Jinger Duggar is well on her way to becoming a Mrs.! Earlier this week, we announced that the 19 Kids and Counting alum is engaged to her soccer-playing sweetheart, Jeremy Vuolo, after only a one-month-long official courtship. But before we start envisioning her wedding dress pick (Will it be a unique blush hue like big sister Jessa’s?) or what kind of wedding ‘do the bride will rock down the aisle (Is it possible for all that impossibly long hair to even fit into an updo?), we gotta wonder what the parents of the bride-to-be think of their daughter’s super short courtship and whirlwind engagement. Have Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar given Vuolo their stamp of approval? Or will the ultra-conservative parents put an end to the happy couple’s presumed 19 kids before they even get started?
Jinger, 22, announced that she was being courted — the Duggar family-approved form of dating that consists of no sex, no kissing, chaperoned dates, and side-hugs only — by Vuolo just last month after meeting the pro athlete in May 2015 and attending a mission trip together. Now appearing in the TLC spin-off Counting On, the reality star shared the celebratory news that her beau popped the question earlier this week, stating, “I cannot believe that I’m engaged to the man of my dreams, the man that I’ve asked God for. God is so kind and I just cannot believe it!” But can her parents? After all, they’ve only been courting for a month. Was that enough time for Jim Bob to get to know his future son-in-law during those chaperoned dates?
Turns out, the answer is yes! According to a blog post written by Jim Bob and Michelle, they are over-the-moon about their daughter’s engagement. “What a joy for us to announce that Jeremy and Jinger are now engaged to be married!” the pair wrote. “Wow, where did the time go? Sweet little Jinger is now grown up and engaged! We are so happy for them both.” Sounds like this father and mother of the bride are settling into their roles quite nicely!
And they aren’t the only members of the massive clan to be ecstatic over the engagement news! Jinger’s older sisters, Jill and Jessa, also passed along their congratulations via Youtube. Jill, her hubby, and their baby boy are currently serving on a mission trip overseas, but still sent their best wishes to the future bride and groom in a short and sweet video. “We’re so excited for, y’all!” Jill said, smiling. Meanwhile, Jessa and her husband, Ben Seewald, did the same, explaining how thrilled they are that their respective best friends (The groom-to-be was originally besties with Seewald before beginning to pursue his sister-in-law!) are now best friends themselves.
Phew! That’s a relief. Now better get started on those 19 kids! (After the wedding, of course…)
