Tone It Up trainers, and Instagram sensations, Karena and Katrina have always been dedicated to whipping women into swimsuit shape while still having fun and enjoying life, and they are taking their love of fitness and nutrition into the bridal world.

The Wedding Program, the latest addition to the Tone It Up series, is a 4-week meal plan and collection of customized workouts to help get brides, bridesmaids, and mothers of the bride into wedding shape, as well as wedding tips and advice on topics like stress management and being the perfect bridesmaid.

The inspiration for this new bridal fitness program? Their own weddings! Karena’ said “I do” to Bobby Gold in Hawaii just last month while Katrina married her husband, Brian Scott, in Malibu, California in 2013. We caught up with Karena to discuss how to achieve the dream body while planning your wedding.

When should brides start working on their pre-wedding fitness plan?
“In our Wedding Program, we start making changes three months ahead. You don’t want to be overwhelmed while planning your wedding, so starting early and making smaller changes to your fitness and nutrition routine will help prepare you for your big day without the stress. “

What specific areas should brides focus on toning to best compliment their wedding dress?
“It’s important to work your entire body to build strength and avoid injury, but you can focus on specific areas depending on the type of dress you’re wearing. For example, if you’re wearing a halter dress, you can add in extra arm and shoulder workouts! Or if you’re wearing a strapless dress, adding in pull-ups and pushups can help smooth out the under arm area!”

What is the ideal diet to adopt once you’ve reached your goal weight and want to maintain it until your wedding day?
“In my own lifestyle, I keep it lean, clean, and green for my meals, which is one of the main components of our Tone It Up Nutrition Plan. Eating this way helps you maintain your weight and increase your energy levels while giving you beautiful skin and hair for your big day. On the flip side, we also have a 7 Day Slim Down that we use before events or shooting workouts. It’s a one week meal plan to totally de-bloat your entire body!”

Are their foods that brides should be avoiding leading up to their wedding?
“Yes! Ridding your diet of refined sugars and grains will help you reach your fitness goals MUCH faster. Plus, removing these items will give you better skin and hair for your big day. Wedding cake testing is okay, obviously!”

How do brides who are already dedicated to working out change up their routine to see more results?
“My routine stayed pretty similar but I upped the intensity and frequency of my workouts. I went to more hot yoga classes, worked on fine toning with Tone It Up workouts and added in more and longer walks and runs on the strand and beach.”

What’s the most important thing about getting ready for your big day?
“It’s so important to make sure that throughout your wedding planning process you stay connected with your “hunny”! Get them involved with your active lifestyle. Go on a walk after dinner together or spend Sunday night meal prepping with romantic music in the background. Remember the reason why you’re getting married in the first place and your wedding day will be that much more special!”
