Donald Trump may be a lot of things, but we never thought that ‘bad wedding gift giver’ would be one of them! (Dude is a bazillionaire, after all.) But Trump’s major gift faux pas has lost him at least one presidential vote — from Charlie Sheen! The former Two and a Half Men actor recently stopped by the U.K.’s The Graham Norton Show, where he revealed that he’s “not a fan” of the Republican presidential nominee, not for political reasons, but for Trump’s embarrassing wedding present fail.
Based on his wedding gift giving skills, Charlie Sheen doesn’t think Republican nominee Donald Trump is fit to be president. (Didn’t you hear that running a country and expert wedding etiquette execution are pretty much the same thing?) When asked what he thinks of Trump during his talk show appearance, Sheen — who is infamous in his own right — explained why he’s not getting his vote, a reason stemming from an interaction the pair shared years ago.
“I was at a dinner with my ex-wife Brooke [Mueller] and her family and this and that, and about halfway through I noticed Donald staring at my watch. ” Sheen recalled, according to The Daily Beast. “And so he started saying, ‘Listen… I’m sorry that I can’t make your wedding,’ and I was [thinking], I didn’t invite you.” Okay, that’s awkward to begin with, but what happens next has us cringing…
“So he says, ‘But I want to give you an early wedding gift as a gesture from me and Melania… These are platinum diamond Harry Winston,’ and he pulls off his cufflinks and he gives them to me,” he continued. “And so I’m like, ‘Oh gosh, Mr. Trump, you really shouldn’t do this,’ and he goes, ‘No, no, it’s the least I can do.'” Umm, a wedding regift is usually no bueno, but hey, even we wouldn’t say no to some Harry Winston diamonds!

Sheen ended up accepting the fancy schmancy cufflinks, but that wedding gift faux pas courtesy of Trump worsened with a surprising reveal a few months down the line. Sheen went to have some jewelry — including those cufflinks from Trump — appraised.
The appraiser “spent about four seconds” looking at the cufflinks, according to Sheen, “and kind of recoiled from it… So [the appraiser] says, ‘In their finest moment, these are cheap pewter and bad zirconias.’ And they’re stamped ‘Trump.'” And Sheen was definitely not happy with the news. “I just thought, ‘What does this really say about the man? That he said this is a great wedding gift, and it’s just a bag of dogs***?'”
Wedding gifts don’t have to be expensive of course, only thoughtful. (Ahem, which usually doesn’t mean your castoffs at the dinner table…) Sorry Trump, but it doesn’t look like you’ll be winning the best wedding guest title anytime soon!
