One major perk of planning a destination wedding and honeymoon in the Caribbean in the off-season is beating the crowds — meaning more beach chairs for you and better hotel deals for you and your wedding guests.
Best Deals
If you’ve been eying a certain luxe suite, you’ll find more availability (at a lower rate) during the low-season months between September and December. Shoulder season is not only a great time to snag hotel deals, it’s also when you’ll find lower airfare, making your destination wedding or honeymoon even more valuable. Sandals Resorts, for example, offers great deals dedicated to fall weddings and even the chance to do a honeymoon “Sneak Peek” trip during the fall.
Sunny Skies & Clear Nights
One of the reasons the Caribbean is ideal during the fall and winter months, is because it’s perfect for hosting an al fresco event. While there’s a possibility of afternoon showers or “liquid sunshine” as they call it in the Caribbean, mornings and evenings are typically cooler and clear, making for an ideal wedding set-up (or brunch wedding!).
Dream Date Availability
The Caribbean off-season also just so happens to fall when wedding and honeymoon season is not in full swing during the spring months. While other brides and grooms are vying for their dream date in June at a spot back home, your search will be a lot more worry free, as the calendar is a bit more open for looking to the Caribbean for your destination wedding or honeymoon.
Sunset Ceremonies
The warmth of the Caribbean islands peaks at midday, but just around sunset is the magic hour when the lighting is romantic and the temperature tapers off, making it prime time for the perfect outdoor ceremony or photo shoot. And if you need a ‘Plan B’, make sure your resort also has a number of picturesque indoor and outdoor venues to choose from for your ceremony and reception.
