in a bathroom where the thieves stole an estimated $10 million worth of jewelry — including her engagement ring.

Thankfully, Kardashian was left uninjured by the incident. A spokeswoman for the star has released a statement saying that Kardashian was reportedly “badly shaken but physically unharmed.” And according to CNN, she has since fled France. While we’re thankful that Kardashian made it out of the super scary situation unscathed (and that’s what’s important here), we’re totally mourning the loss of her epic engagement ring.

Right before the robbery, Kardashian (unknowingly) took one last selfie with her megawatt rock which she posted in a Snapchat video (see below) and we’re drinking in this final look at its fabulousness. Let’s reflect shall we?

Kim Kardashian Engagement Ring Close Up

Almost three years ago, Kanye West whisked his to-be bride away to the San Francisco AT&T Stadium — which he had completely rented out for the occasion. There, as a live string orchestra played and the giant scoreboard lit up with the words, “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!,” West dropped to one knee and proposed with 15-carat cushion-cut diamond engagement ring.

To this day, Kardashian’s sparkler is (was…) one of our favorite celebrity engagement rings. And isn’t it obvious why? “The ring is flawless. Not just internally flawless, it’s flawless,” a rep for the ring’s designer, Lorraine Schwartz, told E! News back in the day. “It’s a D-stone, the best diamond there is, type 2A. It’s a perfect cushion-cut diamond.” Sitting on a delicate pavé band (because obviously there’s no such thing as too much bling), the bridal bauble is (again, was…) chic, glam, and — oh, yeah — MASSIVE. Seriously, you could’ve ice -kated on that thing.

R.I.P., you dazzling diamond. We will truly miss you.

6 Ways to Make Sure Your Black-Tie Wedding Décor Is Anything But Boring

black tie wedding with color ideas

Photo: Getty Images

Does a black tie wedding bring to mind images of crisp black and white, soft gold, and maybe a little blush for good measure? While this timeless palette isn’t going anywhere, keeping things subdued isn’t your only option! If you’re a couple who loves playful color, but still wants to mark their marriage with a formal celebration, you’re in luck. We spoke to top wedding planners from across the country, and they’ve filled us in on some fun and exciting ways to use vibrant hues and set a black tie dress code. Your inspiration awaits!

Turn to Flowers
“This might seem like an obvious choice, but so many couples equate ‘black tie’ or timelessness with an all-white wedding. That doesn’t have to be the case!” says Gretchen Culver, owner and lead planner of Rocket Science Weddings & Events. “I love using colorful flowers to create a high-end yet inviting wedding.” She uses style and scale to dictate the feel. “Instead of the more natural, organic feel that is so popular right now (but can feel a bit casual), have your designer or florist create arrangements that are more tailored. This will automatically create a sense of formality, no matter what colors you are working with.” Culver also advises using minimal greenery as filler, instead focusing on lots of blooms with a variety of textures in the palette you’ve chosen. Then, place the arrangements on neutral-colored linens to allow the centerpieces to really shine. “Mix in lots of candles and votives, rather than artificial colored light, to keep the look classy. Natural white or candlelight will highlight the colors in the flowers instead of masking or changing them.”

Play with Paper
Don’t want bold hues all over your design? “Keep it more selective by incorporating color into your invitation and day-of paper materials,” advises Jesse Tombs, managing partner of Alison Events. “You can keep it classic by adding a bright edge to thick card stock, or use colorful calligraphy on the outer envelope.” Tombs is also a fan of weaving in metallics. “Silver, gold, copper and bronze are great, more traditional colors that will add some sparkle to a black tie invitation.” You could also weave in natural elements to add an organic hint of color, such as slate, moss, or wood. Culver also recommends mixing in colored paper elements, such as an envelope liner or a colored envelope. “You can keep the wedding invitation traditional, with black letterpress on white paper, but tie it with a colored ribbon and mail it in a coordinating envelope,” she explains. “A little color in the invitation will set the stage for you to incorporate color into your wedding décor.”

Vary the Shades
“One really great way to dress up bright colors is to use a single color in varying shades,” says Jenna Lam of Jenna Lam Events. “For example, we recently designed a wedding at the Parker Palm Springs where we started with bold coral peonies in the centerpieces, then brought in blush and lighter pink roses to keep the overall look sophisticated.” She also added blush to the tablecloths, continuing the nearly monochromatic look. “I also recommend adding metallic accents, like gold Limoges plates and flatware, to keep the look glamorous,” says Lam.

Opt for Soft Hues
Worried that incorporating punchy colors might come across as too playful? You can still add plenty of colors and still stick to soft pastels. “For example, instead of a saturated orange or turmeric color, consider light peach. And instead of electric lemon, turn to a buttery yellow color to add brightness,” Tombs explains. “Softer colors work really great with neutral and organic palettes, and will still pop with black and white color schemes.”

Don’t Forget Rentals!
If you do decide you’d rather stick to that more traditional all-white palette for your flowers, Tombs suggests getting creative with the vessels. “You could ask your florist to incorporate colorful vases, or surround the white arrangements with colored candles. You can get taper candles in every color under the sun — and at a great price. It’s an inexpensive way to add your favorite hue and a beautiful glow.”

Dress the Part
“An instant way to add a pop of color without losing the formality of your event is to dress your bridesmaids in floor-length formal gowns in a vibrant color,” says Culver. “Choose a fabric and silhouette that will feel inherently black tie appropriate, and accent the men in a matching color as well.” She advises sticking to a classic black bowtie, then tucking a colorful pocket square into their tuxedo jackets for a hint of color that isn’t over the top. “And if you’re feeling fun, have them wear colorful socks, too!”

Blake Lively Stuns As a Wedding Guest Just Days After Giving Birth

Leave it to Blake Lively to be the most dedicated friend — going from the maternity ward to a wedding in mere days! The Gossip Girl star made for a picture perfect (and Instagram-savvy) wedding guest this weekend, only a few days after leaving the hospital with the birth of her second baby with husband Ryan Reynolds.

Just days after welcoming baby number two, whose name and sex has yet to be released, Lively made for an epic wedding guest at her best friend’s wedding this weekend at New York City’s Tribeca Rooftop. Mrs. Reynolds took to Instagram to share photos from her friend’s happy day and we all collectively sighed with the sweet outpouring of marital congrats Lively had for her BFF.

“Most beautiful bride on the planet. And the best friend I could ask for. @jessicarose617 thank you for being EVERYTHING. I love you,” The Shallows actress shared with her Instagram followers.

In the sweet snap, Lively can be seen planting a kiss on best friend Jessica Snyder. The actress was demure and understated (letting her BFF shine on her big day) in a navy blue dress and heels by Christian Louboutin, while the bride glowed in a sparkling Marchesa gown, accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira jewels.

Another post to Lively’s Instagram showed a detail version of the bride’s look and we couldn’t help but swoon over all that bling — from the bejeweled details of her incredible Marchesa wedding gown, to the breathtaking Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring, Ofira diamond band, and even a hint of bling on the bride’s diamond encrusted manicure. Not to mention the gorgeous cascading bouquet in shades of white and pink.

These two ladies must be long time best friends for the Cafe Society star to attend her wedding just days after leaving the hospital with baby number two! But where was the proud daddy? We like to imagine Ryan Reynolds is home being super dad to his adorable kids while he lets his gorgeous wife have a night out on the town. Now that’s a dedicated husband and dad! Either way we know Lively loves weddings just as much as we do so we couldn’t be happier to see her out and about enjoying her BFF’s big day. The new mom of two must have called it a night early, we totally understand, after a quick search of the couple’s wedding hashtag, there were no signs that the new mom enjoyed the party into the wee hours.

5 Edgy Eye Makeup Looks Perfect for the Bachelorette Party

Fashion-forward, graphic eyeliner probably isn’t the romantic look you have in mind for your wedding day, but it’s the perfect bold look for your bachelorette party. We asked five makeup artists to weigh in with their favorite sexy, standout eye looks to complete your girls’ night out style.

Mixed Metals
For a night of dancing, makeup artist Christina Chen says you can’t go wrong with a metallic smoky eye. Start by drawing a thick line of black eyeliner all around the eyes then smudge so it fades out on the edges. Pat a metallic eyeshadow on top of the black on the center/front part of the eyelid to give it a nice pop. Blend the edges with a softer brown hue. “You can add a dab of glitter on the inner corner of the eyes, or use a little clear gloss on the outer bottom edge of the eye to give a ‘fireworks’ effect,” says Chen.

Go Graphic
“I think a graphic liner look for a bachelorette party would be really fun,” says Jessika Bekteshi, a makeup artist based in New York City. “I like using felt tip liquid liners like Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. They have some beautiful colors. I also really love gel liners sharpened to a fine point so I can draw shapes. Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Eyeliner has some great bold bright colors perfect for a night out.”

Bold and Blue
Get playful for your girls’ night out with a look that screams mermaid-meets-cat-eye. For the bold, blue style, makeup artist Kate McCarthy suggests applying a silvery base shade, like the one found in Osmosis Colour’s Misty Blue Eye Shadow Trio, to your lids. Next, use a contour shadow brush to apply a deeper grey hue to your crease, like the mid-tone shade in the Misty Blue shadow trio. Line the upper lash line with Osmosis Colour Navy Eye Pencil, using an eye liner brush to wing it out. Using a smudge brush and Osmosis Colour Azure Water Color, add a pop of teal to your liner by lightly pressing the color into your upper lash line. Next, take a clean smudge brush and Osmosis Topaz Water Color to line your lower lash line. The opposing shades will add dimension and really make your eyes pop. Finish off the look with Osmosis Volumizing Mascara and voila!

Smoke Signals
Your bachelorette party is not the time to be shy, go big on glam with a full smoky eye. Makeup artist Ashlee Glazer, who frequently works with Pucker Makeup Studio and Dreamdry in New York City, suggests using a creamy black pencil, like L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeliner in Black Noir, to line the inner waterline and a thick line above the eye. “Take a puffy blending brush and buff all over the lid,” she says. “Try a colored metallic eyeshadow in a cranberry or sapphire for fall. Wet the shadow brush with a dab of water for more impact and press the color on the eyeball for a fun pop of color, a la Gigi Hadid or Emily Ratajkowski. Pro tip: The more you press, the more pigment you will get on the lid.

Give It Some Glitter
Glitter is coming back to beauty in a major way, but this isn’t the same look you rocked in middle school. Los Angeles-based makeup artist Denise Weston suggests giving your cat eye a dose of glitz for a more dramatic eye look on your night out. Draw your cat eye with a black liquid or gel liner the way you normally would, then layer it with a glitter liner on the top lid only to make your eyes pop. “You also want to apply black liner to the waterline inside your eye to the top and bottom lashes to increase it its smokiness,” she says. Add a set of faux lashes for a bombshell finish.

Pre-Wedding Alternative Beauty Practices Every Bride-to-be Needs to Know About

Pre-Wedding Beauty Why Meditation Is Beneficial

Photo: Getty Images

Until you’re a bride in the throes of planning a wedding you can never understand the unique blend of anticipation, anxiety and, more than anything, stress. Will it all go as planned? What’s the worst-case scenario? What if I don’t fit into the dress? There might be nightmares and waking daydreams. Consistent exercise is one way to combat the butterflies, and yoga is a wonderful practice to help soothe and calm the mind and nerves, while improving one’s posture for that strapless gown. In addition to those more run-of-the-mill coping mechanisms are some alternative, in some cases New Age-y, practices worth considering — like meditation.

Meditation might already be in the wheelhouse of more tapped-in brides, and it’s a good idea for everybody. There’s nothing better for your wellbeing than quieting the mind and clearing away all the clutter. There are countless apps that guide the user through quick or longer meditations, and many major cities now have chic studios aimed at doing the same—check out the wide-ranging classes at MNDFL in New York’s Greenwich Village, or Unplug in Brentwood (LA). Unplug is also where you can find Scott Schwenk, a healer and breath work guru whose sessions in the latter practice can be game-changing. The breathing exercises done in his classes, lying on a cushion in a dark room, are quite rigorous, but worth the work. You may feel a tingling, vibrating sensation take over your body (and sometimes tears), and a release like you’ve never known. Increased energy is also a side effect—a benefit for worn-down brides!

A spa day with a massage is always a treat leading up to the big day, but the effects often feel too short-lived. Yamuna Body Rolling is a holistic method employing rubber balls in varying sizes that has practitioners across the country. It’s like a light workout and massage in one—the balls stimulates and create space around the joints and specific muscles. Not only does it feel amazing (and only occasionally uncomfortable, where there’s lots of tension) but it’s known to elongate the body, increase muscle tone, improve alignment (again with the posture!) and for some has decreased the appearance of cellulite.

See More: De-Stress Before Your Big Day: 10 Ideas from Real Brides

Another technique that can assist in smoothing cellulite—and what bride-to-be doesn’t want that?!—is consistent use of a cryosauna, a chamber that is cooled with liquid nitrogen to negative 250 degrees fahrenheit, with a completely nude person inside (except for socks and gloves). The frigid yet quick (2-3 minutes) experience can reduce inflammation, anxiety and headaches, and boost energy and improve sleep. Instead of freezing, one can also float to deeply relax, relieve stress and pain, and increase endorphins.

Sensory deprivation float tanks (like those at Pause in Venice, CA) give you an hour of complete quiet while you float nude in a darkened pod filled with super salty water, an environment that causes the brain to give out alpha waves that promote relaxation and meditation. Finally, there’s simple female camaraderie. In Venice, doula Paula Mallis hosts new moon and full moon circles on a regular basis. At them, chic, conscious women sit in a circle and discuss the coming stage of the moon and talk intention-setting and manifestation. There could be revelations, tears or laughter along with the good old-fashioned girl talk, and that’s practically guaranteed to relieve a little stress.

Do We Need to Give a Gift to the Rehearsal Dinner Hosts?

Ways to Make Rehearsal Dinner Special

Photo: Gia Canali

Gifting before a wedding comes with a lot of opinions. Do you bring a gift to every event, or pick and choose a few, saving the main gift for the couple’s wedding day? And then, of course, there’s the rehearsal dinner: An event hosted in the couple’s honor, most often by the parents of the groom. You’re not expected to bring a gift to the couple at this event, but what about for the hosts themselves? Our experts weigh in on whether you should bring a gift for the hosts of the rehearsal dinner.

While it’s quite common for the bride and groom to bring gifts to the rehearsal dinner (which they’ll distribute to their parents and their wedding party), it’s unusual to see guests arrive with a gift in hand, as well. Pre-wedding events are focused on the bride and groom, and since this event isn’t one that usually requires a gift for the happy couple, most people don’t even consider bringing something to thank the hosts for their hospitality, and doing so definitely isn’t required.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with a little host or hostess gift as a symbol of your appreciation. The hosts are, of course, generously paying for a celebration in honor of the couple, and have invited others to join them (whether it’s just the wedding party, out-of-town guests, or everyone who is invited to the wedding). You could keep it simple with a card, or opt for something that you might bring as a hostess gift to someone’s home, like a bottle of wine, chocolates, or a pretty candle. Keep the gift on the small side, especially if you’re at a destination wedding: The hosts will need to be able to bring it home, after all!

Though gifting is not required, make sure you take a moment at some point in the evening to introduce yourself (if you don’t know the groom’s parents already!) and thank the hosts for inviting you to join in the pre-wedding celebration.
