This Woman Chose Her Dog Over Marriage — for the BEST Reason

If you had to choose between your beloved dog and your, well, beloved, who would you pick? This is a situation where it’s easier said than done, but for one particular woman from India that decision was made easy when a man she was arranged to marry forbade her from keeping her pup.

According to BuzzFeed, Karishma Walia’s family had been in the process of arranging her marriage with a “good-looking and well-off” man from New Delhi. But when the issue of Walia’s dog, Lucy, came up, she simply refused to abandon her pet for a man who couldn’t compromise. And when we say man, we say that veeeryyyy loosely. You’ll see why…

“He would say things like ‘family should be a priority and not career.’ I gave up when he commented about my dog,” Walia told BuzzFeed. “I don’t know why my family still thinks he’s an eligible bachelor.”

Amen sista!

In a series of texts exchanged between said “eligible bachelor” and Walia, it appears as though he becomes irate when she won’t choose him over her lovable pooch (Which, TBH, is SO much more lovable than him in these messages). He writes, “I don’t want a dog to come in between my love life and not share the same bed… That’s for sure… And my mom doesn’t like dogs in general…” If that wasn’t reason enough to run, just wait until what comes next.

Defending her position to keep Lucy and stay single, Walia texts back saying, “Yes I’m sure. Having a dog is definitely not a temporary phase. I can’t abandon my dog for anyone.” To which he (arrogantly, as she points out) replies with a zinger, “I am sorry to say this. But please marry the dog in that case.”

At this point, we’re sure that’d be the better option!
