Christy Chung, Chinese-Vietnamese actress and star of the 1994 Hong Kong romantic comedy Mermaid Got Married, just took a cue from her on-screen siren self when it came to her own big day. On Tuesday, November 8th, Chung married her fiancé Golden Zhang Lunshuo, where she obviously impressed her guests with the four (yes, four…) wedding dresses she wore. But Chung really made a splash when she also donned an honest-to-goodness mermaid tail for the wedding festivities. (Splash? Get it?!)
How’s this for a whale of a wedding? (Okay, we promise we’ll stop now…) Yesterday, Chung and Lunshuo wed at Beijing’s Nuo Hotel, where Chung transformed the space into an underwater kingdom even Ariel would be jealous of with a blue-hued castle, starfish, and fish figurines littered around the reception venue. Oh and Captain Jack Sparrow was there too, of course.
Chung slipped into her flippers for her wedding portraits with her new hubby, wearing a blue mermaid tail for the magical underwater snapshots. Lunshuo also transformed into a merman for the photoshoot, sporting a matching blue tail. What a trooper, amiright?

For the ceremony, Chung wore a beyond-words-stunning kua — a traditional Chinese wedding dress. According to AsiaOne, the frock took a whopping 2,200 hours of labor to create with its intricate embroidery. Next up, was a voluminous ballgown with a strapless neckline, and a fully beaded gown also made an appearance. But it was Chung’s Dorian Ho Couture wedding dress that was the true siren song. The frock — our favorite of the bunch — featured a sparkling skirt, blue beading, a deep V-neckline and glitter galore. And if that wasn’t enough to send your hearts swimming, this mermaid bride also topped off her cake with a mini-mermaid figurine and had her groom’s tux decorated with tiny silver starfish.
Christy, can we be a “Part of Your World,” pretty please?
