We love the look of Lucite (check out these amazing escort-card ideas), it’s modern, minimal, and totally chic. If you’re looking to add a unique element to your reception tables, consider incorporating Lucite menus into your tabletop — it’s elegant, design-forward, and completely unexpected. Here are six creative ways to do it.

Lucite Signature Cocktail Menu (above): If you’re serving a signature drink during cocktail hour, highlight it by handwriting the recipe on a clear sheet of Lucite.

Lucite Menu at Each Place Setting: A calligraphed dinner menu at each place setting looks elegant and chic (and can we talk about that gilded rock-slab charger?).

Frosted Lucite Menu: This modern Lucite menu was engraved with dinner details and sandblasted to give it a frosted look.

Watercolor Acrylic Menu: The dinner descriptions are printed on the front of this acrylic menu in white ink, while the back is printed with a full-color watercolor floral design. To finish it off, the edges were laser cut to resemble the shape of a vintage frame.

Gold Ink on Acrylic: Hand-letter the dinner menu onto a sheet of Lucite for a boho-meets-glam look.

Hanging Lucite Menu: Instead of displaying your menu sign on the table, you could suspend it overhead using monofilament.

This Bride Performed CPR On a Complete Stranger — On Her Wedding Day

It’s almost impossible to anticipate what exactly will go down on your wedding day. We’ve seen situations range from the ring bearer misplacing the wedding bands, or the officiant running hours late. And one situation a bride from Pittsburgh most definitely didn’t see coming? Having to perform CPR on a complete stranger — in her wedding dress, no less.

Right after she said her “I do’s,” Julie Stroyne Nixon headed to the hotel where her reception was taking place to check in with her wedding party. As she began to cross the street, she heard someone scream, “Does anyone know CPR? Is anyone a doctor?” ABC News reported. What the bride saw as she got closer to the scene was a woman on a bench right outside of the hotel, struggling to breathe.

“My nursing instincts just took over,” Nixon, a trauma nurse at UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, told the news website. “To be honest I don’t remember running. I just threw my purse and my flowers and just went into action.” Eeeek, not the expensive bouquet!

On a day that was supposed to be all about her and her new husband, this selfless bride ended up saving a life — and in her wedding dress, no less! Thankfully, she was able to resuscitate the unresponsive woman before EMT and ambulance workers showed up to the scene, and described the frenzy by saying, “Somebody told me she didn’t have a pulse so I jumped into action and started doing compressions. It got stronger as I kept feeling for it which was a good sign. Her respirations were very shallow, but I think the action of me giving compressions kind of woke her up.”

The newlyweds haven’t gotten word on whether or not the woman Nixon performed CPR on is OK, but she’s just glad she could do her part to help. For now, the tennis-enthusiasts are off to Wimbledon next week for their honeymoon before heading over to Greece for a sun-soaked vacay. Which, TBH, is so well deserved.

Everything You Need to Know Before Throwing an All-White Wedding

White bridesmaids dresses

Photo: Kate Headley

It’s been popular lately to assign a color theme to a wedding, and ask your guests to dress in the color of your choice. “White weddings,” where everybody (wedding party and guests) wears white, are also trendy, especially in tropical destinations. My clients who have had color-themed weddings all said they did it for the monochrome pictures, which they’ve seen featured everywhere and loved.

However, there are some realities to a “white wedding” that should not be overlooked by the bride and groom when they do their planning.

First and foremost, you need to make sure that all of the guests understand what the attire is. It’s never safe to assume anything for a wedding. Especially when you’re asking literally everyone to break with etiquette and wear the bride’s color of the day to her wedding. While traditionally, putting “formal” or “semi-formal” on the invitation is sufficient guidance, you have to take it a step further when you’re telling your guests what color you want them to wear.

If your invitation is non-traditional and includes a lot of information about your wedding, you should definitely include it there. You can phrase it one of the following ways:

The bride and groom request that all guests wear white attire to their wedding ceremony and reception.

It’s a White Wedding — Please embrace the theme and wear something white!

Reality Check: No matter how well you explain your “white wedding” theme to your family and guests, not everybody is going to wear all white. In fact, the vast majority of your gentlemen guests will wear khaki pants and a white shirt. And most likely no man outside the wedding party will have white shoes, unless you encourage them to wear sneakers. “White only” becomes white-from-the-waist-up to most of the men. Those who are willing to wear white pants probably already own some, and will rock them with their white shoes.

If you’re having an outside, sunset wedding, beware of see-through fabrics! You won’t want dress your groomsmen in linen pants that become see through, for example, and make sure bridesmaids’ dresses are lined. While a cool linen shift may be exactly the look you’re going for, be certain the dress is ALL the guests will be seeing during the ceremony. Make sure to remind your entire wedding party to wear only white or nude undergarments so nothing shows under the lights during pictures.

Lastly, don’t get upset if some of your guests forget the dress code. Don’t be surprised if some guests are wearing white with a pattern (if they’ve got a clue, they’ll make a point to step out of some of your formal group photos so the color theme isn’t ruined). Don’t be disappointed, or annoyed, to see men not wearing white pants and shoes. When a wedding isn’t black tie, most men don’t see the need to purchase a new outfit they’ll literally never wear again for one day. Expect (and hope for) bright white shirts and you’ll be pleasantly surprised if everybody remembers.

Perks of Having an Off-Season Caribbean Wedding and Honeymoon

sandals-caribbean-off-season.jpg

Photo: Getty Images

One major perk of planning a destination wedding and honeymoon in the Caribbean in the off-season is beating the crowds — meaning more beach chairs for you and better hotel deals for you and your wedding guests.

Best Deals
If you’ve been eying a certain luxe suite, you’ll find more availability (at a lower rate) during the low-season months between September and December. Shoulder season is not only a great time to snag hotel deals, it’s also when you’ll find lower airfare, making your destination wedding or honeymoon even more valuable. Sandals Resorts, for example, offers great deals dedicated to fall weddings and even the chance to do a honeymoon “Sneak Peek” trip during the fall.

Sunny Skies & Clear Nights
One of the reasons the Caribbean is ideal during the fall and winter months, is because it’s perfect for hosting an al fresco event. While there’s a possibility of afternoon showers or “liquid sunshine” as they call it in the Caribbean, mornings and evenings are typically cooler and clear, making for an ideal wedding set-up (or brunch wedding!).

Dream Date Availability
The Caribbean off-season also just so happens to fall when wedding and honeymoon season is not in full swing during the spring months. While other brides and grooms are vying for their dream date in June at a spot back home, your search will be a lot more worry free, as the calendar is a bit more open for looking to the Caribbean for your destination wedding or honeymoon.

Sunset Ceremonies
The warmth of the Caribbean islands peaks at midday, but just around sunset is the magic hour when the lighting is romantic and the temperature tapers off, making it prime time for the perfect outdoor ceremony or photo shoot. And if you need a ‘Plan B’, make sure your resort also has a number of picturesque indoor and outdoor venues to choose from for your ceremony and reception.

Blake Lively Reveals How She Knew Ryan Reynolds Was 'The One'

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds on Red Carpet

If Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds aren’t your #MarriageGoals by now, you have to be crazy for resisting falling in love with these two. But this might be just enough to change your mind! Hollywood’s dream couple is always making us swoon with the too-sweet things they have to say about one another. And the way they look at each other… And the way they… Well, you get the picture. But Lively’s latest romantic reveal has us picking ourselves off the floor. The movie goddess just divulged how she knew that her hubby was ‘the one,’ and guys? We.Can’t.Even.

lively gif

In Marie Claire‘s July issue, Lively spilled all about their little one that she and Reynolds have thus far kept hidden away from our prying eyes. “[She] looked like his doppelgänger for the first six months,” Lively said of baby James, noting that now, “she has my clammy hands! And my heavy eyelids, my meaty eyelids.”

lively gif

We of course have yet to see a photo of their little one’s face, but according to Lively’s description, the tot shares a mix of her mom and dad’s features so odds are, their little girl is gorgeous. With Barbie and Ken lookalikes as parents, how could she not be?! Meanwhile, these two beautiful people are in the midst of cooking up another probably just-as-beautiful baby, as Lively is currently pregnant with Baby No.2. But how did this soon-to-be family of four get it’s start? Well, Lively also recalled how she knew that she wanted to marry her hunky hubby and it just sent our hearts all aflutter.

“I knew he would always be my best friend for my whole life,” the actress explained. “That was the biggest thing to me. I’d never known anything like the friendship that I had with him. I could like him as much as I loved him.” Ugh! Could you just?!

lively gif

According to Lively, her love and her family are her number one priorities. “All my eggs are in one basket, and that’s my family. That’s where my heart is. That’s where my everything is… That’s the thing that I feel most protective of and the thing that I feel is the most exposed when I feel exploited.” Lively, you’re making us melt with these too-cute quotes!

This Chic Pair Hosted the Very First Wedding at One of Charleston's Prettiest Venues

Lara Alexander and Drew Courtney’s relationship started purely as a friendship — the pair met as undergrads at the University of Virginia, where both played varsity tennis. Once Lara graduated and was living in New York, she returned to their college campus to celebrate Drew’s birthday with him. “I guess you can say the rest is history,” she says. In January of 2015, Drew decided to take their relationship to the next level by visiting Lara’s family with her in London. “He proposed right on the doorstep of my family home. We spent the whole day together in London on a perfect bright, crispy day.”

The duo decided on an indoor-outdoor ceremony and reception at Cannon Green in Charleston, South Carolina, on September 26, 2015, giving themselves eight months to plan the simple but elegant celebration they had in mind. With the help of Megan Chandler at Ooh! Events, this couple pulled off the wedding of their dreams — even when the bride had an ocean between her and her venue. “The hardest part was having to plan partly from overseas,” Lara says. “In the early stages of planning I was in the UK and Drew and Megan were in the states, but from start to finish Megan and the whole Ooh! Events team were extremely thorough, professional, and beyond helpful.”

Read on to see how their day came together, as photographed by Amy Arrington Photography.

Lara and Drew were the very first couple to get married at Cannon Green, one of Charleston‘s newest wedding venues. In addition to loving the idea of being the first bride and groom to exchange vows in the space, the couple also fell hard for everything the property offered. “It was exactly what we were looking for décor wise, and the courtyard we used for the ceremony and Trolley room we picked for the reception both felt very inviting and intimate,” says the bride.

They decided on a black tie celebration in the late afternoon, with their ceremony kicking off at 4:30 pm. It was important to Lara and Drew that their day feel both simple and elegant, meaning they skipped over-the-top decorations and unnecessary décor in favor of elements that really spoke to their style. Says Lara, “We wanted people to be blow away in a subtle but understated way. Although our wedding was black tie, we didn’t want the evening to feel stuffy.”

Just like she was the first bride to wed at her venue, Lara was also the first (and only!) lucky lady to don this Mira Zwillinger wedding dress. “I got a custom design which made it very special and unique,” the bride says. “I chose the front of one dress and the back of another. In my mind I had a vision of what I wanted and once I tried it on, I just felt like it was made for me.”

The top half of her delicate A-line style was made of white and ivory lace flowers that were assembled on sheer silk tulle and finished with hand-beaded sequin details. The hand-pleated chiffon skirt offered a breezy balance to the more ornate bodice.

Lara accessorized with a pair of pearl and diamond earrings and a sapphire and diamond bracelet borrowed from her mother. “I didn’t want my jewelry to take away from the beading of the dress,” she says.

For her bouquet, the bride asked for deeper fall shades, resulting in a mix of garden roses, antique hydrangea, anemones, garden roses, eucalyptus, Queen Anne’s lace, dahlias, lisianthus, and ranunculus in shades of white and purple with touches of pink.

Drew was every bit the dapper groom in his notch lapel Ike Behar tuxedo, which was paired with an ivory ranunculus and rosemary boutonniere.

Since the bride and groom planned a celebration with a largely neutral color palette, Lara decided to go bold when it came to her bridesmaids’ dresses. The winner was a flowy fuchsia chiffon style from Amsale, which popped against the décor and also helped to tie in the pink hues in the flowers.

Each ‘maid carried a bouquet that was slightly different, but all containing a mix of garden roses, hydrangea, scabiosa, ranunculus, cotton, wax flower, and tallow berry in shades of white and blush.

Drew’s groomsmen wore their own tuxedos but coordinated in matching Brooks Brothers shirts.

Lara and Drew loved the idea of exchanging vows in Cannon Green’s walled courtyard. “It’s flanked by two reflecting pools and palmetto trees, so it feels very Charleston,” the bride says. “A few highlights of the space were the lush greenery, green wall, and the arbor.” The pair decidsed they’d exchange their vows beneath the arbor that already existed on the property, adding just greenery and a few protea and hydrangeas to really make the structure pop.

Once Lara’s father walked her down the aisle, she and Drew exchanged short yet meaningful vows. After the newlyweds shared their first kiss, a string duo performed “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles.

During the outdoor cocktail hour, guests could lounge on comfortable — and chic! — furniture while sipping on tasty cocktails and enjoying bruschetta, fried green tomatoes, a full raw bar, tacos, sliders, and grilled summer squash. “The food at Cannon Green is top notch,” says the self-proclaimed foodie bride. “It was important to us that we had really good food; we wanted recognizable food that people wanted to eat.”

In between sips and snacks, guests had the opportunity to leave a message in the couple’s unique guest book: A copy of the book Very Charleston.

The couple’s reception was held in Cannon’s Greens Trolley Room, which the couple loved for it’s vaulted ceilings, original exposed trusses, hardwood floors, and glass doors overlooking the courtyard. “It gave the space a rustic, clean, simple feel,” Lara says. Tall fluted glass cylinders were filled with hydrangeas, garden roses, spray roses, dahlias, ranunculus, wax flower, and eucalyptus for a lush look that complemented the high ceilings.

On other tables, low glass compotes held mixes of similar blooms with berries for extra texture. “One of the coolest aspects of our lighting for the reception were three hanging glass boards that held candles in large hurricanes,” the bride says.

More lounge furniture ensured everyone would be comfortable throughout the party.

After dinner, the couple cut into their three-tier caramel, chocolate chip, and coconut wedding cake. The sweets didn’t end there, though: Lara and Drew also served his-and-hers ice cream flavors. The groom picked bourbon caramel while his bride selected peanut butter.

The couple and their guests had a blast during the reception, but Lara and Drew’s favorite memory was being pulled up on stage by their band, Rivertown. “We had no idea this was going to happen!” Lara says. “They gave us the option of performing two songs or designating two guests to do it, but Drew said, ‘We’re doing it.’ So we proceeded to stay up on stage and sang Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and Bon Jovi’s ‘Living on a Prayer.’ All I can say is I felt like a rock star up there.”

The newlyweds, who honeymooned in Turks and Caicos, left the reception in a black London taxi, a nod to the bride’s British roots. “Don’t sweat the small stuff,” Lara reminds future brides. “This aspect of the planning process was hard for me to come to grips with because I’m a perfectionist, but once I put everything in perspective, it all fell into place and was unforgettable.”

Do We Have to Have a Hashtag for Our Wedding?

Whether you want to admit it or not, there’s a pretty good chance pictures of your wedding will end up on social media. Sure, you can ask guests to put the phones and cameras away during your ceremony, but once the party starts, you can’t really keep them from taking pictures of one another in formalwear — or of your gorgeous decorations! So the question is, with all this coverage that’s happening no matter what, do you have to have a wedding hashtag? Our experts weigh in.

Even if you’re not the most social media-savvy person, there’s no denying the appeal of a wedding hashtag. “Using hashtags on social media has become ingrained in the way we socialize,” says wedding industry expert Melissa Fancy. “And since it’s part of your everyday life, you should embrace it at your wedding. It’s a great way for you and your guests to interact with each other before, during, and after your wedding.” Whether it’s the pictures you post from your cake tasting or your guests’ early-morning coffee run on the way to the airport, a hashtag is what will keep all of those little moments together, organized, and totally accessible. Another benefit? It’s a great way to personalize your wedding even more. “Include your hashtag on the save the date and your wedding website, and print out a few signs to display throughout your reception,” Fancy explains.

Whether the two of you will personally use the hashtag or not, it’s something you’ll want to create yourselves instead of letting guests create a hashtag of their own as your wedding approaches: You’ll have control over what the hashtag says, and spreading the word yourselves will make sure all your guests are using the same one. “I always suggest keeping the hashtag simple. Use words people are familiar with and can easily spell — and make sure it makes sense to your guests!” Fancy advises. She recommends staying away from extra words, inside jokes, or anything that’s really hard to spell (“You’d be surprised how many people can’t spell ‘nuptials’!” she reveals). Instead, something straightforward, easy to remember, and quick to pull up will help your guests post quickly and get back to the party!

Another perk of the hashtag is having access to behind-the-scenes shots and insider details from vendors. “Make sure your photographer and videographer have your hashtag and your handles so they can include you in any sneak peeks,” says Fancy. “Guests will be able to see their posts, too, which will help build the excitement and give extra recognition to the role your vendors play in your big day.”

Jennifer Aniston Addresses Those Pregnancy Rumors Head On

jennifer aniston pregnancy rumors

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the pregnancy rumors — well, if you’re a celebrity couple, that is. Jennifer Aniston and her new husband Justin Theroux have been making headlines recently for a rumored pregnancy, but the actress took no time in putting those rumors to rest.

After being snapped by paparazzi during a tropical vacation — she and her hubby were on a Bahamas getaway — with what appeared to be a small bump (see the photo below), rumors started flying that the 47-year-old Aniston was expecting. But the actress was quick to shut down the unsubstantiated rumors, with her publicist confirming to Metro.co.uk that there was no truth to the In Touch story claiming she was pregnant — this story was a “fabrication.” “Jennifer is not pregnant,” the publicist said.

aniston

A source had allegedly told In Touch that Aniston and Theroux had wanted to have a baby for years and were ‘ecstatic’ to be expecting. ‘Their baby news came at a bad time in her life, too — she just lost her mother, and she and Justin almost broke up. But now this surprise pregnancy has turned the worst of times into the best of times,’ the insider told the magazine.

Aniston has been open about the ‘unfair’ pressure people put on her — and women in general — to have children. “I don’t like [the pressure] that people put on me, on women — that you’ve failed yourself as a female because you haven’t procreated. I don’t think it’s fair,” she told Allure. “You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t mothering — dogs, friends, friends’ children…This continually is said about me: that I was so career-driven and focused on myself; that I don’t want to be a mother, and how selfish that is.”

After a three-year long engagement, Theroux and Aniston finally tied the knot in a top-secret wedding ceremony in August 2015. The celebration was so top-secret guests didn’t even know they were attending a wedding until the ceremony started! The intimate nuptials took place in the couple’s backyard and Aniston’s former Friends co-star Courteney Cox was the maid of honor, with other celebrity guests including Chelsea Handler, Lisa Kudrow, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, and Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi to name a few.

Calling all fashionista brides! It’s time to get serious about wedding dress shopping. Whether you’re going classic or channeling one of many It girls to walk down the aisle (Olivia Palermo and Whitney Port, we’re looking at you), wedding dress shopping can be as easy as clicking “Add to Cart.”

Have you fallen head over heels for the crop top revolution? If you’re a bride-to-be and your style is more ’90s chic (think the “Freedom” video and countless Melrose Place anti-heroines) than traditionally matrimonial, maybe it’s time consider a crop top for your upcoming wedding. While the word crop can scare even the fittest girl into daily planks, the trend’s new version is more high waisted skirt (or pants if that’s your thing) with over hanging shirt than midriff-baring risqué. Sure, showing a little skin never hurt anyone but even if you fancy yourself more demure, this style could be for you. Either way, wearing separates on your wedding day is a way to show off your unique personal style, and show the world you’re up on the latest runway trends. The best part, this look can work for any type of wedding celebration — from a cocktail reception to a formal affair, and definitely an adorable courthouse wedding. Or, choose a traditional dress for the ceremony and opt for the crop for the reception.

Is the jury still out on the crop top for you? Or have you decided to take the plunge (more like the crop!) and unsure of where to look? Not to worry, we’ve got 8 gorgeous separates sets — some more cropped than others — that can be yours today.

Audrey Hepburn Reveals Secret Wedding Details in Never-Before-Seen Letters

audrey-hepburn-wedding-dress-main.jpg

Photo: Paramount Pictures/Courtesy Neal Peters Collection

Audrey Hepburn, the ultimate iconic trendsetter (you can thank her for your go-to LBD hanging in your closet), apparently also paved the way when it comes to secret celebrity weddings! Yes, Hepburn did it before it was even cool, but does that really even surprise any of you? In a slew of never-before-seen handwritten letters Audrey Hepburn penned throughout the years, the screen star revealed the details of her top-secret wedding to Mel Ferrer, and they’re making us wish for a time machine!

It’s been over 60 years since Hepburn said her “I do’s,” and celebs everywhere are still sneakily tying the knot. (We’re looking at you Jen and Justin, Ashton and Mila, Angelina and Brad…) Audrey, you little trailblazer, you. The letters, written in Hepburn’s elegant cursive and turquoise ink, were penned between 1951 and 1960 and addressed to her friend and elocution coach Sir Felix Aylmer Aylmer, according to Vanity Fair. They’re expected to fetch $6,000 in an auction later this month, but no need to drop that serious cash. You can put it back in your wedding budget y’all, because we’ve got Hepburn’s secret big day deets right here!

“How dearly we would love you to be with us on our wedding day,” the legendary star wrote, referencing the 1954 low-key nuptials in Switzerland she was planning to actor Mel Ferrer, her eventual co-star in the Broadway play Ondine, Sabrina, and War and Peace. “We will have the car take you up to our mountain peak, Friday, for a gathering in our chalet of our nearest and dearest!… Saturday will be the wedding… We want to keep it a dark secret in order to have it without the ‘press.'” The ‘I do’s’ were to take place in “a tiny chapel with a wedding breakfast after,” the letters further revealed.

Reportedly Aylmer was unable to make it to the wedding (excuse us while we rage that someone actually said no to an Audrey Hepburn wedding invitation), but for the big day, Hepburn donned a tea-length flared dress with a satin sash, ballgown sleeves and a high neck, paired with elbow-length gloves — an ensemble designed by Pierre Balmain. She also sported a crown of white roses (again, before it was cool…) for that doe-eyed princess bride type look.

Sadly, this was one hush-hush wedding that didn’t last. Hepburn and Ferrer split 14 years later in 1968. But secret nuptials and flower crowns?! Such a trendsetter, that Audrey…
