John Tucker must marry! Jesse Metcalfe and his fiancé, Cara Santana, are getting closer and closer to tying the knot. The next thing on their wedding to-do list? An ultra-glam engagement party, of course! The almost-newlyweds just celebrated their love with a pre-wedding bash and we have all of the deets.

The John Tucker Must Die star nearly killed us with the super stunning engagement ring he gifted his fashion blogger fiancé when he proposed back in August. Metcalfe choose a five and a half carat diamond ring for his bride-to-be with an emerald-cut center stone, which he presented to her aboard a 50-foot sailboat as they floated along the Hudson River in New York City. Cue the sunset and Eric Clapton’s “Pretty Girl” playing in the background. (Yes, really!) Since then, the couple has been busy planning their big day. “We kind of set the date of September 2018,” the actor previously revealed to Entertainment Tonight. “We’re locking down a venue right now.” But the pair took a night off from the all of those big day details to celebrate their engagement party.

According to E! News, on Saturday November 13, the engaged duo headed to the luxe Los Angeles nightclub, Hills Penthouse West Hollywood, where they partied it up with their family and friends. “Such an awesome evening celebrating our engagement!!!” Metcalfe wrote on social media after the festivities. “Thank you so much to all of our family and friends for sharing this moment with us! Love you all!!!”

The pair later took to their respective Instagram pages to both share time-lapse videos of themselves sharing a smooch in a photo booth at the bash. Talk about a too-cute couple! And Santana’s gold glitter dress? Total #goals. We think we just found your new engagement party outfit inspiration!

Can We Plan Our Own Engagement Party?

When it comes to most wedding-related events, the answer to “Who’s planning it?” is usually pretty clear. The bridal shower is hosted by the bride’s female family members or bridesmaids, the bachelorette party is planned by the maid of honor, and the rehearsal dinner is planned and hosted by the groom’s parents. The engagement party, though, is less so — especially if you have family and friends scattered in multiple areas, which could call for more than one celebration. Can the happy couple step in and plan the party themselves? Our experts weigh in.

We love the idea of planning your own engagement party. With a wedding on the horizon, you might as well get in the hosting mindset sooner rather than later. It’s also a great idea if you’ve just gotten engaged and haven’t told anyone beyond your immediate family yet: Plan what your friends think is just a normal get-together, then once everyone has arrived, raise a glass and share the good news!

If you will be celebrating your engagement in a few different places, getting involved in the planning will make sure things are arranged in a timely manner — and that you’ll actually be around for the party! Team up with someone local, whether one of your parents or a close friend, to help you find the perfect place and make other arrangements, but doing the inviting yourself will get your guests excited as soon as they know why you’ll be in town.

Of course, there’s something really special about hosting an engagement party in someone else’s honor, so keep your options open and don’t be afraid to pass the reins to a family member or friend who would like to plan the party for you. Being the guests of honor is great, too!

Bachelor Nation Alum Bob Guiney is Married! See the Star's Stunning Destination Wedding

Talk about a throwback! Anyone remember former bachelor Bob Guiney? He competed on the very first season of ABC’s The Bachelorette, before snagging the coveted titular role in the fourth season of The Bachelor. Well, it looks like the 45-year-old is a bachelor no longer, as Guiney just said “I do” to his sweetheart in a stunning destination wedding. Eat your heart out, Trista Sutter!

Trista may have given her final rose to Ryan all those years ago, but this weekend Guiney finally got his happy ending! Guiney and his now-wife, Jessica Canyon, had gotten engaged over Labor Day weekend — on a super romantic dock no less (see photo below) — with Guiney announcing the news on an episode of the Today show to hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. “I’m actually engaged now,” Guiney casually stated. “WHAT?!” the two hosts screamed in union. Our sentiments exactly!

According to E! News, Guiney and his bride headed to Punta Mita, Mexico, where they said their “I dos” at the Casa Entre Rocas on Friday, November 11.

The blonde beauty and her bridesmaids donned matching floral robes ahead of the ceremony. Then, the ‘maids slipped into long dark purple gowns and walked down the aisle clutching huge single-stem bouquets of proteas. Totally fitting for the tropical “I dos,” no? We also got a sneak peak of the couple’s after-party, where the entire wedding party participated in the viral mannequin challenge. How cool is that?

“We get along great, she lets me be me,” the groom shared with People magazine ahead of the big day. “I know exactly who I am right now, as I would be in front of her with the same terrible jokes and the ‘third time’s a charm’ crap.’ It’s going to be great.”

And from the look of these pics, we’d certainly say it was!

Romantic Brides Will Love This Venice-Inspired Wedding Color Palette

The romantic and hauntingly beautiful canals of Venice serve as the perfect backdrop and inspiration for the perfect wedding color palette. Take a nod from the storied architecture and art that fill this romantic Italian city and add details to your day that feel old-world with a modern twist. This wedding palette and vibe seems to work best for weddings that are more on the formal side (think: men in tuxes or dark suits, lots of candlelight, martinis), but can also work with less formal weddings with the right commitment to details!

To start, choose a cake that is crisp and clean but with one delicate detail that feels baroque-esque without going too over the top. This white and gold cake from Erica O’Brien works perfectly, as the intricate thin bands at the base of each tier echo molding you might find in one of Venice’s beautiful and historic hotels.

A wedding inspired by Venice also calls for moodier, deeper colors — think burgundy, deep teal, inky midnight. Rich fabrics and textiles also up the Italian vibe — think luxe velvets like this Velvet Raptor guest book (and psst: the monogram on the front is key — it adds to the old-world feel!), silks, and gilded details. Register or buy a special cake server that can remind you of your special day for years to come, and this pair from BHLDN perfectly harkens an almost Shakespearean style in an of-the-moment fashion.

For fashion, try for something a little unconventional (à la this gold, beaded Monique Lhuillier beauty) with a classic kitten heel in velvet to keep up the chic La Dolce Vita-ness. Beaded gold earrings on your bridesmaids will complement your dress in a subtle way, plus you’ll be giving them an accessory they’ll actually want to wear again (bonus points for you!).

Carry a bouquet that feels lush and fresh, mixed with deep red and white dahlias and ranunculus, and plenty of greenery — maybe even some olive leaves. Have your florist tie it together with a thick silk ribbon with loose, long, ends to add to the romanticism. Finally, for your escort cards, silk tassels with classically intricate calligraphy can double as your favor — guests can take the tassel home and use it on a keychain or looped on a purse strap. Allora! All the ingredients you need for a moody and romantic, jewel-toned wedding.

How to Choose a Maid of Honor When You Have More Than One Sister

For some, picking a maid of honor is a no brainer and you may even have been planning on it for years. For others, it can be super-stressful and even dramatic. Especially for those with more than one sister, choosing between sisters can be difficult, and even possibly impossible. Here’s some of our best advice on what to do while keeping the peace, being diplomatic, and sharing in the sisterly love.

Maid and Matron
The easiest solution to this predicament would be if you have two sisters, and one is already married. If you luck out with this scenario, simply have a maid of honor and a matron of honor and voilà — problem solved. Traditionally, the shared responsibility takes the extra pressure off of just having one representative, and then you can all share in the excitement and special moments that come along with the role. Problem = solved!

Pick Out of a Hat
Okay, so this may seem a little ridiculous but if you all agree and truly can’t make up your mind, it’s probably the fairest option out there. If you opt to go this route and all your sisters are on board, there can’t really be resentment, blame or jealousy if you rely on this foolproof method to make decisions when you just can’t. (Just make sure to shake it up and close your eyes!)

Rotate
There’s nothing wrong with planning ahead! A popular move when dealing with more than one sibling and a wedding party is to mutually design a rotation of who will serve as the MOH in one another’s wedding. You can rotate by age, or any other factor you decide — but it can work out that you all get to share in the honor of being a MOH for one another if you plan ahead! (If one sister does not want to, or does not end up getting married, you can still make it up to her in another creative way!)

Talk it Out
Perhaps one sister is pregnant, plans to become pregnant or is going through financial issues and might not be able to afford (either financially or emotionally) being a maid of honor right now. Maybe your younger sister isn’t ready, or even able to step up to the task. Or, maybe one realllyyyy wants to be your MOH and one doesn’t mind taking a back seat. You’ll hear thousands of times as you embark on your marriage journey that communication is key — and that applies here too. Sit down with your sisters and talk it out. If everyone is reasonable and open, you’re likely to end the conversation with a decision that’s fair and honest.
